very cool stuff man, i dig your melodies.
are you working with trackers and have you ever been or are currently active in the demo scene? if not you should :D
nice work bro.
just saw this in your thread where you're looking for a singer and thought i'd check it out.
for what it's worth i think it sounds outstanding, it's full and rich yet light, powerful yet delicate, massive yet agile, it flows and pulls you along nicely to the pumping beat.
took me on a ride, nicely done.
and last but not least good luck and all the best in finding the right voice for this track!
not bad man, when i was 11 i probably used to say things like "techno is so stupid, all you do is setup a repetitive bass drum and then loop it for 5 minutes, i could probably, no wait, certainly(!) do that stuff in less than an hour. come on, it's pathetic!"
these kind of things seemed to be the standard mindest towards "modern" music of the average local kid where i used to live. everything that is made with computers is just trivial.
clueless and stuck up little nuisances we were. some probably still are :D
these string and guitar combos create enchanting moments.
wrapped in a well-balanced and coherent mix.
good thing you aimed for this organic type of feel. pulled it off nicely and it works well.
terrific tune Ed and Orlando - thanks for sharing guys
a very good result you ended up with here.
i love game/motion picture music with it's potentially huge influence to nudge thoughts and feelings into a certain direction and supporting those without making the listener aware, but instead doing so via subconsciousness.
that's what it's all about in this field and you accomplished it. this is right up my alley and a job well done, respect :)
Hi
I'm happy for your words, and I would say also that I am a fan of games, and some movies, and that environment I took some inspiration.
one of the message of the song is the feeling, I believe it is one of the most important items.
thanks for their support and review this song.
sorry the english
this reminds me of computer games in the 80s and 90s!
i think it's great and would fit very well in multiple different kind of scenarios.
mix-wise i guess it could use a little more low end.
maybe you could try to add a deep bass line at some point that sort of carries the rest of the piece along and adds some foundation. minor detail though, i really love the overall sentiment of this.
fantastic track - musically this is a new favourite from you, but then again i haven't listened to all of them yet and i presume there will be more.
i am still involuntarily inactive due to work related stuff that i have to deal with and not really making good progress. hopefully soon i can get some holidays and continue exploring more music.
anubian lights is incredibly intriguing stuff and to me there is definitley a influence of them in your creations.
with a touch of asian dub foundation maybe - i only thought of them because i had a heavy AFD phase around my teen years and studied their bass lines and grooves a lot - still a big fan, perfect music for when i need energy or motivation.
this tune here also has that effect. steadily moving forward with a funky touch. finding the sound choices to be very fitting and smoothly coherent. considering this is over 10 years old it's quite a feat. the final part with full blown layers going on is powerful stuff my friend.
also want to check out Ozric Tentacles ASAP after reading this tracks' description.
It could easily be my best ever track so don't get your hopes up too high that you'll enjoy another more.
"anubian lights is incredibly intriguing stuff and to me there is definitley a influence of them in your creations."
Not really much influence. Only found out about them a few years ago when someone reviewed this track and let me know about them. Awesome, unique and pretty unknown stuff (check out as many albums as you can) but just something exists separate from me.
Ozric Tentacles are a way bigger influence, from the age of about 17. Seen them a few times and the first (aged 17) was perhaps the highlight of my musical life. I had no understanding of how they were able to do what they did. it was like magic! Sadly, it's not anymore as I know a hell of a lot more now But they're still awesome.
So much incredible music to recommend but I'll just suggest this, slightly different track from them:
Yes, I used to love ADF too, especially Rafi's Revenge though they never did anything else as good as that.
"considering this is over 10 years old it's quite a feat"
More like about 13 now! I way surpassed my production abilities at the time when I made this but have since caught up, I feel.
"the final part with full blown layers"
Yes - I had to take it somewhere and make it much bigger though the drums don't get much bigger. If I made it now I'm sure I'd add some big acoustic kits. But I like it as it is so glad it stays on the same drums as the first half. Makes it all seem quite consistent.
Good to hear from you and hope you can make some musical progress. It comes and goes for me but I do it every day so it can't always be magic!
woah man, got goosebumps while listening. been a while since that happened!
it is always the unmistakable sign of my brain responding to a sudden surge of musical awesomeness.
coincidentally this is also one of my favourites and a track that is special to me.
your version is nothing short of spectacular. to me this is easily as good as the original and delivers the same emotional impact.
cheers for download -> instant add to appropriate playlists.
definitely full marks from me, utterly impressive performance. kudos to you my friend - that's the stuff!
some sweet ideas here that have potential. just needs a little more work.
i read you are not a singer, however it seems like you could easily become one.
you got a smooth vocal character and already sing in tune pretty neatly most of the time.
in case you plan to hone your singing skills more i recommend you check out some vocal training instruction videos on youtube. some excellent theories and techniques explained there.
mix-wise it feels like the voice is not prominent enough and you could increase the gain on the dry signal more (i.e. make it less drowned in the effects and other sounds).
what did you use to record and apply the effects?
did you insert the reverb effects directly into the dry signal or did you split the signal and mix the effect part in via sends?
