on Duck N Roll by MetalBear
I was a bit confused about Metal Dire Straits until I heard the reverb-y guitar :)
Nice! But I think no live guitars were harmed in the making of this song and this is with keyboards/VSTs? Or with actual guitar?
Very pleasant song to listen to!
MetalBear
MetalBear replied 14th Jun 2022 - 3 years ago
Haha yeah don't let the name "Metal Bear" fool you I do only metal. It's all real guitars! HOWEVER.. I am using the guitars thru a Focusrite 2i2 Audio interface Direct Input into a VST AMPs in FL Studio... and for this particular setup .. they were not ideal. If you listen careful on the longer solo part you can actually hear me start missing the timing on notes and by the end I started goofing up more. I kept it like that for the "human factor" as I don't like perfectly quantized and time aligned to a grid. Probably should have screwed up more to make it more obvious it's me xD. At the end i just hope the track is solid enough to be fun to listen to. Cheers!

on Same Old Thing by pseudoble
Very nice and relaxing. I like the guitars showing up in the mix without being too intrusive, just a nice single coil (?) sound, and then again with a bit more distortion.

Sweetness.

Thanks for listening

I use a nice old yamaha (unpopular but top of the range pacifica) mostly (also have a few classical and a taylor steel string cutaway. Usually play in the second postion sometimes the first so its a humbucker and single coil combined mostly.
I used to play through a little gadget called zoom which was pretty good but six months ago got onto Neural DSP - go check the range out - Ive trialled all of the archetypes and more https://neuraldsp.com/plugins. The range of sounds that you can achieve is amazing and well spotted there are two different set ups / presets / configuration on the guitar in this track

on Zozik-By the sea by AleksandrioZozik
Very nice. If that's by the sea then it's a nice calm sea, in the sun, some waves coming in, a cocktail in one hand, and not a worry in the world. Right? :)

on Kaaman vs Overdrive Olympic rage by Kaaman
That's a really good trance track! A tad long for me, but really thumping and I can't help but bop my head and wiggle my toes!

BaoBou, thank you for your kind words! Colleague. )) The track was also called "London 2012 Olympic Fury" in honor of the London Olympics.))

on Greece by JCastz
I happen to love Greece, so I never pass on that and wouldn't trash them either ;)
As far as the track is concerned, I think you have a good start; but to me it sounds a bit like you repeat the same idea a number of times without too many buildup or changes, and I think that would make it stronger. Good luck!!

JCastz replied 14th May 2022 - 3 years ago
You are very right, I also noticed that I am being very repetitive. I appreciate your comment, it helps me a lot

on Melody in my head by MLM6
I think that's a really good start, but it stops right at the point where I would expect the main part of the song to start :)

on Not whistling dixie by pseudoble
I like it! It's very original; you took many sounds and noises, and somehow made that into music, and that's not an easy task.
One minor point you could consider (I'm hoping this would help) is that you could have maybe more of a focus or audible change, an evolution towards the end of the song or maybe even a sort of climax. I think it might make it even stronger, but it's already very interesting.
Well done buddy!
pseudoble
pseudoble replied 13th May 2022 - 3 years ago
Thanks - yeah I tend to not have any real structure to the songs and that is something I have to try and work on - still learning - I kind of get stuck is just getting the sounds happening without thinking so much of telling a story / developing a narrative or even having a beginning, middle or end. It's good to be reminded to think about that it does make tracks more interesting : )

on Personal Memoirs ft Mike White - guitarist by OMaille
Really beautiful. One thing that triggers me personally is that the guitar was ever so slightly out of tune (the high e-string I think). You may consider giving it a whiff of autotune, but be careful with the bended notes.
Very pretty, kudos to your guitar buddy too!

on lo que hicieron de mi by Ashesndreams
Hola! Good to "hear" from you again. Congrats on your courage - and also congrats to your mom for accepting you as you are :)
I like the track. I remember working with your "Sonido de las Olas" and I wouldn't mind doing something again with your acapella, so I'm storing that one in my mind for later use if you don't mind :)
Adios amiga!

on And it could be different by vkislitsin
Hell yeah. That's an instant fav. Good guitar playing, great sound. Love the use of the delay from 1:20.

The bit around 0:20-0:25 didn't quite fit in my brain, but it's a minor blip and hoy crapballs there is much to enjoy this track. You do something similar around 2:40; there it makes more sense to my tiny brain and I get what you're doing - so maybe the first bit is just a great way to introduce that.

You clearly channeled your inner Mark Knopfler there and I want to hear more! Love it.

vkislitsin replied 16th Oct 2022 - 3 years ago
Hey, thanks for your comment! Actually, 00:20-00:25 could be some kind of introducing furhter steps or just as you wrote - kinda blip or crapballs ;) Song was made quite a time ago. Find me on bandlab.com/veekaymusic - I post songs there quite regularly.

on My Rise Metal Demo Track by Vintyara
I like it (within my limits for metal, that is ;)

The thing you may want to work on is the lead guitar. I think a) it needs to pop more in the mix (so increase the volume relative to the other trakcs or - heresy for metal - dial the others back a bit ;) ) but also I don't really like the sound.
I'm going to assume it's a VST, because it sounds quite keyboardy (good playing skillz btw), so if that's the case, maybe you can find a better sample for it. If it's live recorded and that's just what your pedals give you, then sorry ;)

The switch to the piano half way is a very nice surprise and works really well!

yes. I use only VST instruments.
In the future i record with live instruments

Really nice man. This could absolutely be the intro to a nice jazzy song with some great husky female vocals (or even a Tom Waits voice). Maybe you can get AngelusYeux to sing to it :)

That's absolutely stunning. Hats off to Mark, but also especially to your keys, and maybe for the bass playing? that shows up really well too! Good track man!

Hello BaoBou,

Mark started me out on my musical journey(back in the day).
The composition, Synth (playing) and arrangement are all me,
altho I don't coubt that Mark optimized some of the timings during his Mastering of the track.

Thanks for giving the track a listen and encouraging comments.
It's good to see you back on LM. You were here jammin when I first joined this great music community.

PEACE...

on AB RAIHAN-Be Happy by abraihan
I like it. I especially like the piano bit at the beginning, but I also like the part after say 1:10.
Only comment I would have is that the build-up seems long compared to the "pay-off", so maybe you can shorten the first part a bit and make the main part longer?

abraihan replied 13th May 2022 - 3 years ago
Thanks for your oponion. I wanted to try difference rhythm ..hh..you said piano part longer or the saw part

on Clashing Egos by scepticist
I'm conflicted. On the one hand I really really like this, many happy sounds, many things to discover, interesting melodies, etc, but on the other hand I find not everything works together (eg not the same scale or mode) and it is rather ambitious.
Still, I like ambition, so keep making this kind of stuff. Thanks man!

Thanks for listening and your review! Perhaps I could've worked longer on this one, but at some moment I've heard my tunes enough.. :-)

on Kids Alright by JohnSmokey
Hey Johnnie, haha, that's also not how I meant it, I'm just this silly amateur. But I've collaborated with people in the past (usually on guitar), I noted you used a drumcomputer for this one, which is absolutely fine.. but I thought maybe if you want a non-computer drum loop, them I can create something for you or with you, or any such variation :)
Of course if you want to pay me for studio work.. but nah, I prefer doing free bits for people whose music I enjoy :)

Just going through my old songs, looking for one to delete so I can upload a new one. This is a nice comment, just thought I'd note that. Id prefer if it was all live instruments, but that's too much to ask for these days.
