Strong track. I like what you did around 1:40; not a fan of the extreme fadeout/ins in the middle and the end. It was an interesting listen though, I could see this in a video game!
Dude, that is ffing amazing, and I'm not even a Reggae fan. Fav'ed!! I would totally play that on a loop, great track!
I'm transported straight back to Jamaica (even if they don't play that much reggae anymore these days ;) )
Thanks BB - been making one just about every week but largely just learning through experimenting - posted the lasted and will post a few of the build up.
Your vocal fits really well with the instrumental part but the booming kick is out of sync and doesn't feel like it belongs there. See if you can fix that!
100% Smokey John! And you used a great beat!
See if you can either use a bit more tone in your vocal, or else, do it more as a rap. I think that will add a bit of dynamic to it.
Good luck man, every track you make is better than the previous!
I do the harmony, and then I sort of deliver the verses in a slam poetry fashion. I like the vibe how it is, I think it adds a level of intimacy to the vibe. If I ever tour, I'd be reading the lyrics off my phone sitting on a stool or something. Call it
It doesn't suck, but yes, like the others said, work on the balance of the vocals. They're too "hot" and distort now, and they stick out too much in the mix. You can probably reduce it a good 12 dB and still have it be the main element.
Good luck!
That's great!! All played yourself, keys, drums vocals? Shake hand brother :)
Your voice is also great (I mean especially great); you just need to stand a bit closer to the mic, or possibly make it a bit louder in the mix.
Great stuff!
Very kind man, thanks for listening and encouraging words.
I’m so impressed by your repitoire, great work and you span genres so well. Keep up the good work.
Cheers from Australia.
It's a cool rap! But I don't think you need that much processing on your vocal. I know the feeling of wanting to hide your own voice, but no need. I think it will sound better with less distortion!
Nice track! Most of it works well together but one of the arpeggios you can hear at the same time as the vocal doesn't really seem to fit? See if you agree!
Thanks for the comment, really appreciate it! Yes i agree :D Maybe gonna compress it an put it more in a background or delete it completely. Thanks for u help
I really loved that. Some excellent sounds, and a great flow to it. Not a fan of the electronic hihats (I'm an old man); if you can find a better drum sound then I think this would be even better, but otherwise an excellent track!
Thanks a lot for incorporating my noodling! I love that by shifting the whole thing one beat it became even more funky.
The whole thing is a masterpiece as usual. The horns here are off the chart btw.
Love it and thanks for letting me be a part of it!
BaoBou!!!!! Really? HAHA, gimme a truckload of those "NOODLES" anytime my friend! Your contribution here set this one just right. You caught that beat shift move, huh? Yep, on the beat or off the beat I don't care, just as long as it's funkier! I did the same with the bass too, BTW. Peace.
The dissonants I mentioned are most noticeable around say 1:58-2:02. Your bass, mid and high melodies all go in a different direction, which is great in itself, but they don't play well together here. But I'll say again, it could have been something you intended, that's why I was a bit careful :)
In any case, I was mostly hoping you could build on it because the tempo and energy in that same section is excellent and I wouldn't have minded if the track would have lasted a couple minutes longer :)
