This is cool, man. The piano hits are like some of that older 50 Cent/Dre style but those synths take it in a different direction. I think all it needs is a changeup or two somewhere to keep those piano hits and synth play fresh. Keep 'em coming, V. This is a nice track.
I'm not to familiar with this style of music, but I'm really enjoying this track! The shuffle feel of the percussion is especially cool, it seems very tribal. The bassline is very impressive. I'd like to hear what Alividlife's saw bass suggestion would do to this track, might be interesting. Very enjoyable listen, you've spiced up my day!
more distortion on the bass!!!! (3rd edit, No ... maybe.. just promptly i suppose.. there needs to be a rush of energy .. that I felt could be gained by a distorted saw wave style bass on this.. it would break the context of the mix.. but it might shock people...)
otherwise!

Yah, keep it up man.. I like how you give into the groove and then walk away from the groove.. really good stuff.
This one's very cool (ashe, ashe) if you catch my drift. Made me really think about the fusionary nature of the music from that part of the continent. Did you know the trumpet and other brass really enter into W. African music because of independence and exchange/economic aid from Cuba? Funny that, as most of the sensibilities of that brass came out of W. Africa to begin with. But where did those sensibilities originate? The region is the crossroads between everything south and the Mediterranean. The exchange of music has always been a major part of the underlying culture there.
The "Modern/Traditional" genre is really popular, and artists like Yousou N'dour, Baba Maal, Sekouba Bambino, and Salif Kieta do a lot of it (esp. Maal and Bambino) and are getting pretty well know in the West. The vocals in "Timbuktu to Bambino" really ground it in this genre as well (imho).
I wonder if you might push it a little more toward the "traditional" side somehow. Have you thought about trying some traditional strings (kora, molo, or godji) around the vocals? Might be outside what you're trying to do, but might be very cool, too. Just a thought.
I love this vibe. I like your style dude. I wish the strings were louder in the intro because i liked them so much. But its alright. Lovin this track. Good job.
To be honest, I've been trying to figure these different types of music, I think I as a listener am leaning towards trance, this track just confirmed it! Really like the melodies and the chilled vibe to it! Looking foward to more!
Cheers
