that kick is wonderfully true through the whole track...one shot?
for me I would cut that vocal..it worked in pieces but not as a whole and it retracted from the track... I would have replaced it with a synth line or bass arp.... or... well... something
some nice idea the whole track sounds like it was played in a bathroom...
the reverb on it must have a huge tail... if it isn't reverb then I am sorry but it doesn't sound loud enough those clicks and pops need to .... do just that..CLICK and POP.. the drum track has some good ideas soft and ambient almost like there isn't one at all but it need to ...well...click and pop..
I am sorry if you think it is harsh I just tell it like i see.. or should that be hear...
not too sure about the FX on your own vocal... it kinda made me concentrate more on that rather than what you said...
that said...some nice EQing on that vocal ...drum track still coming through and so is everything behind it thats hard to do... for me I would say maybe creating another instance of the vocal and EQing strictly for mids just to give that extra thickness....
over all the track is well work not sure about the slow downs but thats me picking holes..
the ideas are good hear and I can totally hear what your going for ....
the intro feels a tiny bit fragmented as does the track ...it feels like you've got some loops and laid them on top of an arp which you filter or something or what ....
like I say some nice ideas just too fragmented for me..
Thanks for the feed back I have yet to develop a track I truely feel happy with yetI try.I have close to 200 unfinished pieces of work and have yet to really complete a track Loops is definately a limited practice so I am trying my hand with a keyboard Thanks again for the word keep your ears open maybe I will have something that will move you from the Rockinchair
there is a nice use of the vocal... then that bass kicks in which I have to say I was thankful for as I couldn't handle that arp any more... the sub is nice... I would have liked to have hear more thickness on your dirty bass parts but like you said it is an old one so ...
I also wanted to try and fix the thickness of the dirty bass,I also get a bit annoyed of the arp lol, but when I mastered the sound in Adobe Sound-Booth,it did something to it so I couldnt go into the file and fix those parts. But thanks for the comment! :D
some very nice ideas... for the bassline needs to be a tad thicker... for me I like to feel the bass as well as hear it..
So I would have EQ an instance of the Bass purely as a sub ...using a filter I would cut everything above 65/70hz and then EQ a rise from 30hz to 60hz...
that is the only critique I have and to be honest thats just me being picky....
some really good idea... the track does how ever need so thickness...
this style of Hip Hop attracts me because of the whole theatre of it those Horns have got to have the same thickness as everything else they come across thin..
I'd do this by EQ the mids at about 400Hz at wide Q and making a couple of instances I would add some pan on one to widen the stereo field or add a stereo enhancer... a cut at 90Hz would stop them messing the kick one at 200hz and 2.0hz would stop it messing with the clap/snare finally a super thin cut at 10.0Hz would stop it messing with the hats...
creating more that one instance at varying volumes and effect will add to the Timber of the whole brass...
it is quite hard to explain but I think thats the basics if you have any questions PM me...
some nice ideas it just needs some post production work to make it a great track..
some good ideas.... the intro sets the track up well I would have added some more SFX even if you only have them barely audible it would add to the atmosphere ..
your vocals need thickening I would make two or three instances and EQ it so they came together as one and also so they don't mess with everything else?
do you use EQ's on every channel?
for me all of your Drum track needs thickening kicks need to be deeper and your snare need more snap you can get the kind of pro thickness through EQing and creating other instances of kicks and snares and hats... it can be A LONG process but it is worth it...
back to the vocal it needs a tiny bit of adjusting.... the timing is off in places..
the bass sound needs thickening too by creating a couple of instances and EQing it to remove the top end and using surgical EQing you can make space for the vocals and the drums... you can also add reverb and bounce it to a send track so you can control it...
having said all that the track is great and your have had loads of good ideas...
i do EQ all my channels and what you say all makes sence to me and you are right about that. for me this is a basic what need to be worked out more.
its all lots of work and i like to do more kinds of tracks.
but i will keep al this in mind and i think its great you take the time to say this.
i was really wondering about what i can do more one this on but there you go.
i go look if i can thicken all the stuff up its a good idea.
you can hear your hip hop influences in here for sure.... I would say that the track needed to go else where to remain interesting... maybe a vocal snippet or something in order to mix it up..
