Is there anything in particular about the mix that you noticed could be changed? I definitely need to add more variety to the drop. Thank you for the feedback.
and a little more on the concept that i was talking about with a soft clipper, sidechain works wonders too :)
often times, distortion from a kick can be handled quite well by just sidechaining the vsts/loops behind the main beat (i.e the kick, hihats, and snare) :)
do that and you shouldnt have any distortion or in this case "clipping" on the master channel anymore :)
i think im going to have to side with the other guy that said that you leaned hard on the master gain. but really in truly that doesnt matter when were talking about this genre. because to be completely honest, its at commercial loudness. which is all that matters :)
when it comes to this genre, there really isnt a right way to mix and master and most of the time, throw a compressor and a soft clipper on the master and youre fine :)
if youre worried about a mix and master, you shouldnt be. because its all about the feeling and vibe of the track
if everything vibes well and the feeling is good, you're fine
youd be really surprised to know how many professional tracks come like this as well. the clipping is coming from a kick, which is normal. if your kick is a hard hitting, distorted kick, you should EXPECT to have some clipping in the master. its natural because the distorted frequencies make other frequencies distorted as well. as i said, distortion is natural when dealing with a distorted kick
the best advise someone could ever give you with this genre is this: when ever you have a distorted kick, put a soft clipper on the mixer track of that kick. that way, when it comes time for the final product, there will be less distortion with the master channel :)
so since you asked for some feedback i can give you some :)
since i dont know (accurately) what DAW you use, im going to say that you use either FL Studio or Ableton. now since i like FL Studio a lot more, im going to say you use FL Studio :)
there are a lot of things in this track that can be improved on and made better (i.e some of the ways you did things)
during the break at 0:23 the 808 could have been muted and the volume of the loop/vst's could have been increased to give a push into the next verse
during the bridge at 0:38 the filter (sounds like a highpass) could have been layered with either a gross beat or love philter and made more dynamic
the over all snare could be changed entirely and a more punchy/crispy snare could have been used but this is entirely dependent on your sample library (i.e what samples you have) if you would like any recommendations on individual sample packs, i can give you some :)
the 808 could use a little (not too much) distortion so that it stands out a bit more because in the current state it sounds like the volume is raised not saying that thats a bad thing, but in this genre, the 808 is the main part of the track and sometimes distortion makes it stand out a lot more than what volume can do
now lets shift our focus to the mix a bit more :)
overall the mix is actually really clean... not the greatest, but its clean
one way that you can really beef up your mix and make it stand out a lot more is to simply use a soft clipper maxing out the Threshold and barely increasing the Post Gain so that it stays somewhat clean while still giving off the illusion that its louder
along the lines of that, try adding a compressor and increasing the output volume just slightly while keeping everything else untouched
many people have very different views on how to properly mix a trap track and my mixing mentor has told me the same. everyone has different views but the main concept is almost fundamentally the same: make it louder while keeping dynamics and maintaining a clean, smooth mix
overall, these are just my thoughts on what can be done :)
hope you found some usefulness to this and i hope you have an absolutely beautiful day :)
lmao no disrespect taken, and to be honest with you... I don't really remember why I did that. My guess is that I just wanted to make the bass sound harder? idek, but I'm glad you still liked it
Much love my man

really great track btw its really smooth, and relaxing :)

but im curious why you layered a kick on top of the 808, because that 808 already has a tight enough transient and doesnt need a kick on top of it
like i said no disrespect because this is actually really really good :)
but im just curious :)
