StÃÂphane - hello! A gift to hear you and Wayne work together again - the sounds are sublime, but i gotta step out on a limb here and say the lyrics would be better served with drum in the last verse/chorus - nothing splashy but something that anchors the point - the finality, the track starts with such lightness, but by the end things just ain't funny anymore. well, how's that for two cents, my friend - peace.
Hey Michael,
Thanks for your review.I think you got a point with the drums in the end.I listened to the track again and you're definitely right! The problem is that I'm not a beatmaker really so I thought maybe you'd like to add the drums?
Thanks a lot for the very relevant suggestion anyway
Cheers

Thank you Michael, glad I could help bring his song back around a bit.I'll be visiting you...50 tracks...WoW,Thats a long way from Mir to Raindrops,i better put the coffee on.
I really dig the playing on this track - made me think of Fela playing with No Exit - the vox track didn't really work for me on this, i was totally into the instrumental groove and it was distracting - so i could be missing the point. i'll be back to get my head around that
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I can't really sing, so I just read poetry intensely, I was trying to add another percussive element by doing so. Though I know what you mean by it being distracting.
this is some serious popul vuh (sp?) channeling! herzog is a great subject - one of the very few 'legends in their own minds' that deserve the attention - i don't often admire sheer ego, but i give it up to werner
Thanks, i did the song and then thought it reminded me of....yeah , they did the soundtrack to Aguirre, and yes Herzog is fig jam, but some of his early stuff left a mark, thanks again!
i love it when an artist puts up a set like you have with the RnB series - i get a whole album to listen to - so the fav applies to all. well i listened from top to bottom according to how they are posted so at the top RnBHipHop had me reaching in my stacks for Miles' 'You're Under Arrest' but as things got more piano-based down towards RnB1 i'm doing nothing but grooving to Jay. Thanks for the great set of tracks
pizzicato, gamelan, aco bass - i got all four feet in the LIKE camp - the drm sound is kinda trite tho and could use yr six fingers! always dig your sounds - peace.
Yeah, kinda forgot to go back and make the drums more interesting. Got caught up in all the rest of the song. I most likely should have taken more than the two days it took to make it and planed it out more. All in all though it's tolerable to listen to.
gonna be a lazy and comment on the 10jun2010 Bop tracks as a set - each def has a personality but the sensibility provides cohesion.
weirdly, gently challenging - articulate, intricate, and intractable - beautiful electronic music. many thanks.
Wow! Thankyou for first taking the time to listen and comment, and thankyou for such a nice comment, means alot! I set out to try and make those tracks how you described them and im glad atleast one person likes them, i'll hopefully be making some more very soon, so once again thankyou!
Dan
there's a very sweet fun-poking vibe you manage to carry thru-out this track - i didn't hear the earlier version, but after reading your page i think you got a lotta overtone and other rhythmic possibilities to play with here - looking forward to the next post (and checking yr other stuff, too)
Nice - you caught the "fun-poking" which I wasn't sure would get across. My trumpet playing daughter is 14, so finding the humor and fun for me is becoming increasingly challenging. I've come to accept the role of parents is to allow their teens to gnaw on our bones for practice. At least it is in my case - and she's soooo much better than I was at her age! The feedback and suggestions have been brilliant so far, so I have high confidence this one will evolve into something quite nice. Thanks for the listen and review.
really rewarding listening experience, and at 4.45 or 5.00 pretty ecstatic (in a quiet way). i was playing air bass at this point - have you toyed with dropping in a Wobble/Laswell type bassline? regardless, great music - thanks
Thanks Michael I had to go listen to see what you were referring to at 4.45...I searched for bass ideas but i had a toothache(thats my excuse anyway), but I was tryna funky up the reverb drums but gave up, I will revisit, ill let it be dloadable if you wanna add the air!!!
cheers and thanks again
pensive and pastoral - there's just a a lovely tension in the composition and the synth really works well with the acoustic sounds. i'm very happy to hear your music again, Daniel
StÃÂphane, your delivery is so deadpan it would take somebody way too involved with themselves to be offended by this off-kilter and sweet song. The guitar arrangement is perfect.
digging this rhythm trip - the vox treatments are awesome, esp the mumbly (v cool, like holding someone down and playing him with an ebow) - always a joy to hear conga on top!
really dig the arrangement and sound of this track! esp the last section with the toms rolling over HMNN's apocalyptic brass and the breakdown at the the end. gotta cop to listening to it quiet the first time - and it worked - but you are right, this rewards full volume!!
Thanks for the feedback Michael! All credits to rei and HMNN, their loops are a whole damn track on their own and it was a real pleasure to "play" with it.
really beautiful electric/electronic gtr backing - that is cool subtle effective work! the track has a strange sweet vibe - if bonnie prince billy could quit being so affected he might approach something as good as this - will be on the lookout...
much as i like the keyboard lines, man for me the bass + drums steal the show on this one - it'd be cool to hear you mix the melody a little underneath the rhythm and play some more variations on top - peace
