I'm quite surprised by this tbh.. There's a lot going on in this one. Maybe a bit too much?
When making a track I tend to stick to only a couple of themes to create a sense of continuity and just make subtle changes as a I go along. Or if I am going to make a big change I build up to it so as not to catch the listener off guard. I read somewhere once that listener's like to KNOW what's coming next before it even happens.. a point I've always remembered :)
As a point to work on, I would say try focusing on transitions a bit more. Your sound choices are nice n all fit together but they're a bit sudden ;)
Anyways, hope you don't take this review the wrong way, everyone I review get's the same treatment lol.. I just prefer to tell people how I think they can improve rather than just saying "sounds good"
When the drop comes I couldnt really hear the kick (could just be these headnphones) and there are a couple of structural oddities... in particular the ending, it's a bit too sudden, I'm wondering if this is the whole track?
Ah man... now you've gone and made me sleepy it's so relaxing.. I still have an entire night shift to do lol.
Glad to hear some production work from you even if it's 5 years old. I've always been curious to see that side of you. I still think you should do more though ;)
Anyway hope you're doing well mate, we should catch up soon :)
Hey what's up man? How are things going over there?
Thanks for the comment and I hope the track didn't get you fired! Lol! I hardly have time to do anything music related nowadays but things should slow down.
Dude, your take on this pella is awesome! I actually prefer your version compared to mine in quite a few respects.. sexi smooooooth. The vocal coulda been mixed a bit better but that's my only criticism.
We should collab some day, I reckon we could make some magic together :)
Hey WongKi, Thanks again for your comment and input. Always appreciated. If you want to collab, that will be fine by me. I also reckon we can do some damage. Just let me know.
I left him an e-mail a while back after he got in touch with me the first time. I haven't heard anything back yet. I'm pretty sure he's busy which I can definitly understand. I did, however, pitch this song to a couple of podcast stations and it's now playing in rotation. I might keep that up for a while and then I'll work my way into pitching it for TV, movies and other media. Thanks for checking in, I hope things are well on your end.
This is soooooo much better than I remember it being. The vocals... They make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. The harmonies on your vocals are fantastic. The drum work is superb..
I'm impressed mate :) that's a compliment I don't dish out everyday. Well done!
If I ever come to S Africa I'll find you and give you a big hug! :D
Had to come and check out some more of your tracks, and this is another one that's really grabbed my attention..
Just who *is* Kelly Mueller? Is she on the loop at all? I'd love to check out her music profile, be it here or soundcloud or where ever..
This is another fantastic track, loving the chord stabs and the vocal. Particularly liked the string work in the background.. My only criticism is the outro seemed a bit lazy, but an element easily overlooked in the grand scheme of things..
Hey Wongki, thank you very much for your review and input. It means a lot coming from a person with much more music professional knowledge than me. Kelly Mueller is based out of London and she has her own website as well. She does not have a looperman account. We communicate mostly through Soundcloud. She is an amazing singer and I try to do her justice production wise. Thanks again.
Completely blown away by this. The drum work/percussion is outstanding and must have taken a lonnnng time to get just right. The track structure is fantastic,.. as are the vocals - some of the best I've heard on this site by a long way.
If you're looking to take this track further, I know a guy that might be able to hook you up.. And I'd also love to remix this track for you if you're interested, if not, no worries :)
Thanks again, Wongki, for your kind words. I did this record through the course of four days. I had one idea prior to what you hear now on how to approach the song. But then I ended up doing something with the use of a drumline, sort of what you would hear from a marching band. Every sound that you hear, was indeed done by me and the track structure as well. I had to think on how I could hear the record as though it was performed live on television. I would like to take this track further, so if you do know someone, I would greatly appreciate it. You can send me a message through here and it will come up on my e-mail. As far as remixing the record, you can find the acapella on her soundcloud page.
Listening through my headphones nice and loud, I can find no fault with this. Everything's where it's supposed to be.. good structure and melodies.. mix is nice and clean and I can hear everything clearly.
The only thing that would improve this is some vocals..
thx for your comment wongki :)
yes...its a game with the devil...i mean the comment thing on this site...i prefer to give honest reviews...but then i get reviews back like this... http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/126871
you know...im not kissing other peoples butt to expect a nice comment back...so the honest ones I get are appreciated...good or not good ;)
Yeah this is cool as well :) Really nice retro 80's feel, love that lead and the bass line is killer too..
This should be made into a house track imo.. has an Armand van helden kinda feel with the instrument choices. I agree with danbo on the kick.. could do with being a couple of dB lower.. Also woulda liked to have seen some filter automation going on, but that's just personal preference.
Overall, nice, well rounded track. Great job man :)
after listening to all your tracks last night WongKiShoo and thinking wow this man has what it takes, this comment is like winning the lotto thank you and i will experiment with the filtering too :)
thanks again
It's weird, I've seen you lurking around for a while now and never thought to stop by and check you out.. Thanks to your forum post - here I am :)
Impressive stuff.. There's only a handful of talented house/dance producers that I've come across on this site - you sir, are one of them. Maybe we can collab one day :)
This is actually pretty impressive considering how long you've been doing this! :)
Engaging melodies and things seem like they're in the right place from where I'm listening. Are you happy with your progress so far? I would be..
If you say you've compressed things twice.. you could be squashing the signal too much, hence the low volume. What does the dB meter say on the master channel on the mixer?? You should be aiming to get near 0dB without going into the red.. but then again, that's what we have brick wall limiters for!
Thanks! I'm content with how it's progressing, but I'm aware there's a long way to go until I'm even sounding semi pro. Stay tuned for moar updates, as I'm sure there will be quite a few.
You're right about the signal being squashed. I put a limiter on the master and kept things at around 50%.
It's not that often that you hear a piece of music that is actually artistic - so thanks for the nice surprise! :)
As the others have commented, this is definitely on the trippy side of things - great atmosphere throughout, love the vocal chant and the didgeridoo (such a versatile instrument! lol)
I'm off to do some peyote and fly with the tea cups! :D
I typically wouldn't go out of my way to listen to cinematic. I'm usually a fast paced house nut - but this has slowed me right down to a virtual snail pace.
I kinda get images of being under water seeing all these creatures go about their day in no particular hurry with a beautiful and serene back drop - which this track is :)
I believe everyone has already said everything,... the *only* thing I would have done differently is to transpose the piano one octave up to give a bit of a twinkle, and like Phyrius says, give it a bit of stereo widening..
I disagree with what he said about percussion though,.. not required in my opinion.
Let me start off by saying breakbeat definitely ain't my thing..
That being said however, It's a nice full production that you've come up with which has a good progression and structure. Some cool vocal effects going on and the build up's really cool. Sound choices all complement one another and no synths sound out of place to my ears :)
I would say though, that odd bass note panned to the left unbalances the mix a bit - maybe try adding something on the hard right to restore a bit of equilibrium? That's what I'd do anyways... but other than that, good job man!
Yeah, Breakbeats a funny old genre. I love the distinctive records kind of style but i'm not too keen on the fuel records kind of vibe, which seems to have been invented solely for rude boys to show how much bass the sub woofer in their boot kicks out.
There is an odd bass note panned to the side? I knew i shouldn't have done this on drugs!! Sh*t!! I'll have a look and see if i can find the offending sound.
But on the plus side, Since i know you don't like to hold back on constructive critisism i can content myself with one mistake.
Cheers for dropping in.

