Liked this JB. Reminds me of a more ambient Substance era New Order. Have a listen to their track Thieves Like US on Youtube. Either the original or the instrumental version. I think you'll see where I'm coming from. Was'nt overly keen on the change in direction half way through. Maybe that's just me?
RR, don't know the orig track but I thought this flowed well. I'm guessing that the source material is of good quality. I may have to get my hands on that myself. Good job.
As the name suggested it certainly is bangin. I would say it's techno tho? Really nice to hear someone on hear going for the underground sounds. The only thing I would suggest is a bit more variation on the perc and drums. Good work.
Essentially it is a Dub track but I think some of the loops you have used make it some sort of dub/fusion hybrid. I think some of the early reviews hit the nail on the head. Needs some deep bass and needs a load of fx in various places. Fx loops and individual notes. Mix up the fx you use for variation. Experiment with panning. Overall the levels need a good tweak. Not too shabby though for your first dub. Good effort.
dub/fusion I can live with. Took your advice and added a bassline, used an itouch app called argon synth. also added some fx as well. Unfortunately, one of the limitations of beatmaker is how fx are handled, and panning as well. I Think beatmaker was more designed with a live production sort of mindset, and if you want to adjust panning on a loop or section for only a short section, It's only possible live. Same with applying fx, when I add an fx (and I only have 2 channels) it affects the loop in EVERY section, unless I make a copy of the loop and waste one of my precious 16 available pads on a clean version as well.
I'm curious about the levels as well. I'm quickly discovering getting good levels is one of my weaknesses, probably due to inexperience and shitty headphones... So even just some "turn the bass up a bit, and the drums down" type advice would go a long way. Thanks again!
Not too bad. Has potential. Levels need a major tweak. Bass needs to come forard and that main synthy type sound needs to sit back. A bit more dubification would be good too. Drop the beat in sections and the bass in other sections.
To me it sounds like slowed down trance rather than deep house. Although the production sound is clean the track is very one dimensional. I think your track would be more interesting if there was more variation and/or some more unusual sounds and/or fx. Don't be afraid to experiment rather than play safe.
I think you've done really well here SP. A very mellow type of house. The instrumentation works really well. I could imagine it being built up with a full on Diva singing over the top of it. Good job!
Yeah I'm havin some of that one! I love dubbed house and techno and this one works a treat. Don't need to tell you what's good about this track as u already know.
I love the atmosphere created here. I think u need to make some adjustments to the levels. That percy sound needs to sit back a bit in the mix. More dubstep than dub. I think some additional dubby effects on individual notes would work well as the track progresses. Don't know if you had a chane to check out the dub logbook in the forums. Some great pointers in there and worth checking out.
Hey listened twice just to be able to leave a decent review. Firstly let me say I think parts of the track are really beautiful. When the synth with the heavy delays comes in conjunction with the vox is great and the whole mood of the track really compliments the sentiment in the vox. Couple of little things I would look at is the scratching type effect which is out of time. It might be meant to be like that I don't know but to me it was a bit off putting. When a lot of the sounds drop off there is a beat that continues but it sounds like a click and again could be accidental? If so, strip it out. If you do tinker with it let me know. I'd like to hear it. Oh, and it's a download from me. Good job my man.
Liked this groove once that pella was out of the way at the start. The bass is great and hold everything together and the little glitchy vox snippits are cool.
I agree with Frank. It has a summery feel. Not too far away from being a really good track. If you still have the parts I'd be happy to give it a dub remix. Lemme know.
I seem to recall saying the same thing about another one of your tracks - hard as nails. I don't listen to much dnb these days but I can appreciate that ur tracks are less formulaic than some of the stuff on here and u put a lot of thought into the piece.
Thank you Ryan, that means a lot because I really do try to strive to make my songs unique and different from those of other people that make, as you said, formulaic songs.
Thanks again, and I'll hit one of your songs up,
Steve
I notice u seem to get a lot of lurkers listening to ur tracks as opposed to more established members. I can only think that is why the reviews are low. Good job. Has a bit of a Thievery Corp feeling.

Ok lets start with a positive. I really like the bass. It has a nice happy summery vibe. I think you hit the nail on the head with some of the other points. Overall there is a dullness. The sound qaulity is lacking some clarity and oomph. I think the bare bones are there to make a nice track. I accept that the vocal was freestyled but if you're gonna do it again you have an opportunity to improve that area. Maybe work with a singer instead?
I absolutely agree with everything you said. The guy rapping has never been much of a singer (he's more of just a musician) and I think that would really set it off if we had one. Other than that it was pretty much made for fun and I had a blast doing it. I really appreciate your review and hopefully I will get better from here ;)
I'm listening on a really kak set up at my parents house. I'll try and listen when I get home. Liked the flute and horn parts. Everytime I listen to ur tracks I'm impressed with the sounds you've gathered and I think man I'd love to remix that one.
Not too far away from being a really good track. I think it needs a bit more variation in places to keep it interesting and I think it needs a bit of widening or depth? I don't know if you know what I mean but it seems to be lacking a little oopmh. I think it could be ripe for some blackryan dubment!
