on Sad Little Love Song by yeti09
I love the ballad nature of it. Your voice is great. It has a 50's vibe alright and a good vibe it is. Thanks for sharing with us, look forward to many more similar to this. This is the kind of song I wish I could make but my voice is slurred and hard to understand. You garnered some heavy weight reviewers here.

Thanks vigwig, this one is a very early effort at song writing and one of my favourites that I've done, hope that doesn't sound to narcissistic lol

Glad you like the song :0)

on Drinking With You by yeti09
I second melodysongbird's comments. This is an engaging song that takes you to a corner at a dimly lit country dancehall with some old time strolling and belly-rubbin,' caution-to-the-wind in your plaid starched shirt and straight-legged jeans all looking like George Strait. yahoooooooooooo....vigwig

Yeah, this is too busy. Less is more. Sounds like some instruments are conflicting with others and your voice gets lost in the mix. i would like to hear a remix of this and listen to your vocals. Nice try. vigwig

this is a cool song and one I enjoy immensely. I played it pretty often when I was a dj at Mixposure. Really wretched. Hi to Marie.

This is truly tribal and very mysterious. The closest I have to tribal is Where Do All the Virgins Go: a steady brat with tribal drums overlaid. It isn't really tribal but maybe close. Anyway your track is tres cool and I give it many stars. vigwig

on Overmyth III - Conquering The Bathelyst by ValveDriver
I saw where Tumbleweed commented on this track and I figured if HE had good things to say about it, it would be worth a couple of swigs of ginger ale while I stayed put to listen to it. It was heavy alright, my desktop whined a bit. It was very busy yet you didn't have anything stepping on anything else (like what nags at me when I make a track). I would ever be able to sit still long enough to spend 389 hours on one tune. My threshold for being ready to wind down comes a lot sooner than a year/year and a half. I was intrigued by how much you seamlessly feathered these many instruments together like a genuine band. Sometimes I find some wicked loops that mes together like peanut butter & jelly and it makes me feel so good when people don't realize that I'm using loops and compliment me on my guitar playing! You have mastered the art of looping and knob-fiddling very well. Kudos, vic

ValveDriver replied 7th May 2018 - 7 years ago
Vigwig, how are you? Thanks for stopping by. Even if it was inspired by Tumbleweed.

Typically, I don't spend that much time on one track. But, like Neomorpheus said, I am a perfectionist. Getting my loops to mesh together took a lot of working and reworking. I would come up with a great riff, but then would have to rework it to get the flow right with the one before or after it. A lot of times it was just one note sounding off. Whether it was in the wrong place kn the scale, or too much or too little sustain. Palm mute or open. There were a lot of obstacles in thatvsense. Then, much like Staticnomad said, there was a lot of fiddling about with settings. I had a hell of a time getting my mix right. So, between being a perfectionist, and stubborn as hell, it took a long time, and I wasnt going to let it beat me. Kind of fitting really. Considering the meaning of this track.

Thanks again for the kind words, I hope all is well with you.

Take care.
V.

This was a chill listen and was a vision of sitting in a lawn chair on a secluded strip of white sand at sunset drinking a Corona from an ice cold long neck. Hey that base at 3:05 was penetrating and the kick and hi hat injection at 4:59 was a smooth move.
I don't know which of you is ferryterry but I presume one of you is. I have used several ferryterry loops and find them to be pristine and feel like they contributed immensely to the rescue of several of my tracks. Thanks for sharing them with us. vic

on This Would Happen by cyborgnyc
I like the way the drums don't stomp out the accent music. The vox seem to be the right vol. Lacks a certain something. Something that when you hear it makes you say, "That's clever, good vibe, I like that tune!"

I agree with Alien. This sounds great but I'm old. I think a deep voice would go good with this. I'd direct you to my idea but it is no longer posted. It's called Get Out on the Dance Floor and featues an acapella by Minor2Go. Vic

People call this sort of track busy. Busy sometimes can gloss over little inconsistencies. Acknowledging the "too much" point of view, I think it is a fine example of using many loops: Putting them together seamlessly. It is always fascinating to me to listen to a track where loops are incorporated together, presenting a feel of a real band playing. Cheers, vic

Thank you for the kind words, Vic!
I can absolutely agree with you - when you work with (mostly random) loops, there will be a lot of inconsistencies, imperfections. Mostly the most i can do against them is to fake them or enhance them ("it's not a bug it's a feature!")... Who can look over these anomalies, will enjoy my tunes (mostly). Who can't... Well, he will not. :)
This tune is one of my best i think, the only thing i sorry is the really different quality of the used loops.

Regards, traz

This is surely strange jazz, if it is jazz. It seemed s little subdued, like it needed something deeper. The drums were jazzy alright and were mixed well.

on Dont say goodbye by wemert
All your tracks are pop and I am fascinated by the little glimpses they provide in a few short minutes into the life of some lovers and their emotional turmoil, good or bad. What I wouldn't give to write the lyrics for, develop a backing track for and bring it to life. Alas, I have to "sing" almost all of them. One notable exception was "Redneck From Dime Box" where I wrote the lyrics and got music from one guy and vocals from another guy at
https://youtu.be/zGQb84IV__Y
and here's one I did music for, wrote the lyrics and "sang" (those are pix of my kids my little brother learning to walk and me and a 3-toed sloth

on The Son Of God by wemert
This is a beautiful song and would go well during a pensive moment in a movie for example the camera slowly zooming out on a lone figure in black seated under the tent at an interment as the rest of the funeral party makes it's way out thru headstones and trees. The credits in Lucida Calligraphy slowly fade in and out.

I was attracted to this tune because it said it was featuring Minor2Go. I was surprised at what loop of his you used. The composition is good juju and tune works well.

on Sax-A-Phone by Richardmas
Starting at about 1:00 I was expecting to hear saxophones but I couldn't hear any. But I did like what I heard I liked very much. Reminded me of the Lipps, Inc version of "Funkytown." Smooth and pulsating.

on 04 Waiting Thinking Calling ft Mhyst And Venuslove by Eighteen
I can't hear anything at 24 sec, but then I can barely hear a B-52 winding up to take off. I liked how the vocals flitted about, dissolving and containing something like a wah wah pedal. I like that. it builds quite nicely and the percussion is like sunshine breaking through the clouds. vig

on Cant keep a Good Man down by topvega
@TopVega
I liked the feel of this. The guitar is my favorite part it sounds like several instrumental groups of the 50's for example Lonnie Mack. I think it could stand a break or some tangential excursions, but a vocal may be just he tonic for it. Good job, vig

on halt mich - hold me by joecramer
I agree with all that has been said about this rack except what you said: Alas, I don't read German, haha. I love the lyrics and their incorporation into the mix. I like how German sound when it is played this way. However, I like old time Falco (yeah, I know it is Austrian). Your vocals are mysterious in German. It is an all around fine composition, my friend.

Boy howdy, you got excellent references from a lot of the stellar artists of Looperman. They made many comments on what they liked about the track leaving me with little to add. I was pleased with the build up and the impressive entrance of the percussion elements. It was easy listening with some wasabe. I would like to be able to create a track like this--well, dome. vig

Ignoring your title and pseudo-genre, this is a compelling party song for whatever country you're in. Pulsating beat, kinky lyrics and esoteric vocals: I like it. I put one here in ethnic because I couldn't find a latin genre so I am a genre come lately too. (play on words for you).

Got a lot of good folks already making positive comments. I too like this track even though it isn't something I would normally listen to. Sounds like an 80's tune called "Just Be Yourself" by Cameo that I really liked. vic
