I think this is a very lovely piece. I especially love the prominence of the bass guitar, and how it helps to carry the melody. And I love the musicianship all around. It's all very pleasant. Do I think it could be kicked up another notch somehow, made a touch more exciting? Yes, I do. Although I don't know specifically how.
I hope this wasn't the same guy...
I love your little orphan snippets. Looking forward to a full track of yours someday, maybe. You've got immense talent.
Dirty rotten bastard! I mean the guy, not you. Too many a**holes in this world.
Great piece. I'd love to hear the whole thing. Did you play every instrument? If you say yes, I shall be forced to bow down before you and kiss the ground upon which you walk.
Head-bopping, toe-tapping all the way. I enjoyed this piece with its rhythmic intricacies and melodic delights. It does feel like it could handle some vocals, so I look forward to seeing what you're going to do there. Great job.
Super interesting little instrumental. (Little only in the sense of being short.) It drew me in and held my attention throughout - lots of layers and variation. Great job!
I can't see anything wrong with this. The vocals are da bomb, to begin with. Just fantastic. And then the music, really it's pretty darn near perfect as the setting for the vocals. Deeelightful stuff. I just loved it from beginning to end. Great work!
Love the beat. Love the start of your rap. Play it out, all the way, make it rock, make it great. You've got something here in baby form and I can't wait to see it grow up.
"Sad Epic Sounds" - love that title. And it's a precise description of the piece. Although, in the right context (or scene in a movie) it could be "Hopeful Epic Sounds". Anyway, I enjoyed it.
Great beat. It would be good to know bpm and key. I'd probably download it to try something but I have a difficult time figuring that stuff out using Audacity.
I too have a past of uneven mixing, and it's good to go back into the old folders and files and try stuff again with all the new learning. It can be revelatory. I enjoy this piece and its sneaky guitar melodies but it does seem quite loose and therefore, perhaps, not so memorable. There's nothing at all wrong with that - it can be a sort of jazzy journey and not conform to any rigid structure. But I do think there might be ways of shaping it so the melodies are showcased more. As a thought.
At the time i use to make my track with a Yamaha A3000 sampler and a keyboard sequencer with only 8 tracks. So it was a bit a prehistoric way of doin it. But it was also great fun.
I done some edition from the first version (and add the intro too) but i may still a bit to stuck with the old version to get a really brand new one if you know what i means. But i like his non "strutured track"
But surely another commercial suicide track ! Ahaha !!
This is very lovely. But I do think it's like a stock that needs another hour of cooking, to bring out the beauty of the vocals more. I think the vocals could come up a touch - just a touch - in volume relative to the music. (This is all totally subjective.) And I think there's room for some thicker vocals and harmonies here and there. As a thought. Sometimes I've written songs in 15 minutes but then spent 2 months revising them. I think you're onto something here and can revv up its savoriness even more.
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback and encouragement. Working on getting those vocals to pop a bit more for sure. All the comments have really helped me make this a better track already. Thank you again!
I really like this. I had listened to several instrumentals before this that didn't really hold my attention; it's hard to have enough variation with an instrumental to hold the listener, but you did it. I was interested throughout in the flow of great sounds. Fantastic work.
This is a really cool journey. A lot of music going on - a lot of cool sounds - a lot of different parts. I was really into it for the first part, and then a bit less into it for the second part, and then somewhat up and down. If you're not careful, this could spin off into half a dozen different songs. As I said, I was really into the first part and the use of what seemed like sudden inhales - that's really, really cool. Seems like you came back to that again at the end a little, but I'm thinking more could be done with that, just because it's so interesting and cool. Anyway... very, very interesting work.
That's a fair critique. I originally had a track heavily focused on the first section, but I didn't like the lack of development. So, I think it's fair to say I may have strayed too far from a focused track. I appreciate your feedback.
Seriously yummy. Got to a point where I was really hoping for a kick-ass guitar solo and then, to my delight, I got one. One thing I used to do when I worked with a fantastic blues guitarist named Sunny War a couple years ago was have her play two guitar solos together, sort of in conversation (just because I could, and it was always so interesting to see what she did). I think mid-way through the guitar solo it would be interesting to have a higher-pitched guitar come in and start wailing and shrieking, and continue after the other guitar drops off all the way to the end. As a thought. Regardless, this piece is fantastic. Great job!
Groovy groove. Interesting bass line, really dig that. And then the guitars - so much great guitar work going on. I love the rhythm funk but especially love the eerie high-flying lead, and wanted even more of that sweet sound. Great work all around.
This is really high-quality music. I especially love the low hard guitar chords, and the shrieky thing in the bridge (or what I took to be the bridge). I'm looking forward to hearing the vocals. As you work on other pieces, since you're a keyboardist, you might think about bringing back some of the '70s organ - I've been listening to a lot of early '70s stuff and there's funky organ everywhere. I miss it, and now, should you choose to accept this mission, you've been anointed to bring it back.
The music certainly fits the title, so I think you expressed what you were trying to. I think this is the start of something really good, but I'm not sure why the piano was so volume-low in the mix. I'd suggest featuring that more and seeing what happens. It might unleash some interesting dynamics.
Great beat but to me it's not an instrumental because there's no instrumentation except the beat. Which doesn't hold my interest for three minutes. I think it's a great start of something that needs some layers on top, some variation - a journey. I look forward to hear where you take this.
Great piece. I love the textures, the parts, the flow. It all works. There are times I wish the bass would hit harder in the mix - like, take the top of my head off. But maybe that's my headphones. I was impressed with the quality of the orchestration.

I try to keep all of my pieces on the shorter side so that I don't lose the audience's attention.
