i like gross beat too bro its got some great complex patterns and its good for quite a few things and not necessarily just drums. its good for vocals bass and lead i like using patcher too, i use vocal rider a patcher preset on all my vocals, patcher is great because you only need to use one of your 10 side slot but can add as many vsts as you like i think its like a daw within a daw. i use alot of automation too. i like to create an automation clip on anything vocal reverb delay etc click its options choose articulator tools and click analyse audio file, choose the track file your using and it will create an automation clip automatically underneath you can then go back to options and smooth it level it and it side chains it in automatically giving an alternative sound. its good to share techniques Aaron, im subscribed to mix elite on YouTube they drop loads of shorts as well as detailed vids, ive learnt loads off that site, its FL dedicated and use just stock plugins, i use the techniques but i dont always use friuty stock, i learn something new everyday. i need to do myself a new tag, slow the tempo down by creating a sequence adding the start dot and an end dot, i think you probably know all these techniques but others who read might pick up some new tips so i thought this post was worth it because you mentioned gross beat and there isnt a forum to help others now :(
nice intro Aaron beat hits as always like the little scratch and the bass is fire great synths like the pipes and bell hits love that hiss sound like a shaker it sits nice. your transitions always work too bro a great follow up piece, well done and keep creating your magic
Thanks Paul I'm a big fan of gross beat and all the crazy stuff it can do, I used it prominently in this one. The whole track was constructed with many of the same pieces that the first part was, kind of like building something out of a Lego set than what it was intended for. I wish I could post more stuff than I do there's only so much space it will let you use up unfortunately. I've come up with a lot of stuff in the last couple weeks.
Always appreciate comments on the production mate as my ears are half shot and so is my confidence in the mix..meters and old habits are my refuge...always good to hear from you dimestop. be over for a visit soon. cheers. Ed
excellent journey, great work with the loops Jonathon, such balance, the mix is fantastic, you wanna smoke something, i used that loop 3 years ago :) this is so fresh and original, the vocals are so tight and the production is spotless, well done
really lovely upload Joe, i have a delicate vocal for this track. i penned the words last week while listening to guitar but this is far better, its not long enough as is, so i would like to here the longer version if your good with that. its not rap either, im singing in my range, its controversial depending how you think but its delicate, it will be titled 'Will the light ever shine back thro' i aint downloaded the short version because i need double that, i could just double it, but your longer version may have some thing else in there so let me know mate, i would really like this :)
Thanks for encouragement, Dimestop. I was too busy trying to be a lawyer to do much dancing back then, but never let go of the music. I'm getting better at doing vocals with the Synthesizer V software, but there people on their forum who have done really amazing stuff, with videos, posted on Youtube. I really don't know how they get the vocals so nuanced. Yet, still not even close to what a real human vocalist can do, which is frankly, comforting in a way. :)
nice work Cinco, wasn't expecting this from you, yeah new world metal, got a nice melody and a great bass, the intro and outro were both good too as are both the vocals, good work bro
V so nice to see you around, this wouldn't sound bad on the terminator movies :) Dark fate is on the tv as i write. you captured a civilisation of chaos nothing exists as we knew it survival is on everyone's lips. the guitars are fantastic the bass is gritty the drums cut right through and the vocal ad libs are so tight, panic and frenzy abound, its dystopian atmosphere gives it the believable feeling we may encounter if AI gets in the wrong hands, the track is clear on the fact its here to stay but it emphasises the fact, responsibility will be the key factor to its use. great work.
Thank you, Dime. Like I said to Danke, I wish I could be here more often.
I remember through the 80s and 90s when there were sci-fi movies all about the dystopian societies and AI takeovers. Except we called the "robot revolution". Now, here we are. On the cusp. I like to think that humanity has the wherewithal to keep the shit under control, but there's always the chance that there will be those in control that use it for the wrong reasons, or, it actually does outsmart us. Either way...an exciting time in which we live, eh? I'm glad you liked the track. It's the first one in over 3 years where I've worked on it from start to finish and didn't scrap it because I just didn't like it enough.
this sounds a little different now mate them drums and the kick cut through lovely, some may still want the drums louder but i think its balanced really well now the music gives you them peaks and the littlest things that you miss like the EQ on the kick tack can define it for you, ive made loads of similar mistakes but when you been listening and tweaking for time it becomes more difficult because you dont here it like your listeners, its so obvious when you spot things afterwards us producers are a self rightesous lot though but aint it great to get good feedback all pushing the same thing too, it makes it feel worthwhile and remember we are not always right but one thing is for sure, i want as much success for your work as i do my own, our biggest fans are here and i think most genuinely feel the same about each others work, on ward and upward bro, your a good listen dean
My bad. I've literally updated the track this morning to include a hopefully improved kick. I've upped the gain also to ensure this drives through more.
