I get the pain in this. Brilliant man, well done. Hope the process around the making of this track was cathartic. It's a great expression of different moods as well, which I like.
When your lost in your own even if the door is open its hard to walk through the door you can have everybody in the world there to help but if your that low its hard to even hear or see the help in saying that it takes that person to reach out to get that help but its hard. i hope your friend eventually pulls through its a horrid quagmire to be in.
your tune hits all the right places another well thought out tune.
Nice dedication I really like it especially the piano part I might snap out of it and sample it if that's okay with you. Brilliant with the electric guitar
Alan Parson's Project is definitely a good shout. I've thought about calling myself the BaoBou Project :D
The strings is also a good one, I'll give that a look! I didn't want them too overpowered, but a bit more won't hurt! Danke!
Heart felt and powerful "The door is always open, but you can't escape" I hope the person in your life can escape the torment and troubles that have beset their life at the moment. I understand sometimes you can only say things best in song.
Thank you for recognising that line - It's the tragedy for someone locked in their own head. As you said, sometimes you just have to write.
Greetings from New Barnet btw!
Love the feel and how this piece is put together. Dynamic playing and performance, great composition. I'm kinda gushing about looperman at the moment, although a resource I'm a slow learner as well as catastrophically anxious so it's taken me a while to 'Grok' the great implications available beyond resources. You were one of the first artists I followed and now I know the reason why.
BaoBou! Where did you get that raspy snare from? Man that sound fits perfectly. Now the opening is giving me a Rolling Stones Miss You vibe. Your vocals as always are raw, and inviting with a lot of soul. And yep Donald Fagen ish. Your guitar solo @ around 1:42 speaks my language. Youve been pumping the tracks out lately. Im digging your trajectory. Keep the momentum my friend. Peace.
Thank you so much Mark! December was a good month for my music - I've more or less decided which tracks to take to the next EP/album, so now I'll try to work more on those :)
Merci mon ami! Suprise: je suis dans votre pays aujourd'hui, a Paris!

Happy New Year BaoBou!
Your song is real good in every aspect. I mean I liked the guitar parts, I specifically liked the key parts, liked the vocals and the production as a whole.
My best regards, Anthony.
Well, you can always claim it was a reference to Grover Washington ;)
Thanks for the well thought-out comment! Always much appreciated. I have to say I already did that to some extent; I recorded new drums and then new vocals - they're already much better ;)
Traveling this weekend but I'll give them another try later.
Thanks so much for listening and your great advice my friend! Happy new year!
You have a great grasp of the genre, which is truly a talent. This track transports me to the funk era of the early to mid-70s. Your vocal character is unique. However, I recommend taking some time to listen to the instrumental version of the track a few times while relaxing and having your eyes closed. Really allow yourself to feel the grove. After that, try re-recording your vocals. Take your time, being mindful of not rushing ahead of the instrumental. I believe this approach will lead to a much stronger performance. Sometimes ,as singer-songwriters, we need to step back, put some time distance between ourselves and our compositions so we can return with fresh ears. This works for me when I'm crafting a song. Well done, and Happy New Year to you as well.
Mix sounds balanced, crisp and clear to me. You've gut a knack for writing really good catchy songs with a proper structure. Not easy to accomplish . And your musicianship is outstanding as always. Happy new year mate!
Yo this is super cool man. From what I've heard of you so far this is my favorite one. Love the groove and how it keeps progressing throughout the song. Nice work!
Thanks so much! I'm super happy how this one turned out given that I struggled with it quite a bit. Once I re-recorded the drums and vocals suddenly it started to click a bit more.
Been doing these silly tracks since 2018 and still trying to figure out a process that works :D
