You have a great voice for spoken word. The lyrics are excellent and you spoke them very well. The organ was not only fitting for the text, it was perfect. I will definitely have to check out more of your work.
Love the guitar and horn on this baby. The atmosphere reminds me of walking around downtown Montreal for some reason. I can almost see the lights brighten the summer evening, hordes of beautiful women walking along the street off to their party destination for the night, I and my friends watching with great expectations for the evening. Ahhhh..... Youth is too soon lost.
A beautiful piece, sad, but beautiful. I'm sure your friend would have been proud to know both that you were a great friend and that you would create something so lovely to honour his memory.
First of all I was impressed by how you set the scene and the atmosphere. The sirens going off in the background tells me it's prob the big city and the flow of the music brings images of just walking down the street watching all the confusion and chaos as if not really a part of it. The music presents almost as happy go lucky. Well done. I really like this track.
definitely feeling the darkness but there also seems to be a great feeling of anticipation, like when you're watching a movie and the music is telling you something is going happen, but it doesn't give it to you right away. This is a well constructed piece and I very much like your production.
I think you have a pretty good piece here. Could serve well as a cinematic piece. Some spoken word might enahnce it quite a bit, but it stands alone just fine.
hey john!
yeah its missing alot this due to me just getting bored with it tbh..
but i will get back to it sometime and do something with it.. i tend to start trax and leave them ,get a large back log of stuff then go back to them with a fresh mind and finish them of!!
i will add some vocal fx, just need the right source..if you have any suggestions let us know !!!
cheers mate ...
I was not expecting anything like this when I saw the title and though I gotta listen to this, but I am suprised in a very good way. This is a very sweet piece of music. Love the simplicity of it. It has a minimal quality to it I find very appealling especially given that it needs no extras. Well constructed and well produced.
haha yeah the title...well let's just say I didn't exactly put a lot of thought into it, at least in relation to the song. I'm glad you liked the track though, and I appreciate the review.
Very clever. Almost as clever as John Lennon's Nutopian National Anthem (on the lp it was two minutes of silence). This piece demonstrates a similar line of thought.
Absolutely beautiful. Great backing track, great lyrics and great vocals. Plus, your production skills on this track are top notch. I'm going to have to check out more of your work soon.
Thank you, John. Definitely put my heart on the seam of my shirt on this one. Hard to do on purpose but definitely something I enjoyed making.
Keep it up on your side!
Steve
A great fusion of elements here. Interesting use of silence and changeups. I think you've got a great track here. I look forward to seeing what else you come up with.
I do love horns. And you used some great loops here. I would suggest checking out some of the horn loops on this site and consider introducing a bit more variation. That notwithstanding, you've got a very nice piece here.
This track seems to inspire feelings of hope admid great adversity. Very well produced and a treat to the ears. I look forward to hearing it with some vocals.