its my besties birthday 56, loads to drink vodka brandy and a hatful of illegal substance its 3,30 am im just in and im flying, listening to my LM mates and finding inspiration
so on point Robin great drums and percs, the vocal sits right in that beats pocket, your really impressing with your fresh ideas mate but your drum tracks are becoming a must for me, inspiring as ever bro, keep delivering
it hits Aaron, fire beat, female vox is cool too, nice work as always bro, like that white noise and the synth playing the bell, its got delicate moments mixed well with the hard trap and the gritty rampage outro was good, looking forward to part 2
Thanks Paul, I've been experimenting alot and having a great time doing it. Some of these ideas are things I've had on the back burner in my mind for years in some cases. It's awesome that not only am I finally getting around to it, but it's turning out better than I hoped. Stay tuned bro. -Aaron
really nice work dean, i like the mix and the production, i think the drums are finely balanced tbf, i would like them louder only but thats just personal choice lovely melody and the vox sit pretty in the mix my studio headset has got good sound the bass has got depth the highs are clear and the mids are warm, like i said early i would crank the drums up starting @1.40 make a big entrance and can be automated down i would show them more but i had 3 good listens the synth work is top notch bro, you are become the listen to for trance here in featured mate
I've just gone back to the track and saw that the EQ was switched off for the kick track. Absolutely gob smacked on how I missed that. Anyway, onwards. I'm not going to make any amends to this track, unless its for professional reasons. I'm already deep into a new one, so will run with that. 6 weeks listening to the same thing messes with the head.
Thanks for your comments Paul, they are always really constructive and positive and are appreciated.
I owe @levas567 an apology for the rant I gave him (or her) last night. Frustration got the better of me. Have a good weekend all.
great intro synth Steven and the drums and percs are all the same in style and rhythm but all different textures velocity and tension, its industrial in places too. it all sits together beautifully the melody is charming, the transitions are all on point too, excellent work
great track Robin, nice drum works got that old skool ring the percs are great, vocal is fresh as, really good mix too, enjoyed a couple of listens mate, keep up the hard work
Aaron you are a fantastic artist with exceptional skill, you can only work with what you got. and you done a great job. i will do one of yours soon bro, and we can work together on the piece and hopefully i can give you a little advice on vocal layout. ive just received some news that has taken me back a little, i wont divulge what just yet until i know for certain but it's scared me and all my focus is elsewhere at the moment hence why i haven't already done the track its wrote laid out and practised but im only commenting and listening for the time being, i will know for certain in 8 days and things will become a little clearer so please bear with me.
yes bro, this as got a good vibe, similar but different i know the Dre original its a great track. i like what you done with the original stems, although i would increase the volume of the vox, the music cuts through but i would like the vocal louder, thats just my personally choice and not criticism the mix is crisp, please feel free to do more like this. i would like to do a couple of covers myself, especially after what happened to me last week. i absolutely love the JCB song because its about a dad, my dad is my only hero, i used to play it my son when he was a youngster and we would sing it together at the top of our voices. i was a passenger in his car last week, my 4 year old grandson Roman was in the back and my son played the record and he and my grandson sang it to me, i couldn't join in though because the tears were rolling down my face, now thats history repeating itself 3 generations all on the same page, im hoping Roman will do the same when he has children, i'll be watching from heaven with tears bro
Hey Paul, I was afraid my vocal mix would be a point of critique lol. I'm not the best with vocals, but this was such poor quality I had no choice really, the artifacts stuck out like a sore thumb. I do possess some much higher quality stuff to work with, hopefully I nail the next mix. Thanks for checking this one out, it's pretty unique.
