WOW! Now that's some sinister groove man... It's like a killer walking into a small sleepy town on a dark stormy night, theres a flash of lighting and you catch his twisted grin and black eyes full of the pending horror awaiting the innocent.
Seriously a great track with great mix and production..

It's funny you mentioned that, because it was storming really outside when I got the idea for the beat, and I wanted it to be as grimy and horror-filled as possible. Apparently it worked lol, thanks man

on FunkyFun by Planetjazzbass
Hi Dave, It seems I haven't been over this way for ages to listen to some of you booty.
This track is super fun, I think I just heard a massive belch lol... Great production mate as always with the mix really crisp and clean. Your playing is awesome as ever, just loving those Buddy Guy type guitar licks from your trust Fender ( strat or tele ) ? I fancy a Telecaster, but Fiona is having non of it lol....

I will be uploading the first draft of Zoo hopefully on Friday. Alexander is just recovering from one hell of a bad lip infection due to an allergic reaction to cane reeds. This happened when he was 8 and he has played on plastic ever since, but his new teachers kept saying cane was a superior sound over plastic and forced him to try them again. Two days later his lip looked like Mick Jagger's after being punch by Joe Bugner lol.... Anti biotic's have their uses...

Cheers, Slap...

Man this is an old one,I was still using outboard guitar effects then..two guitars my G&L F100 twin humbuckers and a G&L Legacy singlecoils (which I had borrowed for a spell and nearly bought).....Cane reed allergy for Alexander!..Oh that must be a drag..there goes your embouchure..mate he'd better never go to Queensland Australia,it's infested with Cane Toads!lol..thanks for stopping by Steve..I'll have new tracks up soon...cheers Dave :)

I love the feel!! I always admire members who upload vocal songs and this one delivers such a cool vibe and arrangement. Some great playing on here also which is always a big bonus than the usual loop gluing... Wonderful!

Whenever I try. And here I had the invaluable help of Wayne to round off the track. I very much appreciate your words and you've heard one of my songs.

PD.: The Madness song that even today makes me hit shots into the ceiling every time I hear it is Embarrassment.

Fantastico!!!! Awesome from start to finish Bill. I hope all who listen realise the depth of your talent. Production is top drawer, playing is mind blowing and world class, arranging is a true lesson in how it should be done. This is not back slapping, ego stroking or bum kissing! This is how to write, arrange, produce and play a song. All who listen learn from this mastery...

I'm a big fan of Les Paul Gibson guitars ( got 2 of em ), so your thread hooked me in straight away lol... The track is good, it could be a part of a movie soundtrack in my head with it's sinister overtones.

Thanx Slap. Actually the newer stuff I've written is more simplistic. Think I'll try to keep them that way.

on P-Funk by Peres
Hi Peres, I was drawn to this one because of the title. At the moment I would say my main playing style is funk and this song delivers the groove for me BIG TIME. It reminds me of the album "As we speak" by David Sanborn (check the album out on Spotify). Great mix and production, needs a melody line to finish the job off! Once I get back on track in a few weeks time I will blow a lead line on it if you want. I will need the exact tempo and I will send you the loops!

on Doctor X by SweeneyMusic
Hi Stalju, I like the mood on this, kind of dark and sinister from the offset. I can really hear someone rapping on the top of this track, you have created a great platform for that if you wish to go in that direction. A good overall production and mix finishes off my review.

on Blow that horn Feat Slapjohnson by Paulkeus
Hi Paul, thanks for the offer to play on this track. The first thing that hits me on this is your production, wow! It is simply masterful, great depth of range and arrangement. They are a lot of users on this site who can (and hopefully will) learn from your examples of top production. A song must grab the ears of the listener and this is what has happened to all I have played the track too. Great job on all levels!

Howdy Oh great Woodwind God from across the pond...at the moment I'm in serious need of a double bass, playing a simulation Vst is fine as far as it goes,,but unfortunately it has severe limitations..thanks in part to you,my love of the jazz sounds that I grew up with are resurfacing and manifesting on my musical horizon.."if it ain't got that swing it don't mean a thing"..can't remember who said that but it's very true....thanks buddy..Dave :)

Hey mate!...thanks buddy...lol..well I do have a slight fixation with birds..though to get them to cooperate in a live band situation could be problematic,hehe...I guess another factor is I'm a total failure as a vocalist..I would dearly love to be able to sing(like yourself)..but alas what comes out is garbage....cheers Dave :)

Hi DJD, it seems like you have produced a nice track from the samples/loops from this site. Balance and mix are clean and tidy, with some meaty bass drum to fill that bottom end sound. You need some form of vocal or melody instrument to complete this one now.
Good Stuff....
