call this ultra odd, but i think the bass drum is a little loud... and bright?... maybe just tone it down a little bit and it will be fine, i cant hear much of the other drums (unless thats how you intended). but you got some pretty sick guitars going there, and very much like it aside from the level issues

Thanks for the review. Yea there's alot of things going wrong on this lol. The drums are processed to hell. Kick I know is pushing to near or is actually clipping. The sounds being drowned out isn't intentional. There's hats and crashes that don't come through at all. This track need's work. Alot of work lol. I think nows a good time to dust it off and apply some different techniques and see what comes out. Cheers and thanks for the great review. Cheers :D

I agree with thehumps, I see this as a sweet cinematic piece. Music like this just enlivens the imagination with imagery.

Great track

This is one of those cases where Brickwalling is a great idea!

I liked it!
Would like to hear some more like this too.

Thanks again for the review. This is the mastered version, you should hear the mix I made lol. This was a real big learning track. Saw first hand how to use Live much more efficiently and some tricks on how to mix. The description is missing the fact one guitar ran through a Reason 4 effect combinator. Also that Ozone 3, I think, was used aswell. Ozone also is just awesome. Funny thing is I started with the intention of making purely industrial metal or hybrid hip hop stuff. Somewhere I veered off. Not complaining though. Probably got lung cancer from standing at keyboards and controlers smokin a pack and hour lol. Cheers :D

Downtime indeed!
I feel the same way about mine
"I don't feel its finished it's just one of those track that just kinda stays that way I guess."

I kinda look at everything I do as that building block, and I always learn something new every track. Keep pushing and shoveling it, until I get some gold you know?

Edits didn't sound to noticeable?.. You can alleviate any noticeable clicks or pops from edits by going really deep in Record and using a volume fade on them so the cuts on the waveform don't sound audible?

I really dig your style nonetheless... That's the most important thing. You have a feel to your work.
I find that more important than technicalities.
MCHN
MCHN replied Unknown
Thanks again for another review man. Yea there are some areas on the edits that have fade in set really short. Its mostly the guitar that, truth be told, was done in multiple pieces. Not really a soloist but I can jam a box(s) here and there. When that click starts counting down though my brain shuts back off. Wish I could say that was a one shot take even with some f'k ups in it. Yea tracks in my mind never are 100% finished. I just never wanna George Lucas them and take the vibe it had away. This will remain a WIP still. Cheers and thanks again man :D

Phft- How could someone not like this? This is beautiful. So sad. Def. achieved what you set out to accomplish in this. I can see someone watching the world be destroyed and the emotions that would play across their face. Well done.

Thank you for the review and fav. Yea the situation in the song is one I think about alot. It's done alot in movies and in books, so I figured I would try a track. I also have to say the Major Tom character kinda played a bit in my head. Bowie and his influence lol. Thanks for the review :D

Thanks again for another review. Yea this track is unfinished. I'm starting to see a huge pattern in my stuff like this lol. This track I don't think I will touch again. Experiments in wave manipulation. I still like the sample I used. That may come back out some where again. Thanks for the review again Cheers :D

Maybe some slight , slight spacey sound, I like the idea of some in and out percs, An occasional hit here and there then maybe some full time ones as song the progresses, back to a little and then none.(reverbed crashes2).Dude, I've listened to it 3 times. Now I'm obsessing not only over mine, but yours too! lol. This track is awesome as is,(so far??). It's funny, I was just thinking yesterday how I find there's always something that can be added. Glad I'm not alone. At any rate, I've been a huge fan of your loops, (and now your tracks) from a distance for quite awhile. Back to when I was just practicing quietly and not getting involved here. Thanks. rick
MCHN
MCHN replied Unknown
Thanks for the review. Yea this isn't finished yet. The in and out perc is where I'm heading. Kinda had to listen to some big orchestral and classical pieces to get my head around that style of perc. It's not a full on rhythm but more to add to the moment. I have a decent sample set lined up so I should be jumping back to this again soon. Yea man track never feel finished for all of us. I haven't reached a limit with putting stuff into tracks but more of just not being able to mix it in altogether. Learning day by day lol. Also thanks for checkin the loops. Always cool to hear some feedback on them. Cheers and thanks again :D

Oh man, there are some things I'd love to do to this music... mostly have sex and smoke joints. I almost wish it had a little light scratching over it, but it's still totally a fav as it is!

Thanks for the review. Haha yea man. Now that's a reachable goal right there. Couldn't agree more with the scratches. Some real ambient scratch textures would be cool. This track still plays in my ipod alot so I might finally dust it off and update it. Been saying that for over a year now though. Just a lazy mofo sometimes though lol. Thanks and Cheers :D

Decided to check out yer oldest.

Man.. You were way better than me in 2008 lol

Drums are really simple no nonsense awesomeness.

Love it.
If you still got this.. I would love to make a dnb death metal hybrid? lol
If not no worries man.
I like your style.
Keeping my eye out for your future works!

Think this reason file still lurks around somewhere. It might also have nothing but presets lol. Drums I know were from the patch 'Mpc Roll Enumerator' or something like that. The effects were also presets lol. This track was like falling in love with Reason again. Simple idea sequencing but I've always been amazed at its depth. Weird thing is, I troll the forums and saw something about Clinthammer and you working on a Inferno concept album. This song was from a same idea. The dark wood of error. New error terror was like an intro idea. I may upload some of the other tracks from that. The others went in a different direction, more downtempo. I also gotta check out Clint's stuff now that I'm thinking about it. Cheers again man, really appreciate the reviews. I'll be making my way back to jam out to some more of your stuff :D

... ... my thoughts?
FAVED.