i meant to reply earlier to your reply, it doesnt surprise me one bit that you are much more than singers. i am happy that you consider my praise worthy and pass on the comments to all concerned. you support our community with your input and feedback and you critique too, but always give a reason as to why you thought that way, you've personally helped me too, so now knowing that you support others in many areas too is no surprise. i also like the fact that you credit everyone involved and dont claim all the glory, yes i can imagine that it is expensive and time consuming but i personally believe you probably, get as much reward in helping others establish themselves as you do promoting 2sisters, and you also get to see the true value of volunteers who give their time freely unlike a lot of sponsor who expect a return for their outlay, your a credit to the music industry, because all i see is corruption and greed from a cut throat industry, and the bonus i get another listen to a fantastic rock track while i write, i must be on at least 5-6 listens now and each time it sounds better, them drums though wow
Good morning, Paul, please don't lift me to heaven! *smiles* I am aware that some people see me completely differently. As a spoiled bitch, as arrogant, as bossy and so on. It will certainly be no different at LM. We are just a tiny grain of sand in the music business and don't see ourselves as part of the music industry. We're just trying to create some kind of application materials for some people. With the right addresses and contacts, they could perhaps have the chance to open the door to the insular music industry. But to be honest: very few manage to do that. We are happy if some of them manage to work as studio musicians or find access to musical training. Even that is very difficult. As sad as it is, failure is the highest probability! I write this so clearly because I know that there are also some here who want to pursue a professional career. Think about it carefully! Well, I hope that's it for now on this topic. Let's enjoy music again. I didn't want to represent what a good person I am (I'm not better than anyone else), but rather explain why we uploaded this track even though the two sisters actually have nothing to do with this song. I hope we'll be just the two sisters again in the future! Kind regards, Manuela
ok Aaron like the other comments this is a contrast to the first, which sets the story, this is far more delicate still good work on its own and i can see why you try to make it as a bridge between, the ending was a bit to much just a stop, but dont give up, i notice you said your dropping part three. dont, even if you only bring it for a day, please bring it and finish your initial plan, i understand that as a full piece it would be far to long and it may not have worked as you planned, thats just one of them things we've all experienced, you have nothing to be disappointed by your a top trap artist and i personally think you should finish so we can here the final chapter, the choice is yours though bro, its done and ready, and if it was me, it would niggle me if i didn't bring it, so i suggest you bring it, you dont want incomplete bro.
Hey Paul, no worries man, part 3 is coming, just has one upload ahead of it. And it's a special track, bro. I just finished it, for the most part. It's a complete reimagining of the Classic Dr Dre song "Keep Their Heads Ringin' ft from the Friday soundtrack.
I took some stems from the actual song And built something new from the bones, as an homage to one of my favorite childhood songs. Keep in mind it's not a remix, even though I used alot of the vocals. You'll see what I mean if u check it out. Appreciate u as always bro
i use nova too but i only use its de-sser function linked or split, thats more a dynamic equaliser for mastering, Kotelnikov is classed as a master compressor both are TDR and i also use VOSslickEQ from TDR too all 3 are good choices, that i would recommend they are all free which is a bonus for any artist who makes no money from music check your nova it says its a dynanic EQ, hope that helps Robin
yeah i think they have four or 5 plugins i have used them all when i was chucking about 10 plugins into one track lol but only use the nova one now, yes it is an eq too but i use it for the bottom end so you have more control. yup your advise has been really helpfull cheers man if you want the full version let me know :)
to your question on compression, i tend to use it first. i used to use lots but i soon realised too much kills everything, so i use alot less add it first then reverb and delay starting lower gives you the option to increase as you master too. i use a really good freebie from Tokyo dawn labs https://www.tokyodawn.net/tdr-kotelnikov/ theres a link Robin, it was recommended by a number of big producer that ive watched on learning my engineering who say its as good as a paid version. but music is really not an exact science, we all here things differently so just go with your instinct, the best bit of kit you got are your own ears, if it sounds good to you it will sound good to others too mate :)
yes thats what i do but sometimes it just does not sound right it must be the way i am doing i'll suss it out. Anyway tdr nova is a good one Cru put me onto that a while ago i use it in the final part of the process with a cpl of others yeah i am learning have been for sometime less is best sometimes haha. very true as well everyone hears it different. Anyway cheers for getting back to me with my question always handy to hear someone elses thoughts. much appreciated.
nice work Robin, really good vocal placement, music has a soft rock vibe to me but yeah could be indie too, i love the way you deliver your drum work, your cymbal smashes are a distinct mark for you but ive always liked your drums, remember my track 'but we had fun bro' cybers two drum beats everyone dancing in the street :)) top job
Cheers man your right its not easy getting it right the vocals but i guess the more we do it the better it will get. question for you when do you use compression? on anything?? The drums must be all that years standing next to the drums something actually stuck haha. Anywayz cheers man appreciate your listen and comment
