Real chilled out vibe. What catches me alot is the reverse piano. Gets kinda dark with it then comes back to the sunny side. Gave it another listen. It's got a dope vibe with the acoustic coming in at around 29 sec or so. It's a sick combo with the organ and all that. I guess I kinda key on dark sounds more. Also the perc and drums are really varied. Gives it a bigger sound. It's a trip all this was done on a Touch. Only advice I can give is, play with some delay and reverb a bit. Dub music loves delay and hard spring verb sounds. I like it as is already so dubbin some stuff to it might add some new flavor. Cheers :D
Thanks for the review! actually the piano was totally a happy accident, I meant apply a different effect and accidentally clicked reverse, but I gave it a listen and was like "woah that sounds sweet" I took your advice (and the advice of many others) and added some reverb and delay... at least to a lot of the vocals. One of the sad restrictions of Beatmaker is that it only has 2 channels for fx, only 4 of them, and if you want to apply delay to something like the drum track, it affects the drums for THE WHOLE SONG... Otherwise I would have added some reverb to the drums in certain parts. maybe when I pony up the dough for a laptop and invest in some REAL equipment, I'll come back and tweak it some more. Thanks again!
the vocals get washed out at times, and the reverb on em makes it hard to hear what is being said. but you have a really good song here man. i like the sparseness, i think it helps move the song along at a relaxing pace. nice and uncluttered. good use of samples too, im gonna have to check out this sound bible. good job man.
Soundbible is very cool for free sound effects and such... thanks for the comment on the vocals. I ended up reducing the vocals over all in favor of a nice backwards piano loop, but I think I pulled most of the loops that got washed... Thanks though mastering is something I really need to work on.
Sounds a little too happy to be a Dub to my ears (not a bad thing bro) but maybe you could add a little more music and a little less of the samples. A tearing B line wouldnt go a miss. Good use of Mr B A BarakObama not over powering.
Thanks for the tips! Any chance you could help me place it in the right genre then? It sure ain't reggae...
I took your advice, cut some samples (especially on the vocal ones I think I over did those) and added another loop.
Edit: Bassline added.
Glad you like the drums, the DnB loop I got here, but I should probably post that first drum loop since it seems to be the most popular part of the song! message me if you want a copy direct, I can hook you up with it.
Wow not what I was expecting, has real nice quality sound to it, nice beat and good use the instruments. This was pretty good, I like your style man keep it up.
Thanks for the review, it's an old track and at this point I'm not terribly happy with the vocals or the mix, but I hope it's more of preview of my style and what else is to come. Thanks again!
I guess I should have been more clear in my description. I'm not looking for someone to recreate this same beat, I'm only looking for something in a similar style. I can imagine trying actually recreate a beat would be very very difficult. I mean I like this beat a lot, but I certainly don't want the exact same thing...
haha I dig this a lt, its a little sloppy, but I think thats why I dig it. its like tripping along, reminds of Red Hot Chili Peppers lol, but with a country type twist.
slick track man.
Thanks, a "country twist" is kinda what I go for when I look for beats or musicians to back me live, What can I say, I'm a country kid and I wanna stay true to my roots. It's most definitely a little sloppy too... which I personally wanna change which is why I'm looking to redo it.
Thanks again for the review!
you got some awesome drum beats there, but the guitar is a bit lacking, i suggest you try string thing and string theory (theyre free too, just google their names with vst4free in the search). personally i like this better without the sample
edit: just goes to show you that its not a very good sample inthe first place, i suggest mda piano
Thanks for the review! I'm amazed that both people to comment on the melody so far have called in guitar, when it's actually piano (or at least so sayth the Beatmaker app) I play drums in real life, so I definitely have more of an undertanding of how they work than really anything to do with melody lines. Honestly if I could produce nothing but rhythms I'd be a happy camper. I'll check out both those programs, but my current computer... well is either an iphone or a really, really old mac laptop, so I might have to wait til i can scrape together the dough to buy something new. I actually just updated the track with the newest, most complete version, so I'd appriciate if you'd give it another listen, although honestly, the melody doesn't change a whole lot. Anyway, if you like it without samples this is definitely the version to check out... Thanks again!
i was digging the track it sounds good and those really cool lyrics. to me it sounds a little incomplete, i think it needs another sound element maybe some keys or stand up bass. and maybe go all out maybe some back ground singers to sing a hook.. but cool song has groovy sound to it i like !!
Thanks for the review! I agree that it's a little incomplete unfortunately I don't have access to the original beat, so I'm looking to rerecord pretty much the whole thing. I LOVE the idea of a groove with stand up bass. I something like Buckshot Lefonque's music evolution (if you don't know the song youtube it, buckshot is ridiculous). I would love to add a hook too, but honestly I'm terrible at writing them. If you know anyone who could produce a beat like this, please put em in contact with me!
Song is Actually Not Bad at all,Plus A good Positive Message,You got A lil Flow going on a few timez there,lol..Just re-record a little more laid back, and keep it flowing,it sounds better when you do, try not to hesitate so much,be more proud when you spit and have fun Cause People who know music can hear it like myself,But I think You tighten that up and you got a Great Track,Maybe even a little Hit if not more,Woman will Love the Hell Out of it,lol...Anyway Thats all I have for u,I hope U can wrk wit it,Stay up and b E.z! 1! ~T.R.I~
Thanks for the review, I agree its a little stuttery and not quite as "flowy as I'd like... It's an old track and as i said in my description I feel like I'm matured a lot with my style and want to rework some parts to def give this a smoother flow... My main problem is I don't have the original beat so I can't go back and just rerecord that part of the track.

this is the kind of stuff I like - I see a big future ahead of you.
Some people don't know how to use samples they find in anything.
Two thumbs up!!
You might need to send me some of your other stuff in the future.

I took your advice, cut some samples (especially on the vocal ones I think I over did those) and added another loop.
