Dude! Before I even begin to review the song I've got to say that's possibly the coolest description I've ever seen! How'd ya do it (with HTML stuff I'm guessing)?
Play 2 now...
Okies, so I'm thinkin that this has the potential to be alot longer. And I'm not trying to shamelessly promote myself, but the groove of this reminds me of my track Lemonade Sunrise, which I played live (and that session lasted over 11 minutes, granted I was pushing the envelope of repetition on it). So yeah, if you were wanting to take this further I just had a wicked idea with the added synth parts at the end. I call it 'step-build mixing' and basically it just means adding/subtracting the different channels with fades. And here you could stip this song down to like a single channel and then build back up into the song. Do a 'hopscotch' drop/add of the drumms (play-cut-play-cut-isolated bridge-play). And then 'step down' the rest (from longest playing channel to newest) and I'm thinkin leave it with just the bass and new synth. While maybe introducing a new long drawn out sounding channel of pads (like angel choir, for example).
Anyways, this is like play 4 or 5 now. Great start mate, hands down! Looking forward to hearing how this progresses. Later on!
(update)
Hey mate, my bad for not getting back to you sooner. I'll rectify that here shortly. Anyways, as for the track it sounds like ya pretty much nailed it. Lates again!
Woah, this is funky. I love what you've done with that acapella. I've heard it raw and you've mixed it up so well. Overall impressions of the song, very good, very good.
Keep it up.
this is a cool track man. i love the pop/dance feel to it. great assortement of sounds. has a great relaxing/danceable vibe. good bassline, and synths are wut makes this stand out! keep this up dude!

Thanks for stoppin by to review I really appreciate it! This track has a few cool things about it, I think mostly the feeling or mood, I tend to put together dissonant, intense and contemplative things. And this one certainly makes me feel exactly the way you say it. Thx again.
Nice! I agree, great intro but I liked the transition to the melody also. Nice volume changes. I need to work on those myself. Could have gone on longer with some of the interesting tempo/volume changes you put in there. Good stuff.
This is a great trance track! I really like how you keep updating your mixes with little tweaks to make them even hotter. Excellent work on this one - it's faved!
It would be awesome if the site had a built in versioning system, but hey is there anything that can't be done with text? Maybe a couple things. Thanks man!
it did have that, has been updated much since, so i think exactly the part you mentioned is gone or different into the mix. appreciate the comment@@!! cheers.
The bass levels sound okay, but the whole track sounds pretty quiet overall. It's mixed well though and the vocals are audible. Really cool sequencing on the beats and synth! Nice work!
EDIT- sounds really good now. major improvement!
EDIT 2- sounds even tighter now!! I'm gonna go check out your other tracks.
Dude your production sounds soooo clean. I use alotta the high mid range synth myself and noticed it tends to get sorta muddy. You tore it up on the mix! Good stuff! Dance really aint my bag but I can dig this!
You know I can totally hear somebody rapping to this in my head, like very cool. If you have anything on the burner, keep this in mind. I know you're doing a few cool things right about now... With this, I feel there could be like that futuristical kw flavor. If that makes sense.
Haha, crazy in a cool way. reminds me of this band called HelloGoodbye. If you havent heard them check em out. Kudos to you on the cool track. Kinda got and 8 bit feel to it.
Listening to em now! they're like from within an hours drive of me, and touring all right now. i am going to try and check em out if I can. diggin em. Thanks for the kudos bro.
About the 8 bit, I did learn music theory from Nintendo (that's like 47% true), so yeh. :) Cheers.
there's so much reading you can do on the internet. so many little tricks that can help make mastering easy. id suggest google'n a heap of mastering strategies and find the best that suits you. you deffs have the skills to make a mean track, so yeah the next step is mastering.
hell it's a long process and im still learning, but nevertheless it's fun :P
any questions about anything just ask ill try to help as much as i can.
MAN!!!! this is awesome... that intro lead to the drop was pro! when it dropped i was like yeahhhhhhhhhhh, that's exactly what you want. mate, trance/dance is no where near my fav genre BUT this kicked hard, i really really enjoyed it!
oh and by the way, the mix sounded quite clean (im only listening through headphones). nevertheless, great stuff!!!!!
Thanks so much - I appreciate it! And again that intro is the first thing I built out in FL after reading your posts, so thanks for taking the time to put that information out there. Is there any other reading or info out there that you might suggest I check out?
Excellent track! This one reminds me just a little of depeche mode, which is great! This song really pulls me along for the ride. I'll have to fave and download this one! Thank you for sharing!
Very interesting. I like the transitions from one section to the next- they flowed really well and built the anticipation. I like the chord progressions and the interesting melodies that were different enough from each other that they kept things interesting with variety but similar enough that they provided cohesiveness. I like how in each section, a different facet of the music (the bass, the drums, the synths, etc.) each took a lead role at different times. Each one got to be the "star" at some point in the song. This is not usually my genre but I enoyed the listen. It really kept my interest and was fun. Kper
Thank you so much for the detailed review. I like what you said about each facet taking the lead as it progressed, as I didn't see that before. I tend to underrate cohesiveness and exchange it for something that keeps my attention, sometimes to the detriment of the final product. Thanks again.
Your string work is great in this. Good chouice on bass too and your synths are real dreamy. The bass towards the end gets really good. Nice work Califken.
Good use of snyth's, good intro, work on the transition around 1:20 sounds like a whole new track was put on! Add a little more compression to help give the track more of a solid feel. I could see this track taking shape, and good use of the bass riff, gave the song a melody.
Would a good way to make that transition around 1:20 be to foreshadow a bit with that new instrument that comes in by bring it in progressively before that point? That's the only that comes to mind to make that happen. I really appreciate your input! Thanks.
the synth is great first of all, your employment is sound merging is excellent, at about 43 secs i was really surprised it sounds great dude, keep up the sweet work
I like how the synths sound like they're warping together on this track. The beat has a bit of a hip hop flavour to it, but that doesn't take away from the enjoyment. Really nice mixing! Great work!
EDIT: This sounds quite a bit different from the first time I heard it. Sounds very good. A little techno-ish.
