Sorry, I dunno what I'm on about. Must be this Zombie kick I've been on recently (shrugs). Though I could totally see this on a horror film soundtrack. Not for the scary parts, but for the mellow, 'before the ghouls' section. Kinda like in one of the Dusk to Dawn flicks. Like Tex-Mex with loads of GORE! Chiller!
Pat Metheny? This reminded me somewhat of parts of an album I have by him. Though this has more of a Rocky feel to it.
Speaking of which, did you hear about some Canadian hocky team fans messed with the Rocky statue in Philly by puting one of their jerseys on him to mess with the local team? Crazy man!
I'm really diggin on the flutes (I think that's what they are atleast). They just take the guitars n lift em up. Cool!
I think the video game thing is a reoccuring theme for us, because I think this would fit in perfectly on the game Bubble Bubble!? Speaking of which I think I'm gonna dust that one off n play it coz it's been ages. Interesting mix man!
Umm, don't ask me where dat came from. I'm gettin tired (already this early in the AM?).
This kinda sounds like an upbeat version of what you'd hear on those early mornin radio shows. The ones that feature the stuff typically skipped over during the day, but still mainstream. There's a show my folks listen to on NPR called, umm, Cool Water or something like that which plays stuff like this. Choice chunage gov!
For a sec I thought my PC was messin up (because it's kinda runnin slow with my uploading CDs back onto the hard drive), but I checked and it stopped @0:31.
I agree with what Phil said about it posessing an old-skool feel. Namely, with it having that lil vocal grunt near the end. Very late 80's!
So I guess what I'm left to say after checkin 'em all out is to make a request. Hook us up with some more songs. The longer the better, but that's up to you, my man. Keep up the bangin productions B!
Coz I don't recognize any of these loops from Magix. Anywho, I woulda downloaded this one if I could. Out of all the ones I've heard so far I'm diggin this one the most. As for the one note being off-key= Well, yes and no. If yer into precision then yes it is and it could've stood to be moved one or two keys to match better, but if yer into a more Jazzy mindframe where the sky's the limit with musical creation then it's fine as is.
I've got their '04 and '07 Deluxe packages. I think this is pretty tight for your second song. Looks like yer headin in the right direction man. Later on!
Man oh man, I could imagine candy kids everywhere goin nuts over this. Dude, SlapJ posted a thread talkin about this other site (Unknowradio.com) and I was thinkin they'd play the crust outta this on there. I might upload there later on this weekend.
For a techno track this is def dead on amigo. And I could see an album's worth of remixes (first one that came to mind was fusing this with breakbeat) or what not. Speaking of which, I haven't forgotten about the other. It'll happen, I promise. Later on man!
I haven't been to that area in a long while man. Useta date a chick that went to UNCC (aka phallic clock-tower capitol, haha) when I was stationed @Bragg.
This is pretty dope man (though I'm not a big fan of Reason). The background effect samples are 'Dutty' ('specially the sirens) and the drums are pretty sick. In a wierd way I'm reminded of Method man & Redman's track, "Fire in the Hole" (don't ask me why). Not necessarily beatwise, but flowishly (if someone were to spit on this). Def prech the upload (with D/L selected). Lates!
Like Hip-House? I no know, but what I do know is that 'Mongo only Pawn in game of life!' Haha, sorry. Another Blazing Saddles thing.
So this is like Michael Jackson meets George Michael and head over to pick up Rockwell (when he was in his 'Somebodies Watchin me' phase) and M.A.R.R.S. Odd grouping perhaps, but it does have some of their elements, maybe perhaps. D/L & fav'd!
Speaking of which did yall think it was funny how Gene Wilder's characters voice rose whenever he hit that joint in the movie Blazing Saddles?
Wait, what, it's over already. Dang it, lemme press play again, haha. Speaking about quickies have any of you been to the site ( xx-censored-xx ). Opps, needta keep it PG here.
So sorry, a thousand apolgies (bows). So it was brief, but sweet. It goes without saying that the vocal sample was pretty cracked out, but the rest is pretty Junglicious. And what does Tony the Tiger say? Lates!
On side one ya have- 'What happened?' I'm imagining that the Korg overloaded n got fried?
On side two ya have- 'Try it blindfolded and/or with earplugs!' It might just shock n amaze you then. The soft keys that is.
This track is a perfect stargazer piece. Kinda like the song from Close Encounters of the Third Kind (real UFO terminology, BTW), but without any alien spacecraft. Choice!