the drum sound needs thickening abit maybe layering one shots of both your kick and snare to get a fuller rounded sound.... you can also thicken those sounds with EQing and sidechaining your compression of the bass..
as for the bass I would also say you need to thicken it... you might want to try putting your bass into a combinator and using a spider you can split it off into three EQ's and get your thickness by one being sub, one mid one and one top end... it does work..
some nice ideas just need some work on the post production side
hi man thanks for the feedback i will deffo try for some thicker sounds in the near futur still kinda learning atm tho but yeh thanks for the info on what to do :) muchhhh appreciated!!
some really nice vibes here....for me it didn't have enough on the low end of things and I would have had more of the vocal in there...but other than that a solid track nice one
JohnMurray - Thanks a bunch yo! I'm very glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the compliment!
PhyruisBlack Jack - Yo yo, glad you like the vibes. You'd like to hear more low end, like a sub drone or a deep bass line? Well, sure thing, you've peaked my interest on how that would sound, and it might really add something to the track. I'm writing it down in my notes. :) Thanks for the input!
ok I am gonna be harsh here but I know you get me enough to understand were I'm coming from..
the stage is set nicely and you do deliver on many levels.. for me the bottom end needs to go up on your post effects EQ on your master channel nothing drastic just would like to feel those lows as well as hear them...
I have to say I kept waiting on that next element from about 2 minutes onwards ... a lofi kick and hats loop or something of that nature a textured rhythm almost..not a recognised drum but still recognisable as one...
the piano is beautiful for me you just need to add some stereo to it ... you can do that with some really really gentle panning brother and some slight reverb.. maybe even a delay to add to the length a bit..
where did you get that sfx? sounded like a tv on in another room being recorded... super good..
but having said that some very nice stuff I really enjoyed it...
Hey my friend, where have you been at? Thanks for stopping by and checking this track out.
I've always welcomed your technical input, advice and support because it's helped me so much, So, I gladly take your comments on board.
The sfx, is pretty much a hybrid of different sounds I recorded over a random audio snippet I purchased a while back, mashed through Audacity (man I love that software).
Really glad you enjoyed it my friend (off to see if you've added anything recently) Many thanks.
I can hear what you are trying to do here..I have to been honest and say for the most part I don't think you got the whole DnB vibe going on.. there are touches of electro ...
your two vibes seem to cross over in places.. what I would suggest is go and listen to DnB brother...
then when you go to make some set your BPM to 170 or higher some DnB is at around 180... then start with a loop adding to it ..seriously don't buy into this whole "no loop" rubbish.. any DnB artist that says they don't use loops is either a genius or a liar... take your loop and add to it layer up the kicks and snares EQ them... add compressors.. play around with the sounds.. cut and paste but always working around that loop...
then take a simple bass line EQ it and compress it.. then sidechain the compressor through one of the kick layer... adjust the attack to 0 and play with the release until the bass ducks behind the drums when the kick strikes... I have no idea how to do this in sonar so Google it..
I can hear those ideas it's just a pain when your not sure how to start...
some nice ideas right from the start here... from the off set I would say you gotta get more strength on those horns be it through EQing or layering they do sound thin...
your bass is kicking a long nicely but I think it is way too low in the mix ..if your having clashing problems try cutting the low end off the kicks and add a boost to them at around 90hz.. then boosting the low end at around 70 and 30hz...
although you got a smooth drum track you gotta try mixing it up added a little variation in there ..don't be afraid to experiment when it comes to drums some times a little fecking about can make beautiful sounds...
for the most part it did chill me out and I could picture the journey it just needs more work post production to make it shine brother
Well first off if your 13 years old, damn, you are talented, I'd love to hear what you'd be coming up after you've been at for 10 years like me...
for the most part this track is awesome and you have a pro sound already ... I would have liked to have heard a little more skill post production... a phat low end on that bass and maybe a little more strength on the kick...maybe some more inthe stereo field but this is really just me being picky...
what plugins are you using? are you using samples and one shots or have you totally created yourself? if you do a write up to your track then people wouldn't have to ask these questions brother...
Haha thank you, i made this track with magix music maker samples and my sounds. At the moment I am using plugins Sytrus, Wasp, 3x Osc etc.Anything I can find. :)
some nice ideas...I was surprised when I read your profile that your not a drummer because brother this is a drum fest...no doubt.. I am no expert on EQing metal so I'll leave that but a guy here you should be checking is alividlife...some of his drum work is just fecking amazing and he is a total metal head as well...
