I don't mind the guitars. I think they sound pretty good, but could be panned.
The vocals on your chorus are too loud, though I like the layering. Well written.
I like everything I've heard from you. Always sentimental and heartfelt. Lower vocal volume in the chorus and spread guitars would help. There are a few shaky notes in the vocals, but I REALLY like your singing. So much character.
Thank you for sharing, and getting back to making music.
Man, great guitar lines! I really liked the first "A" part a lot. Heard a talk-boxy sound going over it.
The heavy riff, or "B" part is tasty as hell! I might not repeat both three times. I'd do an A-B-A-B- and then on to something new to continue the song. Sounds like it has more to say.
Man, I dig it! I like the guitar in all your stuff.
Some nice riffery here. Good distortion tone and some thick chunkiness.
Sounded a bit too slow to really get into, like if it was 10 or 15 bpm faster it would carry better.
Your guitar sound and playing reminds me of "Russian Circles". A good band with no vocals, just established riffs and a nice, subtle change throughout each song. They don't change enough for me, but they conjure some good feelings.
This is the second track from you I've listened to and I have to ask a drums question. Seems both tracks had the same odd drum sound, like the left and right are playing the same lines, but with different kits, the right being the slightest bit later than the left. Is this at all correct?
The left does sound earlier than the right. Just thought I'd ask if that is your desired effect. They stand out quite a bit like that.
you are correct....but the same drum kit...to give the vocals more of a back up i cut and pasted from one chorus to the other..same for the guitars... and in between, i slid the right from the left for more reverb...sure i could of just made it plain .....lol.....
I like what you have going on here, but the drums sound like they're maxing out and cutting out the rest of the track.
I like what you have written, the vocals have character which is a huge part. You have something playing too loud in your DAW. This will sound really good once it's mixed a bit.
Nice didg intro. Hell nice intro all together. Pretty heavy guitar tones here. Squalling line over the top is rather nice as well.
1:13 line that is introduced and used as transition is very tastefully done. Love the downward bend. I like the hard stops and the general attitude here. Background is pretty engaging as well. Minute and a half in and this is the best thing I've heard on this site for a long time.
Damn! Rises, falls, breaks and then soothes with lovely vocals.
2:32 snippet is very cool. A lot of very effective background elements. I'm rather impressed. Please tell me you are playing some of these instruments. Sounds really effin good!
Got some nice distortion tones here! You seem to be doing more with the guitar as well. The leads seem to be more lead-ish.
Parts remind me of RATM, like the rhythm track that stands alone at 1:15.
Nice run at 2:35, but you lose steam and it kind of Jengas on you. I know the feeling. That shit is hard to do for more that 6 or 8 runs before it falls apart. Still sounds good.
I do dig it, and you should make a little more Looperman time. The more guitarist that are here, the happier this place is.
Thanks, part of my problem is I will spend lots of time working on tone. It can get tedious but I love getting Great Tone.
This track seemed to open itself up to me for a more leadish lead, if that makes sense. :)
I always take any mention of sounding like RATM as a big compliment so thanks for that.
I wanted an awkward end to the run at 2:35 but didn't exactly nail it. :)
As for making more time for The Loop, already am working on it. Have to shuffle some stuff around but will do my best.
Thanks for giving it a listen and for leaving some feedback. It always helps and is appreciated.
Thanks so much for your listen and encouraging words. Let me know if you ever think of the voice it reminds you of. I had found this pella about a year ago and knew I could do something with it, and finally I did.
The tubular bells were a VST that came with my Sonar DAW. I played them with the symphony, and have always love them, so I use them when befitting.
Intro guitar almost doesn't sound like real guitar. Reminds me of Bon Jovi. After that it sounds much more natural.
Heavy parts are heavy, nothing really new going on. Choppy rhythm guitar from 1:43 on sounds a bit tinny and thin. I like the orchestral elements.
I like a lot of your lead tones as well. Their tones make the rhythm stuff sound lower quality.
I see what you mean when you say people tell you that you sound like a mix of artists. The chugging stuff that I'm not too fond of reminds me of Coheed and Cambria's "Welcome Home". Your leads were a bit gilmour-esque, but with a touch of EVH.
Stoked to find another guitar player on here. I'm mostly a bassist but I do a bit of everything, like you.
Hope you don't mind the constructive criticism. It's what I appreciate about this place the most. Honest feedback.
Evan criticism is what I need! Nearly all of the tracks are years old and sat on my drive collecting digital mites! I don't get to do much of on my own work as I would like to. But, I hope to put some new tracks up soon, plus I'm learning how to do it all kind of thing without producers and engineers doing it. Tracks like My Mission and Swamp Rat both were done early January this year. I really enjoy your tracks as well. You color wonderfully and that is rare within itself. And nice to meet you as well! -Mark
Thanks Evan! I appreciate any criticism, it's what makes one thrive to accomplish good work. Yeah, the drums were beta monkey and sadly not one series of theirs is equalized as a standard. I eventually went to addictive drums :) I'll be releasing alot of back logged tracks and anyone is welcome to take them to a new level. I hate seeing them just collecting dust on my project drives.
