Some very cool sounds in this, liked the percussion too. It feels to me as a hip hop beat but still has a bit of an ethnic groove going on too. Nice blend of instruments and a nice mix as well! Well done!
thanks Wayne. I wasn't sure at first which direction it was headed....it had that hip hop feel but I changed up the beat and viola! thanks for the fav!!!
This was cool Vicen, liked the psychodellic synth sound you used in this that seem to bubble it's way into my ears! Great guitars too, the lead is very cool. Certainly a fav! Thanks for sharing this gem!
Wow, lofthouse couldn't have said it any better, wow! Loved the harmonica, used perfectly here. Great selection of instruments and just the right amounts of them. This is sweet Gord, the vocal track is so fitting of the music!
Thanks kindly my friend. Chuck did such a great job on the vocals in this track and he played the harmonica which rounded the sound out. Take Care Wayne and Thanks.
Gord
Glad I came back to check this out again, really nice job with putting this together. The vocal track is excellent to begin with. Really liked the guitars in this, very well mixed too, great job Toby!
Not sure if you know this but this is a song by Mathew Sweet released in the 90's from a great album called Girlfriend and the song is called Girlfriend as well.
Nice cover, loved the original but DVickers shouldn't get the credits for the lyrics and song. Just want to make you aware of that and I mean no disrespect to your work.
Nice improvements, I like the echo on the guitar. I agree with John about adding some effects to the vocals like a little reverb, just to set it in the mix better. A itte reverb on the drums might sound good too. I'll admit that mixing is tough but you are getting there, sounds better, wel done!
Thanks! I'll try more effects on the vocals / drums. I'm definitely still getting a feel for how to mix correctly. Lots of trial and error. I'm not very comfortable with my voice, so I've got some work to do there.
Man, you keep out doing yourself, and I didn't think it was possible, ha! This is great, the bagpipes and the drums along with the incredible percussion and Nuada's vocals really make a statement. The intro was great and things only got better from there.
Had to listen to this a few times to let it all soak in. Trying to seperate sounds, lots going on but it's a great piece. Where did you get the bagpipe sounds? Ableton? This is big sounding, really fills a room, way to go guys!
Sometimes I think I probably workshop my stuff too much here, but then I get guys like Nuada and Salook giving me email feedback and I know better! Bagpipe samples were a gift, and I've got two identical tracks - one straight and the other running through modulators and a gate. The stuff that sounds like strings is samples of just a canter run through a gate, and then manipulated heavily with effects and volume knobs on my APC40. Man, I love that MIDI controller! Glad you like this one!
Loved the intro, awesome job on that! The vocal samples worked great. I thought you did a great job with the overall dynamics of the song, bringing up the pace and slowing it down. Mix sounded cool and the bass was too cool, growling, nice one NJ!
thanks for taking the time to review brother... DnB is something I do enjoy doing but some times it's nice to mix things up...ya know?...thanks once again
The piano was pretty cool and a bit suspenseful. I thought all the glitchy dubby sounds were very cool indeed. The mix sounds pretty tight, great job to the both of you!
Cool track M4L! I liked the beat and the effects. It didn't seem that dark, more of a James Bond theme feel going on. Would be cool for some music in a spy thriller movie.
Like the pan flute, sounds great. Interesting composition, has a celtic and renaissance feel to it. Cool choice of instruments in this, liked the acoustic guitar too. Well done!
So how do you like the new guitar? PRS, nice! Not a bad listen man, great job singing, nice story.
You might want to try to double the rhythm guitar track and pan them left and right, it will fill the space better and your vocals will sit in the mix better and the bass will stand out more too. Also try adding some stereo widening to the tracks, they will sound fatter and thicker if you open them up a bit.
Excellent advice. I'm going to try everything you've just mentioned. I'm new to this game, so any tips are greatly appreciated.
As for the guitar--honestly, I'm in love with it. I've always had cheap $150 guitars. Now that I have this one--which wasn't astronomical but is definitely of better quality--I can see a huge difference in tone and the way I can access the fret board.
This is a version of a psalm, wow this is quite an interpretation. Very original.
I was emailing a friend yesterday and we were discussing christian contemporary music. She mentioned that they even have screamo christian music, I was surprised to say the least. Then I was picturing in my head Jesus swinging his hair in a big circle in a mosh pit while his apostles jumped around trying to slam into him, haha. ok I'm twisted, but it was a funny thought.
Guess it's the message, not the means of delivery. I think King David would be in the pit up after hearing this one. Cool track ttv!
Cool version of this track, I always liked the Cure. Nice job with the bass, you mixed the sounds up real well. Nice job with the vocal tracks too, liked the effects and how you mixed them. Pretty good idea for a demo, the Cure dubbed out a bit!
Hey man, you did a nice job putting this together. The piano melody was sweet through this track and breaking up the drum beats seemed to work pretty good. Nice composition!
Another wicked sweet track man, some interesting chords in there. Liked the pace of this track and the drum sounds you chose, it is a different sounding drum track, interesting. You really put some cool synths together and made it fun to listen to!
This is pretty good, like the feel to it. It needs a change and some vocals, hope you find the time to finish it up. Mix sounds good. Great track to have with my morning coffee, getting me in the right mindset!
Hey Randy, nice to hear a new track, this is a rocker in the true meaning of the word! The mix is great, all the guitars stand out and the playing is very tight, what more could you ask for!
Hi ya Wayne,
Good to hear from you as well. I really missed not doing any music since last April. But work tired me out with over 1150 hrs. of overtime last year. I am working 12 hour shifts now as before they were 8 hour shifts. I won't be working much longer anyways. (But I did keep practice up)
I appreciate your comments very much along with all the other reviewers here.
I'll get over to your page, and also the others here and catch up on what new songs you all have put out.
Later....and thanks!
Randy
Mix is great Slap, the panning of the instruments really opens it all up, kudos for that. It's something that I'm working on to make my tracks sound better as well. The musicianship is top notch, we all have come to expect that from you guys so that is no surprise. I wish you the best of luck on the album, this is a good indication it will be a hit!
Hi Wayne, I'm pleased you like the mix as it's one of those things you could just keep fiddling with and loose the plot completely. I have 12 other songs in various stages of production, so new ones should becoming soon.
Thanks for dropping by.
