Description : Using white noise only to sculpt some hi hats. Using Simple Side to shape the hats and Magic Dice to add a bit of space. DD filter to get rid of some unwanted low frequencies. Hi hats made the very old-fashioned way!

Description : Moar techno moar kicks moar rave! This is my RD-9 through the mixer's reverb for the warehouse space feel. The hats were recorded separately and mixed back in with sidechain. The sub is from Odin 2 and the slight riser is just white noise from the Edge. Techno techno techno all the way down.

Description : Drum loop made with Battery 4 and run though Supercharger GT with the saturation turned up. Not sure I like this more than my hardware drums machines but it hits pretty solid.

Description : More hard techno kicks because I know people love them! These were made entirely 'in the box' with just Ableton Drum Racks and Ableton FX (mostly reverb, saturation, sidechaied compression and autofilter). You don't always need all the expensive stuff to make good sounds (not that Live is cheap haha).

Description : These kick loops are created using a method I learned from Aussie legend Mickey Nox. Basically you just sidechain a sound to a nice kick to create a rumble from almost anything. For these three loops I sidechained and filtered full hardtechno loops (some of my own earlier loops) and the results were pretty massive.

Description : Always experimenting with ways to get more out of the RD-9 drum machine. This time I fed the raw audio from the hardware into an FX chain in Reason and sidechained it. The result is a thick rumble but retaining really pronounced transients. Pretty cool and quite different to Ableton.

Description : I learned this rumble technique from Captain Pikant on YouTube. Basically all you do is send the tom toms through a filter and reverb and you have a deep rumble - it really shakes the speakers. I simply sent the outputs of the RD-9 drum machine through two different chains; this kick is compressed and the tom is through huge reverb and filtered very low. RD-9 only - no post processing required.

Description : Behringer Edge analog synthesis sound design, this time a much harder kick that could be used for hardtechno, schranz or old-school hardstyle. Could be used for more modern hardstyle with more distortion added. I have kept this loop super basic so it is easy to cut out a single kick for your own sampler or drum machine.

Description : Another Edge loop, pure analog techno goodness. No other processing whatsoever - this is just the edge using one VCO to make the Kick and the other VCO to make the bass pulse.

Description : The Edge analog percussion synth can make just about any kick you can think of. This one is a 909 style kick with rumble added with reverb/distortion/filter and sideschained compression.

Description : RD-9 for the kick itself and the clap. SP-606 for the hats, with a janky swing effect on them. The whole lot is recorded through an overdriven and compressed pair of inputs on the mixer. No computer FX added.

Description : Straight 909 techno kick with noisebed from the Edge and FX on the noise from an FX600 pedal. Overdriven through the mixer for max crunch.