What the f8ck? 115 listens and only 1 review?!?
That is just ...
I am ashamed.

Ok... to be honest.. this sounds amazing.

It's giving me chills... ...
Some thoughts?
....
Umnnnn
I am kinda floored lol. Try.. if you layer.. I do this with vocals in studio's and with rappers, but making 3 tracks, and trying to split channels left right and then a center.
But ... with just one type of string, you can get into crappy phase areas.

...
It's amazing man.
I am shocked you haven't gotten a ton of reviews and downloads.
:/
MCHN
MCHN replied Unknown
Thanks again man. This is still a wip track as I'm still trying to get some percussion in there. I added some other layers with more verb to distance it out. Theres also alot of newer techniques I've been picking up for orchestral stuff as far as panning and verb placement. On some of the violin(s), minus the solo one in the first verse, they are layered out hard l and r, and then another 2 set about +/- 30. I think my sub mixes are off alot actually so it maybe kinda pointless to have so much. There are somethings that do phase here and there. I think on the update I will move it to Records mixer as it has way more features to mix and counter that stuff. Also the vocals might get a better mix. Theres slight distortion on them here and there lol. Thanks again for the review Cheers :D

Yay!
Someone else who kinda thinks like me with metal!

I knew I had heard your track Voyager, which is freaking awesome.

This one is damn cool too!
I know how it goes with the old stuff... I really dug the singing like synth/piano/guitar/voice?!? Awesome. Oh it's guitar.

Hehe... Centrist kinda has a point.. But I love Doom Metal.. Stoner Metal...

I just like aggression and brute wattage and saw waves lol.

Definitely would love to see you do an updated version or the same kinda style... reiteration?

Great job on the drums btw... I think the hardest freaking part about DAWs is making drums sound half-way decent and you rocked it like you were sitting on the throne.
MCHN
MCHN replied Unknown
Thanks for the review. Hah first time I get a compliment on some drums. It's something I really hate about drum machines and programming them. Never sound like a real drummer. Need to get some piano drumming skills lol. But yea the dirtier metal stuff is always my fave. Faster is better sometimes though I agree. I still sit on a ton of slow dirge metal stuff that will come out soon. Thanks for the review :D Cheers

Well I'm gonna be the first to review this song. It's not bad, you have a few changes that work together well and you have some interesting sounds to mix things up a bit. Maybe liven up the drums a bit, throw in a few rolls here and there. Overall a decent track, not sure weird is the correct genre but I don't know where it would go either, ha!

Drums have always been my weak point lol. I agree though. Too many tracks have lacked in the drum dept. over the years. It's something that's become such a bad habit. This track got taken apart a few times and some of it's fx were used elsewhere. In it nearly 2 years this is the first review on it so I gotta say thanks. Weird tracks never get to much attention so it means alot lol.

P.S. It's good to hear that your tracks are getting out there for Tv, video, commercial stuff. Hope to see your name in a blockbuster movie someday :D Cheers

Hey MCHN,you gotta heavy sound here.I would like to do some metal,I gotta work on that sound...Oh,and those heavy drums are a metal must have.can't complain about the tempo though...only you know the feel you were looking for and slow and heavy works for me,like the other reviewer said...it's just preference and it's also my rut,I allways get in a slow funky pocket with a lot of my rock and have to climb out.
Very good.

Hey Allen, thanks for the review. I had to go back and listen to this again, kinda forgot about it lol. Yea theres time where falling into that slow tempo groove is nice. Hard to believe its been more than a year since I recorded this. I still like to play in those slow tempos. Year's of playing at higher tempos made me enjoy coming back to that slow stuff. Definitely need to work on something metal sounding again. Thanks for the review. Cheers :D

Some very nice string work man, I see what you mean about layering it up a little tho. Even if it's just meant to be orchestral could do with some kind of a percussive element in there to mix things up. Maybe the odd triangle, snare roll or two and a timpani? That's what I'd do anyway man, come check out one of mine when you get a chance fam. Keep them coming, looking forward to a finished ver of this, lots of potential.

EDIT: You're welcome man anytime, it's a good track. Come check out one or two of mine when you get a chance fam.

Thanks for the listen and review. I agree with the perc. The original perc I had on this one is just muted as it became obvious using a drum machine wasn't gonna work. Still putting together a sound bank to compliment the track more. Will update as soon as I get a good perc track in. Thanks for the review man, means alot considering I kinda hid the track away and all. Cheers :D

I really like slow tempo numbers for a few reasons...their difficult to get right and when they do it's usually with a slow drip impact that in the end has you totally submerged within the sound..this track is no exception, dark, slightly foreboding a chilled journey into uncharted territory.....excellent vibe and way chill!..cheers planet :)

Very late reply sorry. Thanks for the review first hehe. I agree totally with the difficulty of slower material. Most the new stuff I have tinkered with is 70 to 55 bpm, and its a little hectic. Trying to keep someone locked in and get themselves immersed is a bit hard in the slow range. Worth every second of effort though. Thanks for the review again and sorry for the l8 reply. Cheers :D

Haha, yea that koto has a great sound for being hyper sampled. It comes from the Kontakt Super Asia or Secret Asia sound set. Bit of time to take it and put it into Reason, but worth the effort I guess. Hopefully one day I may come across a real koto at a decent price. Till then vst's and sound sets will do lol. Cheers and thanks again for the review :D