1st thanx 4 listening, secondly, I applied the reverb to the dry signal. I did multiple versions, making sure I kept 1
with more of the original vocal. I picked up Nectar and messing around with my vocal, while testing some of it's presets. I will heed your advice about the voice training vidz. Thanx's for the positive and thoughtful feed back, it's what makes this site so damn cool....peace
not an easy task to create something heavenly by only using a singing voice and an acoustic. however you make it appear trivial, which speaks for itself.
listening to this makes me deeply emotional. short and sweet but i wouldn't mind at all if it was twice as long.
this is something to be proud of dear Brandy and Behnam. hats off to both of you - this is a remarkable tune!
many thnx for listening & shared idea .Savino i think U were one of my few friends who had heared this instrumental acoustic dueT of guitar before & I should say BrandY's vocal idea was so smarT for accompanimenTing of thaT .
particulary i didn't expect if a singer can do what BrandY did with thaT I really enjoyed this collaboration (some how like what U wonderfullY did about our collab christalyzed hopes) . me & BrandY both appreciate your time & kind words in feedback. take care .___B
Hi Doudei
Many thanks for stopping by and listening. Your comments are much appreciated and welcomed. Really pleased you liked the track.
Best wishes
Mark/Larry!
i like the sound of your voice and it would be an honour for me to create something together sometime. please feel free to get in touch with me anytime when you are in need of some background music for your vocals! all the best :)
great use of music as a tool to create a mood.
a story unfolded before my inner eye. as i am listening there is nothing more i could wish for in this moment. i enjoy when music takes me to imaginary places or constructs of the memory.
it's well put together and a feast for the auditory cortex as it stands. to me this sounds ready to be put in a film or game, excellent work.
funkalicious tune, groovy as hell and made me move to the beat in my chair.
and that clavinet track - to me that's a feat in itself!
vocals are excellent too and the whole mix is balanced and smooth.
thoroughly enjoying this, very well done.
peace and all the best!
woohoo, this is good stuff! didn't expect something that sophisticated.
wish i'd have known that much about producing when i was your age.
nice one man, you're already kicking ass - carry on! :)
hey my friend
sorry for the delay, i am still having computer troubles and just now manasged to listen to this tune.
powerful metal mix here, i like how you looped some of the parts and also made unexpected breaks. it was very effective. really like the lead guitar and some crazy drumming you got going on here! honourable piece my friend.
as for child labour, yes it is one of many evil things going on in this very moment. besides music we can also do other things, like buying local food and buying clothes and other products that are made by people who are working under good conditions. but often people don't want that because it's more expensive. but then they say "aww poor people from thrid world countries" but they don't really mean it. as long as the "rich" people are comfortable, most of them don't give a shit. it's how i perceive it anyway...
the world is extremely messed up and hopefully at some point there will be a revolution in how things work on this otherwise beautiful planet.
i am not saying communism is the solution, but it seems to me like there are too many idiots for an efficient democracy.
consumerism and "growing, growing, growing! more. more.. more..." isn't the solution either.
ah something else, i wasn't sure if i could download it after comment, but it seems not. if you don't mind please send it to me in an email so i can add it to my playlists, of course only if that would be ok with you.
hey Behnam
first of all i hope you had a good start so far in the new year. not that i think anything changes at the end of a year but it seems customary to wish people a happy new year that one cares about :)
i am sorry i haven't been around at all lately, unexpected stuff went down over the new year holidays and it's messy and busy times.
but to the important things, what went through my head listening to this:
first thing i noticed is the short delays and the sweeping pannning give the guitars a good variety in movement instead of standing static, easy but subtle and effective method, very nicely done.
the bass you did there at 2 mins is !!fabulous!!, just how i like it. the next part is reminding me about a music in a level from on a old game called "doom", it's awesome. this music has shaped my perception of harmonies and melodies to a great extent. your track reminds me of it very strongly - this is a good thing + compliment, because to me this was some of the best music i knew at that time.
its a very nice organic mix of sounds, the percussions and haunting noises in the background, while in the front you play sort of a bossa type progression. its delightful Behnam and i enjoyed it the whole time - a special track to me.
Savino my good friend as we talked in mail I'm gratefull of your attention & time & such a nice review & kind words. as usual your attention to minor details is wonderfull & the technical points U've hinted are so valuable & interesting for me . buddY Afro & native american flutes are some instruments which I've never seen neither & this was a hard trial for me & for someone whom I've ever loved ..knowing your possitive ideas is nice & I really appreciate your time your perception & kind words.Savino althoughT We talked in email but appology for my latency, here, too ..take care.___B
you're on to something here! very versatile arrangement so far, mix probably needs the most work at this stage. i really dig it, i can definitely hear some pink floyd- and porcupine tree-ish influences. which is right up my alley! :D
