Funk in my lungs and in my ears, too. What a good start to the new year lol. This one reminds me of some stuff I heard live a few years ago, the group was an ensemble and they had someone playing a mandolin. Honestly, where I live, youd be highly successful on the Fri-Sat night venue scene (Ive thought about that before, too) Alot of your work just makes me wanna grab a beer and smile, and take it all in. And I dont even drink lol. Its just very endearing. U have what my football coach called "intangibles" - hopefully u understand wat i mean. Good work man.
Hahaha thanks buddy! I've always struggled to find other musicians to play live with - I did some gigs with a sax player, many gigs on my own... Most people want only to play covers, or else their own tracks. Playing in/writing for a funk band... that's the dream and it's the thing I try to evoke with these tracks. Glad you had fun and you and lil bro an awesome 2025!
Hmmm.... I didn't think the production was that slick... So uploaded a new version with I hope a better balance ;) (I felt the snare was especially overpowered, that's better now)
Beautiful work. I noticed that heavier guitar around 224 - a little congested
Interesting comment about the speed of the phrasing with the lovely lyric - I know what he means but not sure how to give it greater poignancy. Some great songwriting, playing and production thats for sure
Thanks a lot for the thoughtful comment. I think I understand what you hear! I'll play around with that a bit.
I've changed the tempo of the song a bit since the comment of Alex so I hope it helps a bit (essentially it starts and ends a bit slower). I do have some further changes in mind... but I'll first finish some other songs :D
(for sufficiently low values of "finished", as my math prof would say).
As much as the sorrow is evident in your tone, it is, nonetheless, a beautiful song. The good thing is that your friend will never feel pain of any kind anymore, of that I am sure. Nice work on the guitar
I understand that this song is about loss, judging from the description. I don't know your language, but it's hard to grasp the emotions in the song without understanding the words. In other words, the emotions are felt, but because of the not long enough pauses, I don't have time to feel them. Despite the emotions, the song is quite pleasant.
That's a very good and deep comment Alex! Thanks a lot, I will definitely think about that.
I sincerely hope that there will be some better news for you in 2025... Slava Ukraini!
Whoa BaoBou! You are a one-man firestarter here with a track like this! Hooked us in with the swingin' bluesy piano riff for sure, anchored by one fantastic beat. Bass line is so much fun, and that guitar bit at 1:41? Well dang! Fabulous. Thanks for being a Superspreader of your swing/blues goodness.
Thank you so much for checking it out, I'm super happy you liked it!
As you noticed I sped the acapella up a bit, which I thought gave it more groove, and I cut and pasted a bit to make it fit my idea better. Nothing to serious though, your acapella was great!
great work buddy, bluesy funky great vocal fun also, its always good to listen too an original seasonal track done well, im sick of the the ancient tracks that are served up every year by the radio stations, well done, i enjoyed my listen
I can hear some of the first stuff i ever heard from u here, but theres some other elements here, too - youve grown as an artist, and so ur like a painter or craftsman who begins to add flourishes that are recognizable as their work. It might be a work in progress, but its further along than some would think. I always enjoy hearing wat youve been up to.
I dig this so much, from the superb bass line, the jazz feel on the keys and the awesome anti Christmas theme haha cool. the music quality is really good BaoBou, dig this!
You do have active tracks very fast pace. You probably do well on some drum and bass tracks. That's pretty good man you know when you're in the zone you're in the zone like you said that you come easy to you and when you try to force something it doesn't come out right to right wow that's something that I'm just putting stuff together you're doing that and writing you need to be a teacher of music lol I'm still trying to learn notes when I hear them and what keys they should be in. Okay so you said you found the piano riff but you at the guitar and the other keys did you play those instruments? Pro work my friend. I still want the tree but to smoke of course lol
I grew up playing piano, "recorder" (those wooden flutes) and violin; I added guitar, bass and drums later. The drums in this track are not mine of course, I prefer to use a good sample if I find one but sometimes I'll use my electronic drum kit to create a rhythm if I can't find what I'm looking for.
The piano will always be my comfort place - if I try to figure out a tune or chords, I always picture a piano keyboard, even when I'm playing guitar or singing. But the guitar is sort of my happy place, my aspiration, it's where I create melodies.
Interestingly (to me anyway), I create quite different things on the piano, guitar and vocals, and I often eg sing something that I created on the guitar, or take some chords from piano to the guitar to see how they behave there.
I'm definitely not a music teacher - thanks for the compliments though :) I'm just an old man with way too many melodies in my head, too many instruments and a severe case of ADHD ;)
Hey BaoBou, that's one way to really enjoy the Christmas season. It's nice when everyone sits in church with full bellies and snores peacefully. But I have to admit that as a child I fought against the idea that Santa Claus doesn't exist...LOL. Great track! Happy holidays!!!
Cheers,
Micky
Hahaha, as a Dutch person both Santa and the church need to be questioned ;)
We are both music lovers and that's the main thing. Thanks for listening and enjoying the track and have a great holiday period my friend!
