Micky, let me start by saying this is an wonderful honor to your wife. The bounce produced by that 4 on the floor is infectious! Then your vocals come on in with all of that power….. hats off! Ok this takes me back to the Chicago house era of the 80! Micky this was an excellent listen. Thanks for sharing your talent.
Hello Mark, when you make a song for the love of your life, the motivation boost is enormous - at least that's what happened to me. I am very happy that something of this energy jumped over to you. Also, I'm glad you mentioned Chicago House. Oh man, I'm a real fan of that. I was already a cover designer in the late 80's and the label we worked for back then wanted to release almost the entire Chicago House portfolio here in Germany. As graphic artists, we then received all of these original records as samples, as sound templates for our work, so to speak. Yes, and that's how I got to know and love this genre. You know: Jack Your Body, Can You Feel It and so on. I just like how reduced it often comes across and yet is very effective. There is also something spiritual about it, if I could only get it.
By the way, I don't want to go unmentioned that I played the bass and guitar "by hand" in the traditional way (cough).
I'm so glad you checked it out and commented so encouragingly.
So Lonely, this is the second track where I find your guitar tone over the top to my ears. Great drive with a banging drum mix and awesome breaks. Great job.
BaoBou, much respect for the heart you put here. There's nothing more rewarding being a musician, writer, composer, studio engineer etc. laying those ideas down and bringing them to life. Hats off for that aspect alone.
Yes sir! I admit it's also frustrating at times - nobody else to blame for everything that isn't good enough :D but ok, that's why we learn:)
Thanks so much for the kind words man!
xstokes interesting interplay between the drums and narrative that’s hitting heavy. I really dig how you set the timing between the two. Interesting listen.
thanks, mark! i’m telling ya, reading eliot is its own reward, but listening to him reading is a journey, and christ that cat had rhythm. thanks for such a nice comment, man!
EXCELLENT! From the saturation on the entrance guitar and throughout to the banging and kicking drum mix all the way down with the expressive melodies this is FiRE! Well done Lonelyawxy! Very well done.
Rob, so this entrance gives a awesome sense of motion. The break @.51 is off the chart good. That groove @1:24 is nasty THO! Then the Rhodes Trip @ 2:14. You seriously hurt me with this! Your classic trademark sound and synth work. This is deep in the FAVE ZONE! TTYL
Rob, so the entrance timing brought on some type of wooziness as l listened. Did you pore olive oil over the drum mix? Huh? To smooth! Synths are the bosses here. I love this. And………….. FafafafaFaved !
Cru, definitely hooked me with the entrance. This continuation is dynamic from top to bottom. The skip bounce @0.29 gives this a lighter feel then @.48 the brief axe business was a very cool transition then we’re back to chill again. So genius to heat things up then deep chill! I like that kinda stuff Cru. Well done on everything.
Thanks Mark. Thanks for listening. I'm trying to get more coherent arrangements. I hope it is becoming somewhat evident. I always appreciate your comments. I'm finally back to my home studio so "here we go again"
UE
pseudoble, so this hits hard. Strong content spoken, every name mentioned made my ears stand on edge on top of that excellent instrumentation. You captured the essence of meaningful expression! Faved my friend.
Rob! You did this classic big time justice. That bass line never gets old. The synth tho! The bass! What’s up with that drum business @ round bout 1:40? Nice breakdown too. Ok faved!
What's up Mark,
You know that sooner or later I was
going to have to give my boy his props.
This was a one and done. I'm glad you liked
my Drum embellishment @ 1:40. I was trying to
stat as minimalist as possible on this track. I
was so grateful that it seemed to work without me
having to go through all the rituals I usually use
that take weeks or sometimes longer.
Thank you for your listen, Fave and continuing encouragement
along our musical journey.
Cam, so right @ about 1:49 the change with the chord progression is highly impactful to my ears. Then the unison fullness guitar work and strings made this quite impressive. Drum mix is balanced to perfection and finally, the outro piano crowned this perfectly. Another great work.
Modnex, condolences to you and your family from me and my family. This work is a honorable tribute to your cousin. There’s a possibility that someone struggling with the same battle will listen and know that someone cares. Hats off to you and also the mix is full on point. Take it all the way.
Thank you, Mark! As an artist and someone who has dealt with struggles and knows people who have. I would love it if my songs could touch someone who is having these same struggles and let them know they matter.
Ahhhh Cru! I'm A student in your school! Is that a smidgen of Afro beats and a pinch of electro house, maybe? Whatever the style, you did this right. Great job having me bounce at the computer.
So, it was a Brazillian afro beat with touches of House and Moombahton with that metal crunch and as Phantom states a touch of Death. glad U liked and could bounce to it.
