Went to a buddy's house the other day and we listened to Killing Joke's "Pandemonium" Cd, like, six times in a row ~ so when I came home I was in a dark Industrial kind of mood, I guess.
All the synth effects in the bridge were made with a little freebie VSTi called "Alieno".
The DVi (VSTi) Les Paul is "Drop D" tuning with standard "2 note" power chords being played. I had to automate the crap out of the volume on the guitar track to keep the guitar from dominating the rest of the instruments. I tried side-chaining the guitar first, but it didn't work so well.
Thank you very much, SERGEJ. I'm glad you liked the track. I'm actually working on a couple of more tracks like this one, but they're a bit "heavier" (more in the genre of Hard Rock).
Considering that I don't actually play guitar (I use guitar emulation VSTi's in my DAW), it really kinda freaks me out when folks compliment my guitar "playing". I do strive very hard though to get a realistic, expressive guitar sound.
Thanks for the listen and review, Dan ~ I really do appreciate it, and I'm glad you enjoyed the track.
Guitar is awesome.
Bass really struck me. I love your bass tone... I wonder how it would sound with a little bit of distortion??
This song is awesome. Kinda reminds me of a lazer in away.
What kinda monitors do you use? I would double check your mids just a little, but that's not a complaint, just letting you know how it sounded on my system.
I have Kenwood KX999's on the front channels and Kenwood LSK-704's on the rear channels, and I'm pushin' 'em with a Pioneer VSX-3900S receiver at around 300 watts per channel. All four speakers, BTW, are floor speakers (VERY large).
And my computer has 7.1 Surround Sound with Altec Lansing speakers which are hung on the walls.
Glad you liked the track.
And thanks for the listen and review ~ I really do appreciate it. Keep on rockin'!
You know, John, I'm kinda glad you reviewed this one and brought my attention back to it. I was meaning to re-record the vocals with some Autotune and Harmonizing FX, but I got busy with other projects and forgot all about it.
Thanx, bro!
Peace,
Mike
P.S. Yeah, it's me on vox - an old biker doin' rap. Can ya believe it!? LOL
This one was just a bit of "playin' around". I didn't get into seriously tryin' to make something out of it, but I might do a little more work on it in the future.
I've been devoting most of my time lately to more Metal-oriented tracks, because that's my first love, but some of these old acoustic-flavored tracks might be worth takin' another look at, I guess. Who knows?
Dude, collabin' with guys like yourself, rei4real, Steinna, Kikajon, Gibson, et al., would be a freakin' dream come true for me. Hit me up anytime you like. In fact, I've got several tracks I'm sorta stuck on - if you wanna have a stab at throwin' some extra geetarz on 'em, just let me know.
As always, I appreciate the listen and review, bro.
I thought for sure I had reviewed and downloaded this one. Glad I found it. Grabbing some tracks for the St Patty's day party, adding this one along with a couple others of yours I have.
Thank you for the kind words, John. I consider you to be one of the more talented musicians/composers I've known in my life, so I really do appreciate you taking the time to listen and review my tracks.