I would say that maybe you have been a little hasty in mixing down that far ... just because the track sound hollow in places the cymbal is totally not right it sits on the track rather that mixing with it...
I did like it but it does need some post production work doing to make a meatier more pro sound...
it really burns me when people download but don't comment... some nice ideas but for me you gotta stick an EQ on both you bass and your kick line... eq them both in reverse so the bottom end isn't such a mess....
also I would make another instance of your bass and using eqing and filtering make a sub... because you would have a more pro sound if you bass has more wieght not too much remember sub is felt not heard...
I would also take the kick and pan it out of the centre maybe two instances panned equally left and right might add removing the muddiness in the mix...
although this track does exactly what it says on the tin... it kinda doesn't...you've probably lost the song file by now but still I would go back.. for me you totally need to be add traffic to the top end of this... glitches, pops or just bots and extra rhythmic sounds just extend the stereo spectrum of it...
over all it's nice but for me the EQing needs work maybe duplicating that kick track and removing the low end bass frequencies to stop it being so muddy might help... this is something you can do even if you have lost the file it wouldn;t take alot..
some nice ideas a tiny bit too simple to be minimal but still ..
I've always been a big fan of piano work you've only got to hear my stuff to know that... so this is great... I have to question the use of the house drums... I would have gone more in the Trent reznor direction..
for me this track just needs some post production work doing... maybe a solid mixdown to start with..ya know...just to get the levels right because you drum track has very little power and I think I would have probably added an acoustic bassline ....
you might wanna use something like Izotope or T-racks just add the extra sparkle...
some nice stuff...some grand ideas... keep 'em coming
Yeah, I need to learn how to master my stuff. Right now, I'm only using Garageband, but I'm about to upgrade to either Logic or FL studio. Thanks for the feedback!
ha ha ha ...dubstep is a real pain to get right... the genre as a whole is become more about depth rather than that wobble...
I like the ideas you've got here but with all the depth you've got on your bass it takes away from everything else.. your drum track sound weak ...try some aggressive EQing removing the mixing signals.. I could explain it but it would take forever.. and would make me sound like a complete GEEK... so lets just say if your kick peaks at 100hz you need to make sure your bass doesn't so it clash...
anyway some nice ideas I like the high end sounds you've used though I couldn't place the instrument...
with some lengthy mixed downs and some TLC when it comes to the post production you'd have yourself a very useful track.
Thank you very much for the constructive criticism! It's very helpful when people give me info on how to do this stuff better. This is only my second try, I really want to get the dubstep sound down or at least a good grasp on it. I'm trying to figure out how to create the drops and getting the wobble to boom, but give the beat it's own also.
the drum track has loads of power.. not sure about your choice of genre I have to say...I would have gone for industrial...
as a stand alone track this has loads of potential to be great .. you've gotta go back to the mix down stage and try to solo out some of the elements..in places it does get a little muddy...
..I would try use surgical EQing dropping out on the bass where you have peaks on the drum track and vice versa .. it will give each element room to move within the track...
if your not sure if this will work for you try looking at what someone like alividlife does he is kinda going in your direction..
hhhhmmmm... as a remix I have to say I don't recognise the track but that may just be me I'm probably about 1 album behind every one else on slipknot...
keep 'em coming... and don't rise to the bait set by idiots...
yea man it was more of a sampling than a remix an sadly i cant go back and edit this, i made this quite some time ago n i had a hardrive failure last month, so i lost all the file for all my tune...suck'd
hhhhhhhhmmm... I recognise this track minus the vocal... I have to go with Sukuta on this one...so it is just the fact that you gotta work on the track in post production... work on your EQing and maybe add some reverb to that vocal to take the edge off... maybe record a backing track to underline what you have done already...
hhhhmmmm... I still recognise that track though..it's really bugging me...
Thanks for your critique, um not sure where you would have heard it because i made it and I did change the EQ level quite a bit on the melody to make it sound airy almost like the song had a weather-like touch to it, but that's my point of view. Thank you for your thoughts on this, I'll try editing the song and fixing it here and there.
