Hi Cosmo
This track is really special and well put together.
I myself am not really a jazz lover, but I find this track beautifully structured with all those instruments and quiet periods in between, built on a constant, consistent rhythm.

Cosmo! What an amazing soundscape with a dimension all its own. The French horns and strings are first class all the way. I wouldnt expect anything less than the best from you. Trusting all is going great with you and your album project.

Hi Brother, good news. I finished the album a couple of weeks ago. I want you to be the first to listen to the full album. I will email you a link shortly. Unfortunately, Vicki fell and broke her left wrist, hurt her right wrist, arm and knee. So, I am a full-time caregiver for a couple of months. It's hell getting old. I'm still strong as an old ox. I'll have to check if you posted anything new after I sign off here. Hope everything is going well with you and your family. Talk to you soon, Cosmo

That's a great track, I really like the collab of all the talent that worked on the track, not in the least that your wife helped - and the horn is awesome!

i so remember the arrival of MTV, it revolutionized the way music was consumed, you could or maybe should be a billionaire my friend and yes before vids, lots of 8mm, i studied audio visual at college wanted to be a film editor kind, behind the camera lol, but i settled for a wife family and steady job, i destroyed my marriage after 21 years, and was divorced, i hold no grudges, i always had an eye for the ladies, i also relise i must of had the lines too as i get a lot of credit for my descriptive story telling here at LM years later, I'm a good father, an absolute knock out grandfather to 4, i found music at 14 and was a streetdancer, i left home at 18, i worked holiday camps doing displays and teaching youngster moves, i settled in Birmingham my EX's city at 22. I only found LM and music production at 55, I'm now 60. i love this place, keeps me young and feeling alive, it lets me relieve some of the weight i carry, i call it shining a light on hurt, and many reflect on my words because they too have felt hurt, i suppose i have always loved music of some kind, i was also tipper of my boys brigade band and the sea cadet corps i was registered to, i played at navy days at HMS Collingwood in Portsmouth as a 16 year old, a friend said to me the other day, you are a great advert for the older gen and your bars are better than lots half your age earning big bucks,
they'll have to drag me out of here now, I'm gonna be the rapper at my own funeral 3 hearses pumping out the tunes and all the mourners poppin and breakin in the cemetery lol
i came into this world with a bang and i sure wanna leave with one

dimestop, thanks for sharing your life's downs and triumphs. Art and music are the common threads to all history. They can imitate art and music with AI, but true innovative art and music only comes from the human brain. It comes the human experiences you described above. Thanks, my friend, Cosmo

Cosmo i don't wish to crush your page comment section but i happened to press the link to your page, Cosmoandfriends, i am truly impressed with your pedigree and your whos who of acquaintances, i also feel extremely obliged and moreso now that you have actually listened to me but also commented on my humble offerings, i know Alan Mair bassist of the Only Ones personally, they had a number one hit with another girl another planet 1978, he is a good friend of my younger brother who is an actor and an extremely good pianist, he also played keys for Alan Mair at a huge concert in Edinburgh a few years ago when a scotch producer passed, he played Annie Lennox and Dave Stewarts set too, the lucky #####, it was supposed to be the brand new heavies pianist but he took sick and my brother got the opportunity as he was there, but Alan actually said to my brother when i released some of my earliest stuff total rookie, tell Paul to tone down the reverb and delay on his vocal, it masks the character in the actual voice, it might sound cool, but experience will teach him, that is not the finish he needs, he did add tell him it is every Rookies first mistake, not bad eh from one of Britians best ever bass guitarists and personal friends with some of the biggest rock stars on the planet. your experience speaks volumes my friend having this valuable experience in our community is not only priceless but worth mentioning, hence the reason i point it out and it gave me another listen to the track as i wrote you, that brass bass is fire mate and the trumpet well it just simply trumpets