Man, this is really good. Vocals are great, lyrics are not empty. There is feeling in this. Reminds me a bit of Third Eye Blind. Very nice to hear something like this. You made my evening, and the track has been buried for 5 years.
The kick and the vox seemed to make the track clip a lot, but I really like what you've got here.
Guitars are a sweet sound on this site, and yours were pretty good. Not really any particular moments to point out. Some pretty good squalls and guit fills. I liked it. Listening to the archives here, glad I found this.
Nearly seven years and no love on this track. Shame. It's good stuff.
Simple guitar starts it off, but it's the percussion that catches my ear. A bit progressive in the beginning.
Vocals are very solid. Great character in the voice.
Man, I like all the different instruments. Love the constant shifting.
You ended the looped guitar right when it was getting old. Nice. Lead guitar is not bad at all. Sounds a bit empty there, then we're back to the looped guitar.
Percussion break is a nice touch. Watery sounds are neat.
I'll be checking out your other stuff now that I've found you here. Man, I had to dig deep to find something good from the past.
Thanks for sharing, and thanks for having something seven years old, yet fresh. The loop needs you back.
0:18 plucked strings are pretty nice. Good feel to them.
Afterward is a darker, less positive line.
0:48 Similar guitar line that sounds rather good, followed by more of the odd riff.
At the 2:00 mark, your cymbal cuts off unnaturally. You then reverse the same drum line, and have it come back into the forward drums. Nice idea. Could probably be done to sound more natural, but it's not bad!
I would add more, but you didn't, so I shall stop here. As said before, more parts and more time spent on the drums would benefit this track, but it's still pretty solid!
There's no auto-tune vocals here at all. This person has a very good singing voice, no need for auto. I think maybe you got confused with the "telephone" FX I used in a couple of spots, maybe? Not sure but I wanna make clear that this vocal track has no atuo-tune. Just a really good singer.
Some pretty pastoral sounds that lead to some very contemplative guit-speak.
I keep thinking, Where are the drums? You hold off for a good while, and come in with a very different beat than I kept expecting. That is the kind of thing that makes a track memorable to me. Very engaging and energetic guitar work in the second half.
As you well know, sometimes you get inspired by something and one of the first thoughts is "how can I work this idea into a song"? Tumbleweed referred to it as picture painting and essentially that was the goal with this. But since there is no distorted guitar in traditional American Indian music it was never going to be recognized as such. I knew that going in but was still compelled to give it a shot.
Yeah considering the progression I was thinking that many may not give this a full listen. Thanks for your patience man.
There is a town here called Comanche, which is about half way between Ft. Worth and Abilene. Its a small rural town but is well known for surrounding areas being haunted by Indian spirits. I may gather some gear and a generator and venture out there this summer and serenade them. Freak out some of the locals!
This was better than expected! Great vocal character and positive lyrics. I also like the changes, helps to break it up.
The only suggestion I can muster is I felt the vocal panning was too extreme from left to right. Not a big complaint at all. I still really dig this track.
Thanks allot for chiming in, my friend. Yeah, I used the surround effect on just that ambient vocal track. I didn't (and usually don't) pan the main vocals or bass tracks on my songs. I thought that vocal intro would give it an interesting effect going from one speaker to the other.
Sound reminds me of "Butterfly Effect". Sounds reasonably well done in getting tones. However, it sounds very mainstream. Not a lot of character, though I do like the main riff.
I mean no offense. It just sounds like a hundred other songs from the late 90's,.... a musical era I love, and I'm guessing you do as well.
It was all well done, written and arranged. The edits do make it sound assembled measure by measure. Just need some crossfades and that problem is gone.
You're good at what you do, and this is a very likable track.
Hi Evan ! Thanks for listen the tune.
Yeah, i get what you mean, i was hoping to get that reaction, make a song that sounds like something to can hear on any rock radio, thats a compliment to me haha and well , the character, im still working on that ;)

1:32 lead is very fitting for the track. I like it a lot.
Voice reminds me of someone but I can not place who. Damn! That's gonna bug be.
Solos have a very classic tone. Boston?
I like the church-bells. I've been looking for some huge ominous ones.
This one was enjoyable all the way around.

This track has some awesome guitar work. The lead tone is fantastic! Minimal and tasteful.
Track sounds like it's hitting a limiter really hard. Snare hit drops the volume of everything else.
Nice flangey rhythm guitars. Bass is all background.
Would be great with vocals. Chorus sounds A LOT like the chorus to one of my tracks. Hangin Round Aceldama.
Good piano outro, though the piano sounds pretty fake.
Only complaint is the maxing out of the drums.
I enjoyed this quite a bit!

Intro reminds me very much of Journey.
Guitar leads are very nice throughout. Singing with the guitar. Loved it.
Yes, there is a fair amount of cheese in this song, but it sounds heartfelt. Strings and piano go well together. Has a bit of a Meatloaf feel.
I loved hearing the guitars. Not many active guitar players on Looperman anymore.
Take care