Very nice,.. great production from start to finish. I had to come n listen to see why so many people downloaded it and I think I just might do so myself.
The change ups keep me interested throughout, the beat's phat and has just the right balance of nice and nasty for my taste. Great job man :)
Really liked the lead stabby piano. The percussion is also awesome.. the vocal isn't over-used, which is good (although it does get a bit too loud on the semi-breakdown)
I reckon the track could use one or two extra layers to fill it out a bit more - maybe some arps or saws or something.. make it a bit more poignant mebbe..
As for the mixdown:
A bit on the muddy side.
The kick to me is barely audible - needs a bit more smack imo (no, not the brown stuff)
Things are also very sort of central in the mix, I reckon some more panning automation could be used to create a bit more atmosphere. Or some doubling.. I like doubling :)
But overall though, nice track! Thanks for the DL man!
I knew i could rely on you for some constructive critisism George. Now i've had a chance to play it back with some volume i hear it so i'll do a bit of eq and re-up it later on.
Note to self: Drink doubles, chase the dragon!
Cheers for stopping by.
(Oh and apologies for taking so long with that remix of your's. i just had to capitalise on the new girls acapellas. You know how it is? You've got to be quick round here or you miss the boat)
Anyway, it's next on my agenda so thanks again for your input.

It does exactly what it says on the tin - I've been listening to fast paced music all day and now I'm completely chillaxed. Your playing is fantastic. I also like the little stabs that come in about a 3rd of the way through the track. Drums/percussion = awesome.. love the strings. Great collab guys :)
Thanks so much WongKi!
SpellJammer had this uploaded as A track, then Bones added his percussion.
We have two versions...one without Bones but I love his additions so much I wanted to share this one myself.
All I added was the guitar lead and it was so easy because of these guys and the track they made.
They and everyone I have collabed with here on the site bring out the best in me and I hope it complements their songs, that's why I credit them for what I do...they inspire me!

Looking forward to hear what you thought.
I'm not satisfied at all with this track anymore, there is some serious issues with the sound quality overall and my EQ'ing skills really suck...
So I better stop whining about it and get back to work.
Going to check out your stuff later!

I can relate to the lyrics too..
