That's really nice! it has quite a few of the things I like to rail against as a grumpy old man, like overprocessed vocals and electronic drums with clicky hats, but you know what? both work really well here, and I really enjoyed it. Good job.
Very nice intro with the guitar. Some great chords there.
However, I think the whole track is mostly that one loop? That's great, but next track see if you can take it further and add in some variation or counterpoint or verse/chorus structure. Good luck, music is fun!
Nice! Any new songs coming out soon? :) There must be some melodies in your mind and you must have grown the past 3 years, right? :)
Looking forward to more!
Of course, college has been kicking my ass and not gonna lie, I've been slowly putting down the DAW due to schoolwork, normal work, and various other stuff :(
Thanks BaoBou! yes it is a sped up female vocal. I'm really looking forward to spending some time in the studio with proper equipment, it is a lot of tedious work but its going to cool to have some songs that aren't made in my basement lol. thanks for the good luck
"According to Norinaga, to "know" mono no aware is to have a shrewd understanding and consideration of reality and the assortment of occurrences present; to be affected by and appreciate the beauty of cherry blossoms was an example of this knowledge provided by Norinaga."
I'll be very honest - I spent the past 5 minutes trying to understand the concept but I don't think that's enough ;)
I love your track though and I could totally see it in an anime!
Good track. Looking at the wave function you can probably get a bit more out of it by compressing the bass (I think that's the loudest now).
The female vocal is excellent btw!
My favourite bit is around 0:35 with a great beat; after 1:05 or so the compression and distortion is a bit much for me though. The bit around 1:50 is very good (and a relief ;) )
Interesting track!
hey BB, yeah i was a little frustrated with this, your listen prompted me to keep working on this, so i really am happy for your feedback, bro. i think the current version now is pretty sick thanks to you!
I'm listening to this one again, and it's great! So 2 options:
- I was full of shit in January (certainly not impossible)
- or may e you made some updates? :D
Verder ook Liefs uit Londen :) Ik zag Hattem/Nederlandse Antillen - wat is het? Ik hoop dat je net als ik een band hebt met CuraƧao? :)
I like it, but it feels like you compressed it too much to the point of distortion. Now I don't have the best headphones, but can you check your mastering?
The song is really cool btw, I just get distracted by the sound and I think you can open it more.
Haha I didn't know the original and didn't know that was an actual title.
I think your version is better than what she did with it!
I was looking forward to hearing you sing in French though ;)
I was thinking about singing the French parts but decided to do the version where she sings the na, na, na's. I took 7 years of French in high school and college so I have some practice with the French accent, oui.
Gave it another listen and you know what... either I was overly critical in April or maybe you made some minor changes but I love it, and I don't really recognise the little niggles I had back then. The vocal is still incredible, but I actually really like your slow intro now and the build-up feels great.
I hope you'll tell me you made some minor changes, but I know I'm full of shit and I fully expect I listened to exactly the same track except now I give it a 10/10 :D
Hey Bao, hate to say it, but its the same track :) maybe its just grown on you lol. Thankyou for taking the time to leave TWO comments though, much appreciated and im glad you like it
Much appreciated! I have a lot more coming. He is 64, been playing since he was 16. A real master guitar player, we have come up with some really fun and different songs together. The vocals, we aimed for a California Dreaming vibe. Guitars all mic'd up amps or acoustic.
Exactly :) A large part of the joy for me is in playing everything myself.
I started creating songs from drum samples or using acapellas, and nothing wrong with that... but it's just fun to roll your own. So I always appreciate those who play live. Kudos!!
Yea BB I agree with you on the second comment. I don't have a problem with sample writers, I have studied music, I sight read as well as being trained in theory, yet all that has nothing to do with being able to compose a song and know what the drums should do or what the keys should do. It takes time and practice to achieve some form of success when coming up with original material, and I, like you, would rather do everything myself because I can. PEACE. T576 OUT.

Good luck with the album/tape, I know how much work and frustration it is and also how much energy it can give you when finally finished!