dimestop, I want to stress most of these people were just like me looking for a break in show business. They were acquaintances and some friends. I grew up with them, and some I went to school with such as Stevie Nicks. Some groups like Jefferson Airplane were 5 years older than me, so I didn't come in contact with them. One member of the Grateful Dead might have taught music at the local music store (Eddie Kramer's Music World). Somehow, we got involved with Acoustic Amplifiers, so when we went to LA we went backstage at a Doors concert at the Aquarius Theatre. This was just normal stuff. Without my "fear nothing" mother, Marie, and Pete Marino, the famous SF Bay Area record promoter, none of it would have happened. And I left the music scene at 24 and went to work in Silicon Valley. I didn't keep up those contacts. 50 years later I've tried to recontact, but some have died. Lastly, I should be in the Rock and Roll Hame of Fame (won't happen). The research has been done. In 1971, I was the first music producer to create a music video on video tape (before that music was made on film). I went all over Hollywood playing my 3-song music video to all sorts of music executives including Leon Russel, Shelter Records. This was 10 years before MTV went on the air. If I had a hit record maybe they would consider it. It's all just fond memories. Retired now for over 12 years, I just do music as a hobby. I admire you, Brother Mark, Manuela, the Squadd, many more here on LM. I just thank people for listening. Best always to you, Cosmo

Hi Cosmo, this is great! The whole brass section sounds awesome. I loved the fact that there's loads going on and it shifts tempo, and the jazz guitar towards the end was very cool. Great track.

Thank you Bullitt. This gives me a chance to acknowledge my wife of 12+ years, Vicki. I call her "Vicki One Take". I write what I want her to say, and she reads it one time into my phone. All the voice overs you hear by her are in one take. We were married a year when she decided to tell me she is a retired swimsuit model who used to work in the LA Fashion District. All I know is she is still beautiful and I love her. Thanks for allowing me to use your comment reply to thank my wife. Take care Bullitt, Cosmo

Loving the sax on this, Cosoms. I just listened to one of Kings pieces as well - you guys are really keeping it authentic, like the true OGs on Looperman. As for me, Im more of a click-and-drag, copy-and-paste kind of guy...no real experience with live instruments yet, and I dont see that changing anytime soon haha. This is a beautiful piece, truly.

Richard, we need all kinds of music to lift us up. I listened to your track and commented. It's great and inspirational. Many, many years ago, I wrote a gospel song titled "Stand by the River". It was picked up and recorded by a local gospel group organized by a gentleman named Sam Fair. I remember that fondly. I write and produce all kinds of music. In the next few weeks, I will post a track on LM titled "The Kings of Russian Rap". About as different from jazz as it gets. Thank you for listening. I'll watch for your posts. Best to you, Cosmo

That is real live sax by Steve Bone (UK). He gets all the credit. I guess I get some credit for editing and arranging it. He is so talented and also plays other woodwinds, flute, clarinet, and even Bluesharp. I think he has some videos on YouTube. Bottom line, he's excellent. I thank you on his behalf. Buen dia, Cosmo

Ben Edwards is an exceptional trumpet player. He backed up Amy Winehouse. He travels professionally all over the world with multiple groups and works as a studio musician. You can find videos on him on YouTube. I've said this before, Ben is a professional friend of mine. What is a "professional friend"? It means I have to pay him to be my friend. He's definitely worth what I pay him. He has appeared on many of my tracks over the years. Thank you for recognizing him. He's also from the UK. Cosmo

Cosmo this is a delicious sound , i agree with Mark its textured layers are fantastic, they give it a warmth, you can imagine this playing in a smokey filled jazz club, the sax is clearly the star of the show and plays its part in the spotlight but the instrumentation is all solid, the deep brass bass was a great contrast to the melodic elements, sounded like a euphoinum, but it grabbed my attention, wonderful sound congrats to all involved
Cosmo
Cosmo replied 6th May 2026 - 1 month ago
dimestop, thank you for your eloquent comments. I didn't realize all these elements are going on. That's interesting. A track like this takes me about 3 days. I did get a university degree in music and was professionally trained in studio production by David Rubinson of Columbia Records both many, many years ago. Today, I put my brain on autopilot and keep working on it until it sounds good to me. Best of life to you my friend, Cosmo

My aunt was from Sweden. She knew somebody associated with ABBA and submitted some of my songs to their producer when I was a teenager. I was told they planned to record one of my songs but I never saw it on an album or was contacted. Oh well, would have been great. I really enjoy and respect the loops you post. There is a song on the album "Late Night" I am working on called "After 2am". I used your Bass Tonka on it. I am sure I used more of your creations on other tracks. I always identify who contributed in the track notes on BandCamp. The album should be out in the next 60 days. You are the hero for sharing your talents with LM. Thank you so much, Cosmo

Cosmo! That glitch/scratch business is illegal! Saxes and brass arrangement is really really good. Lovely textures and tones with the keys and guitar. A wonderful fusion of Afro Cuban and a pinch of Latin American for good measure per my ears. Strong one Brother! Thanks for the mention too.

