Very good. As a rule I'm not a huge fan of spoken text over a track but I feel you really made it work, not as a gimmick but an integral part of the song. Well done.

on Modnex - Last Breath WIP by Modnex
First of all condoleances. I've unfortunately gone through this 4 times and it never stops hurting.
I think the song has promise; I also think there are some improvement points. The strong points are I think the drums, chord scheme and lyrics. Your voice works well (cool britpop style), but check to see that the tune you're singing fits the scale of the chords.
Definitely keep working on it, making music is cathartic and it can also help others (or even yourself) to write these things down. All the best to you and your family!

Thanks, BaoBou! I appreciate the condolences and am very saddened to hear you had to go through this too. Once is enough. I couldn't even imagine what it must have been like to go through this four times. Sorry for all those that you lost. Stay strong. I appreciate your honesty with the criticism. I'm always aiming to improve my vocals. With each track I do, I can hear the improvement, so all hope is not lost just yet lol. As for the scale; Were you referring to the key of the track? I feel the key wasn't off. The way I sang this was done purposefully. As that was the style I was going for at the time. I wanted it to sound upbeat yet dreary at the same time. Which could understandably make it sound off-key. I was going for a "foster the people - Pumped up kicks" type of vibe. Not sure I succeeded but that was the idea at the time. Thanks for stopping by.

Klinkt lekker! Strakke beat en een prima opbouw.
Wat is Splice voor iets? Ook zoiets als Looperman?

Hey! Bedankt voor je reactie!

Splice is een platform waar je samples en presets voor verschillende plugins ##### downloaden via een maandelijkse subscriptie. Heel veel producers maken daar veel gebruik van, waaronder ik :)

on If this is it EP FIRST LOOK by MichaelMayo
Many great ideas - I understand it's 10 seconds of each track? I like the one at 0:34 best, but they all sound interesting.
Not sure this is how you'll get the most out of Looperman, but good luck with the album!

on UNDERMORPHINE - Lost In Translation DEMO by thechockehold
Wow, you got access to some amazing gear and locations :D that would mean nothing if you wouldn't have the talent, the skill and the musicality, and you have that in spades.
Yours is one of those tracks where I like saying: it's not my style but I love hearing it because it's so well done. Kudos!

Very tasty track! Would be cool if someone can use it for a rap, or you could try to add one of the acapellas on this site?

on All Of You by alessandro5c
I think the song has potential, but (I hope you don't mind me being honest) it's not yet finished to my ears.

1) One thing I note is that the vocals are distorting. Not sure if that's compression or something else, but I think you can dial that back and have more of your real voice come out

2) You have your vocals and keyboard and no other instruments which is cool, not so many people dare do that, but then you need to put a lot of dynamic and the arc of the song in the keys and your voice.

Right now it sounds the same at the start as at the beginning, and I think you can make it richer, by for instance how loud you play/sing, by maybe adding a bit more rhythm i the chords, etc.

Think about it. I think you and your song deserve it. Good luck man!

A bit hardcore for my taste (I'm more into the Iron Maiden side of metal ;) ) but I totally recognise it's really well made. Kudos!

That's really fun! This is one of those genres (metal/house?) I was really eager to try out when I started combining guitars and Ableton, but I was never able to come up with anything interesting. You did, of course!
Cheers!

Thanks, mate, sorry for the late reply, I'm in the process of starting a new career. I believe that all genres have the ability to be merged and for something cool to come out of that,

on jesus has a mighty sword by Zootman
Very cool. At some points you flirt with total chaos but that's part of it I think and you manage to bring it all back to a great sound. Well worth a listen (or 2, or 3).

on Duck N Roll by MetalBear
I was a bit confused about Metal Dire Straits until I heard the reverb-y guitar :)
Nice! But I think no live guitars were harmed in the making of this song and this is with keyboards/VSTs? Or with actual guitar?
Very pleasant song to listen to!
MetalBear
MetalBear replied 14th Jun 2022 - 4 years ago
Haha yeah don't let the name "Metal Bear" fool you I do only metal. It's all real guitars! HOWEVER.. I am using the guitars thru a Focusrite 2i2 Audio interface Direct Input into a VST AMPs in FL Studio... and for this particular setup .. they were not ideal. If you listen careful on the longer solo part you can actually hear me start missing the timing on notes and by the end I started goofing up more. I kept it like that for the "human factor" as I don't like perfectly quantized and time aligned to a grid. Probably should have screwed up more to make it more obvious it's me xD. At the end i just hope the track is solid enough to be fun to listen to. Cheers!

on Same Old Thing by pseudoble
Very nice and relaxing. I like the guitars showing up in the mix without being too intrusive, just a nice single coil (?) sound, and then again with a bit more distortion.

Sweetness.
pseudoble
pseudoble replied 17th May 2022 - 4 years ago
Thanks for listening

I use a nice old yamaha (unpopular but top of the range pacifica) mostly (also have a few classical and a taylor steel string cutaway. Usually play in the second postion sometimes the first so its a humbucker and single coil combined mostly.
I used to play through a little gadget called zoom which was pretty good but six months ago got onto Neural DSP - go check the range out - Ive trialled all of the archetypes and more https://neuraldsp.com/plugins. The range of sounds that you can achieve is amazing and well spotted there are two different set ups / presets / configuration on the guitar in this track

Very nice. If that's by the sea then it's a nice calm sea, in the sun, some waves coming in, a ##### in one hand, and not a worry in the world. Right? :)

on Greece by JCastz
I happen to love Greece, so I never pass on that and wouldn't trash them either ;)
As far as the track is concerned, I think you have a good start; but to me it sounds a bit like you repeat the same idea a number of times without too many buildup or changes, and I think that would make it stronger. Good luck!!

on Not whistling dixie by pseudoble
I like it! It's very original; you took many sounds and noises, and somehow made that into music, and that's not an easy task.
One minor point you could consider (I'm hoping this would help) is that you could have maybe more of a focus or audible change, an evolution towards the end of the song or maybe even a sort of climax. I think it might make it even stronger, but it's already very interesting.
Well done buddy!
pseudoble
pseudoble replied 13th May 2022 - 4 years ago
Thanks - yeah I tend to not have any real structure to the songs and that is something I have to try and work on - still learning - I kind of get stuck is just getting the sounds happening without thinking so much of telling a story / developing a narrative or even having a beginning, middle or end. It's good to be reminded to think about that it does make tracks more interesting : )

on Personal Memoirs ft Mike White - guitarist by OMaille
Really beautiful. One thing that triggers me personally is that the guitar was ever so slightly out of tune (the high e-string I think). You may consider giving it a whiff of autotune, but be careful with the bended notes.
Very pretty, kudos to your guitar buddy too!
