You gotta let them vocals out man. With a little bit of feeling this track would be AWSOME. Its a great track as is, love the piano work compliments your voice perfectly. Put some emotion in it would be 100% better
dude Thanks so much for the review - quick question - I had a version of this uploaded where I myself was singing and was accompanied by a piano, but I uploaded a new version about an hour before this review came through with Mike singing without a piano accompaniment. I wonder if you somehow heard the previous version? Hmmm... like when u listen to it, is there a piano doing the same thing as the vocal melody or no?
This is a very cool track! You've definitely pushed the bounds of the rock genre by putting your indivual touch on this track. It has elements of many other genres in it. I like the vocals, but I must say it sounds like they were recorded on a cheap mic. I get that problem too... Overall a very fun track, I hope to hear how it evolves!
This is definitely a change from the other remixes I've heard in this competition! Cool stuff going on in this mix! I like all the attention to detail on the drums. You've created a very intense mix, nice work!
I think mine is a little different from the others because I try not to listen to them before I do mine. Of course I came in 167th place, so maybe that's not a good thing. But still I'm uber glad to get reviews like this one on it. Thank you Spivkurl!
Nice remix track Ken. Your tracks are loaded with energy. You have so many musical ideas in your head. One of these days I'm going to hear CalifKen develop just one theme but I think that day is far off. This is your trademark though so go with it. This track is a good one. Keep it up.
I think I hear those words in my head like once a day now - "You have so many musical ideas in your head". :D I have my consistent and my inconsistent days. My consistent days are certainly capped off with a moment of sincere reverence to you and your consistent advice, my friend. Thank you - Ken.
For a few years I've been using FL - always passed the Love Philter up for some reason, assumed it would be lame. Until this track, I dropped it on. :O :O :O Nice it was!!!! Thank you for the review DJMohsen. Appreciate it.
The bass is nice but I really don't think the lead synth sounds( the melody is fine} fit in this track. Maybe a better lead sound would help. I don't know really it sounds fine now I just need to listen to it again.
Much thanks Paul! I did enter it, I'm currently like 80 / 400 somethin - My contest submission - there are some just flawless remixes submitted - but yeh I do like that my mix has my stamp on it, and that the guys @ CM will hear it, even if it's just for a minute before they skip on to the next. But hey you know never know!! There are some boring ones and just egchk ones as well. I'm just not the best judge of my own work, sadly. Like I wouldn't say that this mix is an improvement over anything else I've done, though apparently it is. Which is why I appreciate SOOOOO much what the/you/we lovely people on this site do. Thanks for taking the time to review man, cheers.
I love Crystal Method, and this is an amazing remix you did, kudos on making it your own way and style, love it. Great pro sound all through, very impressive man. peace.
Thank you KDL! I appreciate that - I learned about compression and mastering with this track, so I am glad to hear that it worked out well! really appreciate it, cheers!
Well, absolutely great...I am DJ here and this will go down big time here ...keep it up..may I download it ??..to play on friday and saturday night??...let me know Benjamina...
The electronic track sounds great. I really like how you put together your tracks. these arrangements are def better than average!
It might be easier to just send her the download and have her re-sing over your track to get the vox in-tune.
Thank you d2d! I often think about this review, I really appreciate it. I tried getting a hold of Holly, no such luck. Cheers friend, thanks for the rev. -K
lovin the pads here man!! Like spivkurl said! Great stuff....Up that kick a little though..kinda lost in the mix...Coz those pads really need a bit of a banger drivin them onward and upward! Great sound man!!
Amazing trance track! I love the feel of those pads, and how they pulsate. The closed eye visuals are quite impressive, thank you for sharing this experience! Definitely a fave, due to it's intensity and ecstacy!
I can't think of any ways to make this track more relaxing, it's already got a great chill vibe. I like how the bass and piano take turns during parts of the song. The pads sound really nice on this one too. Great track!
Make it more relaxing by taking it completely the unrelaxing direction and have a bottle of something awful, and just lay there. It will be like Led Zeppelin whole lotta love trippy part relaxing. No guarantees though. :D Thanks man!
I like the overall atmosphere you created here, it's relaxing as you intended. Maybe you should vary with the base beat a bit (but maybe that's just me, still suits the relaxing tune of this song)
all those melodies sound pretty good. the first groove you have going there was my fav :P you could make one seperate tune outa that. the bass groove was healthy :D
great stuff man. keep experimenting with that beast and who knows what hot tune you will bang out ;)
Thanks for the review B! Not sure what state this was in exactly when you reviewed it, I think it was a bunch of songs in one. I guess it still kinda is that!! lol. Thanks man. Ken
I'm liking the sounds and direction Ken. I think you nicely integrated that Holly acapella in this one. Very rough in the mix of course as you indicated. You've got about 5 songs here I think...lol. A CalifKen trademark I'm thinking. It sounds like you're jamming on this one. A single track just cannot contain CalifKen. :P Nice addition to the music arsenal. Keep em coming.
MIDI keyboards really do have a lot of advantages, which you seem to have realized with this track. I like when the track changes up around 1:30, very groovey!
EDIT- Sounds like this track is really coming together. I really like some of those melodies you've played!
This is an excellent fusion of styles, and you've intertwined them so thoughtfully. I really enjoy the almost classical feel to this track at certain moments. Beautiful transitions between phrases. This track really flows! I'm going to fave this one for sure!
I guess my secret to fusing styles is that I don't have a particular style in mind ever, I just select what sounds nice and go with it. It seems to be working out really well. Thank you so much Spivkurl, you are the Omni-looper - all seeing, all knowing, all hearing!! :D You are gold. Thanks - Ken
