I really enjoyed this!
I still wanted more loudness, as opposed to the warm compression... but I think that's just one of the things you and I would kinda differ on. I don't think my way of doing things is any better, but I like harsher volume... i guess?...
regardless, I love the sounds!
ahem
Harsh it is now - probably was when you heard it. Wow 2 months ago. SO let me yell at you in the past - THANK ank ank... YOU u u u u u..... whooosh. Back to the future.
I liked it CalifKen. Needs a slightly better mastering job I think. I'm having fun with Ozone 4 from Izotope and it's incredible for that job as an example. It would give the bottom end more "punch" and rest of it more brightness. I liked the melody. Hmmm... there does appear to a 25 or so second "gap" at the end of silence. Good job all around.
Ah my ozone trial just expired - but perhaps the coolest mastering thing ever it was for sure. LOVED it. It is indeed the best I've used so far. Thanks for that!!
This is one very well developed trance track! I really like the cool piano vibe. The bass sounds very good too. I like the unusual percussion sounds that you've used. Very nice melodies and progressions. This track is not very repetitive, which is nice to hear from trance. Nice work!
Mind you when I first put it together, OF COURSE there was a part that went on and on doing the same thing. But fortunately it was so bassy that I removed it, with the added side effect of not having like 60 seconds of the same sound. thanks for noticing! :)
yeah i would agree with koble here. It has really good elements in it but feels like too much is going on at once. I am sure once you seperate the differences it will all fall into place! Good work man!!
It is. It's kind of like a car crash, at parts you're crumpling, at parts, you're dying. But there is always something big going on. It's true tho. I wouldn't be able to play this anywhere without getting weird looks at each change prolly. Thanks for the review S!! Cheers.
Good track CalfiKen. It's pretty nice. I do sometimes get the feeling of hearing more than one song when I'm listening to your stuff. It feels that you're trying to sometimes pack too much into each piece. You should try taking just one of the themes in here for instance and develop it and see where it takes you.
I followed your advice - updated the track. There might still be some inconsistencies with the key and pitch, however from this point on, I will be applying your advice to what I do. That's not the first time I've heard that, and it's time I grow out of it. Thank you!
yeh feeling this bud, real put ure hands upin the air euphoric sums it up in one word, get down all u ladies, rub up themladies u fellas every1s happy, track would gpo down a stormin ibiza
has a oldschool trance vibe pretty easy for the ladies to get down with fashow...oh i uploaded that track again hopefully 3 times is acharm check itoutwhen u get achance1 great ending 2
WOOOoooo. Love it dude, great record. Awesome progression, and the drop near the end and build back up that you added totally works! Amazing production bud, anyone that doesn't dance to this isn't human!!! 10/10!
I missed it with the vocals, but I really like the style of this instrumental. The chord progressions are really cool, I bet it's tough to tune those to a pella. The choise of sounds on this track make it sound kind of old school. I really like the lead synth especially. Hope to hear it again once you've got the vocals worked out. Nice one!
EDIT-I think the vocals sound pretty good this way. Sounds like it would be a tough job for autotune. Cool track overall!
Hey bud - Thank you! I put the vocals back in but they're kinda electronicky. If you get a chance to check it out, can you let me know if they're unsettling or not? Thanks man - preciate the rev.
It's hard to make comments sound meaningful,it's almost as hard as writing lyrics. There is something in your music that touches my soul and that's what makes it gr8 for me!We can master and re-master,tweak and peak-but at the end of it all,a good track stands out from the rest no matter how much you play with the knobs(ha ha)
You have talent-and that's good enough for me.Awesome track!!Lofthouse.x
LH man - I see so often lately how when something is difficult, it often produces a better result than the easy thing. That comment was super meaningful to me, and maybe cuz it wasn't the easiest thing to come up with, took some thought. I'll tell you this tho - the comment I left on your track Little Star (http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/39410) came right out after listening to it, so some times good things that mean a lot don't have to be hard - I think cuz your track was so good, all the thought and emotion had already been evoked after i heard it, so I just typed. I really appreciate your taking the time reciprocate. Much love man, cheers.
This is a brilliant track!Really my kind of music!
It's the kind of thing I really love. The synth work is excellent!
The vocalist has a gr8 voice but is slightly off key.I'm sure that could be sorted out with better monitoring-but I have to say,all in all,I love this song!Any chance of a download?Lofthouse.xx
Hey there friend - thanks for the review! Like how can I sort out the key with monitoring? Interesting .... Yes, I'll send you a contact thing so I can get your email, if that is cool! Thanks for the review.
Short but sweet and the synth sounds like look what time it is. great theme stuff tho i do like it a lot fo techno an im not to into it as a genre but this is a sweet short song.
Really appreciate the comment about the time - you know strangely I don't listen to a lot of techno or trance, except for a bit on this site, so i wonder if my stuff sounds like last decade, so that reassured me. Thanks!
THanks a lot man - totally feelin the sprite thing - I've never heard a more convincing description of a track of mine or anyones that immediately was that to me as much as this. THIS IS FKN SPRITE man!!! :) THx!!!
this is a track which i like for its mix of genres it sort of had a orchestral feel at the start then sort of merged with this dance beat quite well it is very well thought out and sound quite complex.
Before I review I gotta comment on something- 72 plays, 2 favs, and no reviews... What gives people? Sheesh, I tell you, laziness (shakes head). Now let's listen to the track.
Play 2 now...
Quick question mate, is there supposed to be an additional 25 seconds after the end of this song? Anyways, nice juicy swells in this and it kinda reminds me of Electro-symph mixed with a touch of French House. Kinda like if Gigi D'Agostino, Daft Punk, and Kraftwerk collab'd on something. And for some odd reason I wanna suggest throwing some Beethoven stuff in here at certain parts (not really talking about the pronounced stuff, but the more subtle sides of his compositions, like the harps that're barely heard over the full string ensemble). Kinda like throwing some really love pads n humming basslines in to accentuate the more constant parts (have them fade out just enough to where the low vol pads n stuff can be heard). Nicely done mate. Later on!
I am going to do that next with it, thanks for always givin the cool, descriptive, thoughtful and educated advice. I will absolutely be using it! I will come back at you with it when I have somethin. Thx!!
There's a cinematic vibe going on here as well, and your opening sequence reminds me of a lot of Peter Greenaway's musical choices. Then of course it mutates several times into distinct movements. Very interesting moving from contemplative trancy bits into head bobbing rhythms. Nicely done on several levels.
Greenaway's Last Supper - that was a trip! The opera woman goes Wild. And at a few points did I hear why you might say that! Last Supper thing was interesting, I think it's sort of reminiscent of what we do with music and the remixing and all on this site - it's like he was remixing art.
Contemplative is the word. I wish there were a contemplative genre on this site.
Thank you so much for the review, I will continue to contemplate that comparison into the night!
Great track! I would definitely add it to my iPod. The harp-ish instrument at 3:11 is a bit louder when it comes in which kind of pulls me out of the trance the rest of the track creates. Excellent use of overlapping textures.//Review of Update: The sound at 3:11 now flows - great job! From 3:33 on, did you change something? Maybe I'm just hearing it differently because the flow wasn't interrupted. Also, the track seems to end rather abruptly. Oh, as for genre, I'd vote chillout.
Hey man I will send you the mp3. Thank you very much for that and especially the specific mention with time code. I've done that and will try to more, it makes for a review that is as useful as it can be. Thx thx!