Sorry, but the MK part above reminded me of Mortal Kombat. Of which, the movies might've been so-so, but their soundtracks were fairly awesome (that reminds me, I needta get 'em back from my buddy Mike).
As for beats, I may could do somethin for ya. Also, check out my buddy 'TheHandThatRocksTheDecks' on here (link on my profile in the Influences section). He's awesome with producing trance and might be able to add even more to this. Will fav & D/L in a mo. Interesting mix mate!
At any rate, it makes sense now, coz I'm beginning to think if a storm front were to have an accompanying soundtrack/theme it'd sound much like this. The build up of pressure and wind carrying over distances in which it accumulates moisture on static build-up. Clouds going from soft White to a smokey Grey-Black. Rawk on!
Umm, originally was just wanting to go with the 'Proto' part, but like a political campaign it just kept growing and growing...
Anyways, first thoughts are disassociated with this track and are- That's one super sweet painting you've got for yer avatar!
As for the song, it's an interesting jump going from Green Day's Walking Contradiction to this. It's pure underground funky freshness. I'm def gon fav it and D/L if I can.
I'm really lovin this man. From the soft ambient keys to the Electro beats and finally capped by this superb Rap. Massive props to all involved on this. Five out of five stars mate!
Hey...thanks Donnie glad you like the work.....it's new ground for me with this rap groove, but I liked doing it so I'll dip my toe in again at some stage....now if I can only figure out what dub, crunk and cringe are....cheers planet
Dance around the sparking embers that rocket skywards from the bonfire. And with the fading traces of daylight the field beyond becomes alive with the sounds of the stirring creatures. Their noturnal clocks awaking causing them to move, buzz, bark, and chirp. While back at camp the shadows grow and shake in their endless Puppet Waltz!
I like the mix of this. As for the song it reminds me a bit of both the Afro Samurai sndtrk and DJ Krush.
Speaking of which yer vocalist's style is kinda like a track off of that album- Kill Switch, mixed a little with the lead MC of Skitzophonic. His delivery was almost Shakespearian towards the end. Where the song began to take on an almost poetry club tribal feel. Coolness!
Why coz it was tired of how the kick drum n hi hat were always hoggin all of the attention. I must say that I like that (the snare beat) the best on this. Followed next by the very odd leads (go plink-plink) and the super Trancey pads. I think I'll fav and D/L. Rawk on mang!
As if to sing or something, it would probably sound like this. Mixed in a bit with some Super Mario Bros 3 beats n effects. Don't look now, but I scored a Brown Leaf- Coon Toadstool on the attack!
For some odd reason I was just reminded of old skool Electro-Punk (like whatever song they danced to in the Breakfast Club). Sweet blend my friend!
As always I love your reviews Don...I read somewhere else that you're waiting me to get some new stuff up...don't worry, along with our little secret project I'm working on about 3/4 different tracks. Thank!
The opening music for the first Soul Blade on PS1. It kinda reminds me of the way it sounded during the narrative parts. I also see how it reminded you of Pirates. With me it's more like evil knights from some older RPG. Rawk on!
Showdown, in the back of a Rickshaw out in lil Chinatown. For a sec I thought my Acapella Finger Paintin Smiles would go coz of the Kung-fu title, but I dunno now.
Anyways, this is rawkin and I could totally see this playin in one of the Def Jam Vendetta installments (remember the Dragon house from part I). This one's super serial!
Shaolin showdown!? That's f'in great man!! Thanks for the idea.......I'm gonna rip some audio from old jap-slap (sorry if that offends any Japanese folks, it's what my boys and I always knew them as) films and lay them into the track. Thanks for the review. When I have more time I'm headin' over your way!
I recognize these beats. You got the same sample pack via email I take it? I made a track using their stuff too. Entitled Mint Ripple.
Anyways, I'm diggin the neo-jazzy vibe ya got goin on with this. I may very well download it. As for vocals I might could mess with this. Choice chune holmes!
Garage was like some offshot of alt-rock and punk. Hmm, well, it wouldn't be the first time I was mistaken about something.
I really love the synth because it reminds me of this particular song from the early 80's that's name escapes me at the moment. So thanks for the cool flashback there. (involving nighttime driving and Star Wars trading cards, back when they still had that stick of gum in 'em)
Ya made this while trying to kill time, eh? WOW! I have yet to have one of those moments when I'm jammin out. Atleast, whenever I'm not on a traditional instrument. God blimey, that's all I ever do on most of 'em coz I'm lightyears away from doin anything serious with 'em.
I think I may just download this one man. Cool stuff!
