Great to see you always mixing it up Wayne - this is well done, different and engaging : )

on Break the brain by el3tro888
This is great - I might mix it a little different but maybe not too (I mean at the start some of synths are very up in the mix) I especially love the part from about 130 on, that's really flying, and the overall the sound production and general glitchy-ness is terrific

on Tribal drum by el3tro888
Hey there - just returning your listen - this track builds nicely - I'd go somewhere different with that bass at the end though, maybe write a different line that might give a stronger platform to keep building and layering - Nice start though : )

on tricky business by bringerofDOOM
Woo Hoo Fa Fa funky - great start that really draws you in and then a brilliant musicianship and jazz funk masterfully mixed and with spot on production sound. The transitions and features from guitar and keys and sax are all superb : )
bringerofDOOM
bringerofDOOM replied 24th Sep 2021 - 4 years ago
Thanks. Jazz/funk is about the only place where I can find musicians that don't mind when I flex my music theory muscles. The song is called "tricky business" for several technical reasons, a kind of inside joke.

on No Money for Burger King by theHumps
Hey Wayne - what a lot of fun, great punk vibe, favourite phrase "They will make a real diamond
When they stick a lump of coal up your butt
You're such a fuckin' tightwad"
This is a different kind of jewel : )

I was wondering how that line would go over. It cracks me up, lol.

on I had a dream by OtherIdeasProduction
Love those guitar breaks - a couple sounded somewhere between adrian belew and nile rodgers and then theres a very nice bluesy lick

The rest of this (beat, vox etc.) is damn fine too!

Great work

Wow,Adrian Belew and Nile Rodgers? In a way i think you have a point there. I really wanted to make a song that is kinda weird, and i think it got it right, heheh.

And best of all,i got to play some guitar for a change too :D

Thanks for the comment,Pseudo!

on 12345 by SYLKE
Nice main and backing vox well cradled by warm (simulated?) guitar sound creating a rhythm which is then picked up/ built on by well chosen drums and percussion. Could easily handle some other instrumentation - horns? Synth? without killing the pop sensibility. Good work.

on melampus by xstokes
Love the glitch and the quirky vox and the various gorgeous very musical interludes and variety of instruments and sounds, amazingly it all holds together very well despite the disparate elements - masterful work

on Break pt II by kkrolak9
I was waiting for the 808's to come in! This is a good start a simple and repetitive synth pluck and some nice percussion with some suggestions of something more building or coming - then it stops. Keep going : )

on portals of light by xstokes
Nice work mate - I think we are on a similar learning curve - except you are ahead of me! - I hear many of the things I like and some of the same questions I have ...I mean questions around how to introduce a little more variety and structure but how in doing so not loose the edge or sense of novelty in the track
xstokes
xstokes replied 20th Sep 2021 - 4 years ago
ian, you are too kind to give these tracks a listen and comment, mate! this one especially is calling me back to it … whether to sharpen or blur remains to be seen! i would kill to get the space and definition of your sounds!

on mutatis mutandis by xstokes
Great track - wonderful sound with the hats and keys - I wasnt expecting the vox but it lightens up the tone well, suspect I would have gone dark

Just working my way through your catalogue - stealing some brief moments when I get a chance to listen : )

on Echoes From Private Spaces by Orlando51
Wow - masterful in every way - gorgeous stereo sound and every instrument is crystal clear (nothing lofi about this) and its a beautiful evocative track somewhat melancholic but equally lifting / triumphant. Not surprised it has so many plays, fav, downloads and comments. There is a world of amazing music and absorbing listening on LM and this a great example of that

on A Social Distance Instance by topvega
Love the guitar sound - a bit of a killer riff (or two) going down in an almost funky wave (I think its a phaser or flanger on it that gives it that edge huh). Great almost prog break toward the end too - just for a bit of variety - very well done : )
topvega
topvega replied 21st Feb 2022 - 3 years ago
Thanks, Brother. Yeah, it's kind of a phasing flanger that pans a bit. And yes the breakdown in the bridge was to give it some variety.

on Who Is Digging on My Grave by spearcarrier
Really lovely track - the duet reminds me of the nick cave and pj harvey henry lee track (though that's quite different). Great stuff.

on Revenge of the bloody rabbit by traz75
Great work with the loops Traz - you are such a master at this - to my ears the guitar break shortly before the 2 minute mark was the only part that could still use some tweaking - very near to perfect

traz75 replied 17th Sep 2021 - 4 years ago
Thank you!
Yeah, that part is a bit weak, but can't find a better solution. I never do perfect works. :)

Thanks heaps for your support Ian, it is much appreciated. I did a few tweaks to this last night and more happy with it now. I listened to both those Ed tracks u referenced by the way, and specially enjoyed this one. Cheers mate.

Beautiful - soft and dreamy pads and accompanying melodies and kind of sparse percussion with some delay with a restful beat. Really sweet track.

That wasnt what I was expecting from what Ive heard from you before but it's wonderful and I do recognise some of what I have already loved in your work. This is a little more alt. but still very rich, creative, engaging, and rich in rhythm and melody. Great stuff : )

The sound is great and I love the heavy instrumentation and the rap/ vox is terrific too. Is there more than one language in there? Cant make heads nor tails of it - luckily that doesnt impact on the enjoyment : )

Nice work - Im thinking of early david kitt (went on to work with tindersticks I think) and badly drawn boy. Nice indie rock / alt country feel ( I love the silver jews too ). Excellent.

Thank you in name of Danke's too!

I can't promise anything, because it works like as i made some lame thing which he likes for some reason, then he made it into something cool. :D
