Haha... My browser nearly runs out of memory while scrolling to the bottom to find the form for post a comment, Anyway! You are great! I just can't stop laugh, i mean, this is great!
Imagine a scene with performers, a psychedelic drummer surrounded with mad guitar players and dancers. What a show!
I notice the wide stereo effect around 2:20, very good!
Yes, I know what you mean about having to scroll down so far. People have said that before to me. Most of the words are mine.
While most people on the site don't seem to have a lot to say in track reviews or replies, I do. I almost use it as a way for me to write out some of my own ideas and reflections. On my own music and other people's.
I like the idea of your live band scene for this. Sounds like a crazy, heavy party. I'm thinking there might even need to be two full kit drummers. There are a few bands who do this, actually. The Melvins have sometimes appeared with two drummers (I'm not talking about an extra percussionist) when they teamed up with the band Big Business and the band Flica (quite interesting group, with good lead singer) have two drummers all the time.
I say two drummers because I use multiple kits on this track (as I do on most tracks) and sometimes two are playing at the same time. Actually, during the heaviest section towards the end (from around 5:30 onwards) there are two different kits playing all the time. Sometimes both are playing exactly the same thing. That's one way to get a heavier sound! See my reply to thehumps for a little more detail on the drums in this.
You'd need at least two guitarists for this live. Probably a third as well to cover the slide resonator guitar parts. And a bass guitarist and also a synth player as there are a few bits of synth in this too. Oh, and there's a lot of synth sub bass going on underneath the bass guitar. I guess I would probably be one of the live guitarists.
I didn't use any dancers to make this track but let's add them live, why not.
I would definitely go to see that show. Of course I would! Maybe I would get in for free.
Yes, I use lots of wide stereo effects in my music. Actually, I think I pretty much always try it out on guitar parts. Sometimes it doesn't help but it often really does. And I automate it to either add or reduce intensity or power. Or to create more space in the mix. You don't want everything always panned wide.
You see - this reply means it will take the next person who comments even longer to scroll to the comment box.
;) yep, that's actually me being me without trying to write an awesome track, just a fun, dont give a .....track. I guess it worked ;) Thanks very much!
Funny to listen to, make me happy. The background is a bit out of tune but it makes this song to what it is all about. Having a party and feeling fine!
I like this one. The song is experimental and surprise the listener through the whole song. Long time since I've heard something as good as this one. Nice arrangement and i really hope to here more like this from you!
I dunno about what to say about this one... Maybe it's all done already? What's more to add to it? This one brings me into a fantasy land, I think I am down at the harbour but at the next time I'm in the shadows deep down the forrest. This might be one of my fuzzy best comments ever :)
It's really a pleasant feeling when you know that your work evokes pictures of imagination in people's minds. Thx alot for stopping by to listen and comment!:)
As i mentioned before in previous posts to other people, I'm a sucker for old 8bit commodore-64 sounds. Blip - blop. This song has got all of that! This is just like a good old shoot out tv-game. Maybe It's not what I call a drum and bass track, but I like it alot!
Thanks Anders ;)
I am glad you liked it, I would call it drum and bass because of the drum pattern used. It's like a typical DnB pattern. Haha let's get someone to program a game for it then ^^
This is great stuff. My favorite part is between 1:07 - 1:15 and 3:19 - 3:27. I'm weak for expressions like that.
I Also notice your time spent on puting together variations in the arrangement which makes a huge difference in this song comparing to if they would been left out.
I think you do it well and this is an execlent song that makes me think of the group Garbage in the 90's. Anyway, great job
Hello Anders :)
Sorry to answer so late .
Aaah, I'm so glad you noticed I worked a lot (though it surely can sound better !) on thoses variations !
Wow ! Thx for the comparison, Sir ! It makes me real happy .
Merci beaucoup for your warm and supportive comment ;)

Hi!
So clean, so fresh and the each instrument is so well placed one in its own layer which makes all crystal clear. Good work with the rhythm it does not sound sampled, or is it?
Hello. Yes, this does have quite a clean sound and people really seem to enjoy this one. It's me in my pure electro mode. Most of my stuff has a lot of guitar, bass and banjo as well as acoustic drums (though they are from EZ and Superior Drummer).
So much time spent mixing this to get good separation between all the instruuments. The drums here are a mixture of programmed electro hits (eg from the classic 606 drum machine) and manipulated drum loops. The djembes are not a loop but single hits that I programmed, though they don't sound perfect (because they are just single hits, all at the same velocity). But I guess they sound good enough.
The whole track was made in Reason so I'm sure you will be interested to know that one of the main drum loops is the very first drum loop that loads up in the REX player in Reason 1.0. I love it and have used it many, many tracks. Check out my track Circular Motion to hear more of that same drum loop (but at a different tempo) as it's a better track than this one. And made a long time ago.
The grand piano combined with the strings is much of a winner in this song. It has got the feeling of a winter morning, I would say. It's perfect for a ambient song and sometimes I get the feeling of listening to an old Mike Oldfield song, take that as some thing good.
Good to hear from you across the waters. Glad that you liked the Blues tune. I had a fun time putting it together. I've only made maybe a half a dozen Blues tunes.
I'll get over to your site and see what you have up and give a review back. Thanks!
Thanks allot, Aelmen. The original is a real beauty. Don't know how much justice I did to it, but if you like this, check out the original. Just do a search...It's all over the net.