Weird, a lot of my previous replies disappeared. A computer glitch, I guess. Anyway, did you finally move? Send me an email about your new home. Your new tracks are really strong. No more talk about you having to come back from a long layoff, your music is all the way back and beautiful. I enjoy listening to your fusion and funk so much. You haven't heard from me because I am working on a jazz album "Late Night". I've done 8 of 12 new tracks so far for the album. "Jazz Waves" is the 8th. Talk soon Brother, Cosmo

I'd call it a great jazz soundscape, with the sax been the material of choice for the painter. When shadows or light and colors were asked, the saxophone was there to simply make it true. Great track and great musicians Cosmo. I really enjoyed this song.

Credit where credit is due. I joined LM 17 years ago. Back then Steve Bone posted many sax, flute and other loops. I was fortunate enough to back up most of his creations. If you don't sign into LM for a few years, your stuff disappears off the site. So now I back up everybody who shows real promise. There was a Spanish guitar player from Germany I thought was exceptional. After posting hundreds of loops he deleted it all and moved to IG. I have most of his stuff. I don't have room to store a half billion loops, but I have my best of the best. Steve Bone's saxophone is one of those. Good to hear from you Anthony, Cosmo

Robin, it is very hard to find good bass on LM. I used to make my own bass lines but now I go for expediency. One of the tracks on my new album "Late Night" took only 7 hours to produce and I am very proud of it. Sometimes I end up using drums with tuned 808 as a compromise. Tell you what, on my profile is my email. Send me an email and let's try an experiment. Cosmo

Man, its crazy to think how much i hated the saxophone for years. And now i cant get enough of it. My big brother is still the coolest dude in the world to me (just dont tell him I said that lol) and its easy to like the stuff that he does. Hes been on a jazz kick lately, so Ive been on that kick with him lol. You and Mark consistently upload songs with best use of Saxophones we've ever heard. All instrumentation is great, really tho. Another track that made us feel like we're in a dimly lit mini-club filled with cigar smoke and faces half hidden in shadow, listening to live music. Noir!

on Late Night feat Ben Edwards by Cosmo
Hey Mate, We should have a chat one day, as I think I would be mesmerized by the artistic connections and stories you would have would be mind-blowing. I am a retro-Futurisic sort of artist and tend to touch the esoteric, but damn, I appreciate the Histoire and ennui of what you have experienced. In my University days, I DJ'ed at the radio station. I met the local talent at the time in NYC, Pepi Marcello of the "Good Rats", who was promoting his own Son's band Marcello, and told me about the upcoming album from Meatloaf on CBS (Bat out of Hell 2). My friend drummed for the Rosenburgs before they kicked him out, as they were on the cusp of success. I served Dee Snyder and his Wife when I worked at Costco on Long Island Many years ago, and they were the absolute nicest people. Every time, I was so impressed as he trekked up to Quebec to sing with Isabelle Boulay on a Quebec T show last year. I moved to Quebec when I met and married my wife (Who used to sing Opera and introduced me to that world), and have loved the music up here as well. I love listening to the new and weird music of the world, and remixed and influenced a few artists, but mostly now I putter around and try to give some sage wisdom to the willing here on Looperman. I took a break for about 8 months as both my parents passed in the last year, and I found it hard to be inspired to write again.

crucethus, sorry it took over a month to respond but I have been working day and night on a new 12 song album "Late Night" and just completed it. Thank you for sharing your life experiences with us. We all need an outlet. Sorry to hear about your parents. I am pretty sure I can speak for your parents if they were like mine (also passed), they don't want their being gone to stop you. They want you to thrive. All those years they spent and shared with you were so you could live a happy and fulfilling life. Take care my friend, Cosmo
