I`m a fan of Rode mics...use them a lot...I have often thought it would be fun to take a pair of mics & portable recorder out to some of my favf country/wilderness places and do some recording...so can appreciate what I think you had in mind here....the cars (with the reverb) do add a darker sound that overcomes some of those more natural sounds,...but I guess that is the real world....interesting promenade...good for you...Ed
Basically I bought those microphones to record church organ but they have also a directional capsules so I can record other instruments as well, maybe I will try them for my old upright piano soon...
Still I need more time to get more seriously into the music and the proper recording process. For now my actual 'real life' is still far too demanding and sadly there's quite limited time for music.
Thanks again for the nice words and some interesting input on the equipment used here. As always it is much appreciated.
at first i was like "whaaaaaaat?"
then i got it and it was awesome.
definitely experimental, probably why i like it.
Feel like the cars added a nice warm drone underneath (Oh god were using cars on the highway as instruments now?)
course it also gave it creepy undertones.
but all in all, this is just. so. interesting. XD
I much appreciate your comment on this one! Yes, in a sense it's quite experimental track but I experimented only with that slight reverb addition - I had to use it because I think that basically all very common ambient/surrounding daily sounds definitely appear as quite boring to the 'average listener' (but in fact they are far too underrated - they always stay moment by moment unnoticed and constantly ignored by average audience). Therefore I love them even more!
I believe that John Cage was somehow a very spititual guy, like Tarkovsky. His epic highway scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rswYl7RLRNE was a main inspiration for creating this recording.
I really like your current green avatar by the way. I had a green version of mine's as well (but sadly lost it). Everything is really turning green now (in a good sense) haha.
Thank you again and all the best greetings to you,
hey i got better sound now would you like some futures songs where you let me cut in this and use some effect i miss the track :P it pure happeyness. try listen to my track and lmk
firstly you must present something useful to be eligible for online collaboration meaning that you need simply to offer something good instead of keeping on 'try listen to my track' looperman spam comments.
this is cool man, something a little different. You've let people download, would it be cool to have this in the background of one of my songs for ambiance and add a bit of character? If not thats cool man :D
BTW at 1.00 it sounds like a horror movie! haha sounds like its straight out of the Alien movies... id check your back yard for an Xenomorph... just sayin' haha :P
haha thanks:)
I am happy that you liked the strangeness in the recording. Just trying my new equipment in here.
And yes, feel absolutely free to use it - sample it and transfom.
I said 'that's not cool' to centralsdev because yesterday he has uploaded a snippet of my recording without any significant changes, as if it was he's original production.
My inspiration here was dark ambient music by Rich/Lustmord
yes this is pretty much the same. you just uploaded a fragment of my recording without giving me credits. that's not cool.
I suggest you to post a link to the original sound source every time when using others work.
and again: try to produce full song sometime, with proper ending and structure. Try harder.
this recording was about 20 min long. notice how gently I faded in/out this snippet. Also I do not get your point on hall reverb. There's already a huge reverb added to my recording.
thanks a lot for your comment. but wait... the sounds of the real world become samples the very moment they are registered. so basically they are samples too...
If you'd be willing to send me the basic stems (your piano part, the bass part and the others, etc.) I'd be willing to try and mix it for you for your purposes! Just hit me up at ehiracheta2@islander.tamucc.edu if you're interested. No biggie if not!
i like this track, the vocals are beautifully sung and even though the mix is a bit hot, it still plays well, if you could just get the piano part to sync up or maybe just remove it and replace with a nice simple harmoic lead, or even wood wind i think you would have a really ok track
thanks for your comment. I do not really get why it should be a 'hot' mix, it is actually very entirely umnixed song.
I won't be reworking this one eventually replacing piano with flutes or bassoons or whatever but thanks for your suggestions. It is appreciated.
Ahh okay, that makes sense! Don't get me wrong - the piano was played most beautifully! I apologize if I came across with a "better than thou" attitude as that was not my intention by any means :) I look forward to hearing the upright with this one!
thanks again. I won't be reworking this one. These last months I had too many sketchy projects. Just testing out of what I can do. This song is not mine - please check out vocalist's soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/csssss
I am trying to be open to any kind of suggestions as possible so thanks!. It is appreciated.
I will simply just keep commenting on here to hit the 1000 listens or more with this one some day lol, just a thought
I like the chords on the acoustic :P The vocal is beautiful! The piano is too close in. Needs to be pulled back to make a much more blended sound. Right now, it sticks out too far out and makes for a slightly uncomfortable listening experience :P
I mostly agree with what you're saying - there's no proper mixing here - it is basically just a raw sketch of a song. I think as a sketch it works perfectly, as a finished recording - not really. The piano is not a real piano but sample-based vst piano played from the digital piano keyboard. So this is quite artificial in itself as I had to emulate the expression of a real acoustic piano.
Still I would rather say that the piano is nicely balanced and remains very corresponding. The only problem is that it has some 'punch' effect - I do not like that too. But do not worry - I intend to record my upright piano very soon and will hopefully return with some more acoustic music.
these oldies type chillout tracks are missing these days ppl are forgot them. nice composition, i liked mostly the vocal in the middle! nice work! cheers!
Hey Alex, so to follow up on the panning thing. If Lech's vox is a pella then it's really easy. Take a wave editor and make the mix (of the pella) mono (usually under the edit function. Then split it into right and left tracks. Add a small bit of stereo delay and voilĂ your in the middle again. If your adding onto one of his songs then it's a bit more tricky.
Steve
Thanks a lot! Actually I won't be removing excellent Lech's panning because it is excellent as it is. This morning my FedEx delivered me my new headphones and after listening to lech's vocals for hours I feel in love with them. Thanks so much for the message but I can't do that! Alex
