BTW came back and there's nothing wrong with the low. I'll throw my earphones in the garbage and remember not to post too soon! :D Still a lovely and very interesting song. Great job Micky!

on Party demo by PCF
The first 20 seconds I think is really promising; the part after also isn't bad, but it's mostly gimmicks, in my mind. Try to make a strong track musically (like the first part), and then the effects can help to enhance it - but try to be more than just another Skrillex ;)

on Dukeadam - Technollusion by DUKEADAM
Dude! That's an excellent techno track! Hard as nails, booming bass, industrial sounds all over the place... and you kept my attention for the full 6:19 min! The long break in the middle is a bit of a risk but you pulled it off and kept my attention.
I'm a secret techno afficionado - quite different from my own style but good techno can be extremely pleasant and I totally like what you did here!

on Dubjoka when your with me by dubjoka
Hey man, that's a great vocal (set of vocals). I also like the background loop and the dubstep rhythm that you used.
They even work together, although that's certainly not obvious.
For me the transition around 0:54 is a bit sudden; the piano plus vocals in my mind had a slightly different rhythm to it than the dubstep - that's definitely not a bad thing, but it would help to a simple sould like me if you introduce elements of the beat a bit earlier, so the transition is smoother. Does that make any sense? EG the bit around 2:38 I would like to see a bit earlier, before 0:54, so my poor brain knows what to expect. It's such a smooth song otherwise, so I think that might help :)
Good job and good luck man!

Nice! All yours or you used any loops?
I feel you overpowered the mix a bit. That sort of comes with the genre, metal can have that, but I wouldn't mind a bit more clarity for the individual instruments. And I agree, try to write some lyrics and find a singer... even sing yourself :)
And Slava Ukrayini!

That's a great track man. I listened to the acapella, which is a good dancehall vocal, I like his voice, but you took it to the next level. Also great to see how much you've grown as a producer - tooka look at some older tracks and your sound now is so much more pro. Great stuff!

Thank you for your great feedback !!

...I take my time and when I'm done with a track I wait 2 weeks and then listen it again. I'll do that twice ....then you hear the mistakes much better ...and I work more on the detail .. I think that is key ;-)

on I Cry by skoejaggs
Not a huge metal fan, but enjoyed this. Good drumming, solid guitars and also appreciated the lyrics.
I think that with some mastering you can get even more out of the sound. That may also be a style choice, of course.
All in all well done, I always enjoy hearing distorted guitars here :)

on Just When You Think by Micky
Has a very nice Fleetwood Mac vibe to it! I like it a lot, but (listening on cheap headphones so that might be to blame) most of the soundscape seems to be in the mid and high, and less so in the lower region? I'll give it another go with better sound later.
Lovely song though and I always love seeing collabs, so both of you well done guys!

Micky replied 17th Jul 2022 - 3 years ago
Hey BB, nice to hear from you. Sure, Fleetwood Mac, but please only in the chorus part. I took the low end into account... it must be the headphones. Thank you for listening and commenting.
Cheers,
Micky

And enjoy I did. It's straightforward but at the same time you included a lot of fun details that keep me hooked throughout the song. Great job!

on Word by Jkingz ft RyanCali by Jkingz
Awesome job. Love what you did with the acapella; compared to the original it has so much more energy now, excellent.
One thing you could consider is around 1:40 to have say a 2 bar "tag", to give the audience a couple seconds to catch up. Not 100% sure of that though, because now it's relentless and that actually also works.
Top notch. Keep rocking! (Or in your case, DnBing ;)

Thanks, man. This is the one that really kicked off my usage of dubstep elements in my tracks...without it being dubstep.

I'm glad you dig it. Thanks again.

Take care.

on all those years by phantomproduction
Oh, maybe one tiny thing. I note that from around 2:40-3:00 the vocal is slightly trailing behind the drums (the snare), and it might pay off to align that a bit more? Or was that intentional?
phantomproduction
phantomproduction replied 14th Jul 2022 - 4 years ago
Hi Baobou! you may be right about the alignment of the voice on the chorus, I stole the song from you tube (without having the real tempo) and I extracted the voice with accapella extractor, I got a little pissed off on this piece but I found the voice interesting, anyway, you know I don't spend a lot of time on the pieces, I try to find the right balance between the tone of voice and the style of music (sometimes It's not very successful lol!)

Ready to go mainstream, this is as usual a monster track. Man, I wish I could spend a day producing and learning with you :D Absolutely delicious drums too. I note how the snare really pops out - let me see if I can emulate that a bit :) Do you use a gate on the snare mic?
phantomproduction
phantomproduction replied 14th Jul 2022 - 4 years ago
Hi guy! to answer your question, I compress the drums very little, since when you go from wave to mp3 you lose dynamics, I don't know if that answers your question but I work like that! thank you for listening and commenting!

Very cool interpretation. Also especially love and appreciate the drum fill from around 1:39, tight as a... well, as a drum :)

Hello BaoBou,

When I learned that little Bass line back in 1972 I thought I was God LOL. I must have played it 1000's of times on everything from a Acoustic Piano to a Micro Moog (which had just came out) I used it to decide which Keyboard instrument I would buy (Farfisa Professional Gino Vanelli had just released
"Ma Ma Co Co" he played Farfisa)sorry about the rant I may or may not have had too much Coffee. LOL.

Thanks for your listen and comments on this track.

PEACE...

OK, now I also get "Take a Chance" better. I do think if you merge the 2 tracks, maybe cut part of it but not much, then you have an absolutely epic track. Hats off man!

on Resonance by EmmaniFreeze
Very nice! I can't hear the flute but I do think there was something like a gamelan or some Asian bells?
EmmaniFreeze
EmmaniFreeze replied 23rd Jun 2022 - 4 years ago
Thanks,

the very breathy wind instrument that repeats was where I got the idea of the flute. The Asian instrument I think you were referring to was the koto; it had a bit of fx, so it sounds different.

on Somebody With Joshua Wong by alessandro5c
My first thought was: what, like Hong Kong Joshua Wong, the jailed dissident and personal hero of mine? :D
I like the song, but to be honest, to me the autotune is distracting now. Can you make it less harsh? I would prefer a bit more natural voice, even if maybe not all of it is 100% in tune - that would also allow you to get the emotions more into the song. I would also consider to allow more dynamics in the vocals so you have more of a build-up.
All in all again a great effort man. Good work!

on Yjuna - Bright Day - Initium Edit by InitiumMusic
That's a really interesting and impressive track! the intro is maybe a touch long and you risk losing people there with our tiny attention spans these days, but those people would be wrong, and it's worth staying around and experiencing the whole track :)
One tiny thing: the snare sound you use feels a bit "dry" while it's such an important sound in the track. I think you could add maybe some massive reverb, or see if you have another sample for it?
Good luck man. Great work.
InitiumMusic
InitiumMusic replied 19th Jun 2022 - 4 years ago
Definitely agree with you there. Still working on it. But I agree with the snares. I've just been kind of waiting on my ear surgery first lol, so I'm just going by graphs right now, since I can't trust my ears.
