Nice collab fellas! Cool groove and a great jam, especially that heavy breathing by Zappo!! My friends in a band back in the 80's wrote a song about mr. Holmes but it was a fast rock tune, lol, he was a legend and worthy of songs!!
Nicely put together, nice funky sound, love it Dave!
Hey Wayne..thanks man!..when I play slap bass (which is rarely)I guess it always reminds me of porn music or Sienfeld or something like that, hence the tribute track...most people have seen a flic of his I would imagine! lol...cheers mate, much appreciated. Dave :)
Listened to two other tracks first and just couldn't get into them, then I landed on this solid track and slipped into the groove with a dip of the hip. Groovy groovy groovy. And the lady seems happy.
Thanks man,I appreciate the honesty and I'm glad you enjoyed this one,I have wondered about porn stars and if they enjoy it...I'm thinking the answer is hell yes! lol..cheers Dave :)
who would have thought that he did all that and still perform.
i can understand the heavy breathing when in fact, this jazzy-funk of a track takes mine away just by a listen........
whoooo...i need a cigarette..hehehe
my respects planet, and to all involved.
Hey Joe,thanks buddy!..mucho appreciato from the guys and myself,if they ever do a documentary on MrHolmes maybe this would be good lead in music!lol...cheers mate an thanks again for your listening time! Dave :)
hey mate..thank you for getting into it!..I guess I always play my age the 70's were definitely my wild oats days! lol...again thank you for the cool review! cheers Dave :)
I never thought I'd hear a track dedicated to King Dong, but I guess it makes it stand out, if you'll forgive the pun!
Apart from all that, this is a solid piece of Jazz Funk, love that laid back sax and 80's feel guitar, the bass line keeps this on track to the end. Neither of these genres are my favourite, but you can't knock real talent and you shouldn't pass it by either.
Man you sure that lady was with Johhnny Holmes? She seems very subdued!!!
Haha..well I guess they'd been at it for awhile before I sampled this particular performance! lol..thanks for taking the time to give it a listen,it's very much appreciated!!..cheers Dave,Steve and Detlef :)
This is great. I normally hate fanfare sounds in music, but this works here very well &ironically;. This is musicianship on another level, plane, planet, zone (you pick a realm). Drums and percussion are mixed perfectly. and the way it ends. bowing out with a roll of percussion and a glissando from the fret-less bass. Marvellous performance.
Steve
I'm blown away by it all. I thought I was a perfectionist, but this track, like the others of yours I have listened too is frightening. A place for everything and everything in its place. Great musicianship, great music.
Talk about atmosphere from the stormy intro to the chill guitars to the spanish trumpet. Nicely placed together, sir. Really inspiring piece. Keep it up!
Hey Steve ,thanks man! much appreciated..no that's not a theremin it's a synth patch Zappo has created..cheers mate, all the best from Dave and Detlef. :)
This is a beautiful piece of work. I love the 12 string guitar and the trumpet. I love the flow and the melody. It's like taking a walk on a spring morning and breathing in the fresh air and watching the new life grow all around and feeling the sun on your face. You know you just want to SOAK IT ALL UP. That's what it's like listening to your song.
Hey mate, glad you enjoyed the tune!I love playing your namesake every time I pick it up I get all jingerly jangly inside!lol..cheers Dave and Detlef :)
Beautiful bass sound.
The guitar solos are all interesting and well played (the first ones are a bit more "mainstream" and the last one is a bit more "exotic")
The track is very good: no doubt the product of two great musicians.
Thanks.
Domenico
Fusion at its best. Great guitar sweep/lick masters with just a hint of shred me thinks lol. Love the way the bass moves around as if it is looking for a space but never quite finds it. Masterly.
Hey there mate..thanks for dropping by!....some times when Detlef(Zappo) is playing guitar and your accompanying,it feels like your running around in an air raid trying to find a fallout shelter! lol cheers Dave
Hi Pat..thanks for dropping by for a listen, very much appreciated!....at some point when you've got a little free time Detlef and I would love to write a song for you.
cheers Dave :)
Haha!...thanks DT,that has happened to me occasionally listening to something I liked and my first reaction has always been bloody silly wearing my mp3 player and not paying attention!lol....thank you again for your musical support it's very much appreciated! (have to get another tune made that will make you miss your stop!) cheers Dave :)
Okey let's take a breath... couldn't do it the last 7 minutes.
This is real fusion. with sweet psych elements. nice!
Structure is great harmonics, everything.
It reminds me a bit on a free jazz vinyl I heard a time ago. Forgot the name. unfortunately.
And normally there is no space for a small frog like me to critize around, but the lead guitar. Technique is great, no discussion. But it feels like a lack of emotion here. I miss the personal participation of the player in this piece of music. Could also be, that it is so quietly in the background. I hope you now what I mean and do misunderstand.
Hi Glocke..thanks mate for your truthful review!..I hear what your saying, sometimes things work out well in the digital domain as in mixing and mastering and sometimes they don't quite...I agree with you and would have preferred a more upfront guitar presence..cheers Dave :)
