on Stay by Jeffiedillard
aching vocs.

i feel the heartache.

I want you to know, that one time, i broke up with this girl, and it just wasn't working... I couldn't give her what she needed, no matter what I tried.. I couldn't love her. and I was forcing myself..

But one of the things that we talked about in the break up was, that we would meet again in a future life.

I love songs about heartache.

I was gonna mention, that.. i can hear the humm of the room in your vocals... I would.. just like to encourage you to get a better mic, even a 70 dollar mic... secondly turn off the fans, and see if you can record in a closet or something, and then using a click track, edit that in. Also, thirdly and finally, there are high-pass filters, that will cancel out a lot of the static/humm, and it won't Affect your vocal range, because vocs are like 70-1,200, soo a High Pass filter, cutting freqs at like 1,700 or something.. that would help.

I love it!
I hope I did not offend you... I mean well, honestly.
Keep it up!!

Yah...

Please don't stop doing this style tho!... This is Great!!!

You have a new fan here!

I do think that your levels are just on the verge of being PERFECT! But if you listen very closely to some of the synths and MAYBE your bass drums are clipping..
Just subtle crackles. It's called digital distortion..
I don't know about how much you know about mastering, and I hope I am not offending you, because this sounds great!
Just that you are clipping, just a little bit.

I cannot wait to hear this collab!!!!!

This is FANTASTIC WORK.

brecken replied Unknown
I know close to nothing about mastering, and have no idea how to get rid of what I now know is called digital distortion. hahaha.
Offending? pfffffft, no way, i'd just like to know how to fix it :)

on Canadian Pride by Randall822
At one time when I was very young, my friend told me that all zombies came from canada. And.. in my ignorance I believed them..

But as I have grown, I have realized that Canadians are probably the coolest cats out there.

WOW Randy... I soo need to get to my e-mails, but I was trying to get some reviews out... DAMN!!!!!

THIS IS GREAT!!!
BILBOZO will be PROUD!

Too short. alkie has a point. hehe. I wonder if Avril Lavigne used the same loops?

Either way! Great! You definitely have a knack for the arrangement. This proves it!

Hi there Abe,
Nice to hear from you. I haven't forgotten you and your song. :-)

Glad you liked this little tune. I have a few more similar ones to work on, but they are on the back burner till I can catch up with what I have started.

Unfortunately, I haven't hardly listened to any Avril's songs...except 'Skater boi' hee hee

Maybe it was a sublimial message in my head as I made it?
Thanks for listening,
Randy

Dig it!

I really need to go thru some your older tracks, I want to see how you have progressed, which I will do when I am done replying to all my reviews.

hmmm.. ok.. just something i hear in my head.. near the end change it up subtly with a piano loop??
Something ambient to pull the tension of the great groove?!?

Really great track! Totally digging the synth arp!

wow...

Amazing!
It made me thinking about getting in a car wreck late at night.
and then just obliviously trying to make it out of the wreckage.

or... like running from monsters thru big city streets and alley ways.

Totally dig!

I was pissed about not having hot water at my place and I got to thinking about slumlords and not taking care of their tenants and then being told the plumber might be out in a couple days...haha...I felt like I was being short handed...I came up with underslumed???? hahaha - that's what was going on when I was working on the track waiting for my water to get fixed...other than that I just thought it sounded kinda glum....and yes I am sober right now. lol. Thanks for the review man!

More bosonhavok madness!

Dude, I am such a huge fan of your experimental stuff!

You are like a virus in the machine!
Sooo cool... I need to learn how to do this! heheh.
at 1.34ish i really dug the synth line...
I somehow wanted to hear just the most creapiest pads over this..
Like ambient structure outlining the glitch structure..
Something dreamy and ominous...
That's just what I hear in my head. heh...

The rhythms in hear are just fantastic!
It's like tape gone evil...
heheh..

another awesome synth at 3.30..
the whole middle was just brilliant.
4 minutes to like 6. AWESOME
Love it!!!
Only thing I was daydreaming in my head was an ambient pad.
This is incredible with or without.

on Midnight Melody by Rockingchair
I guess this must be your oldest track..
and i wanted to see how you progressed..

Hmm...
You use magix or acid huh?
I hear the musical algorithm on this.. but i don't know how magix or acid accounts for that..
I use ableton, and it has a complex wave analyzer that can account for the warbly sounds when they get warped..
You might google.. but this is 8 months old.. so I am assuming.. because your newer tracks don't have it.. heh...

Ahem...

GREAT SONG!!!

I use sound Studio (Sony)I have not yet learned to filter on edit. The software often fades on sometimes in a mix it envelopes wich sometimes is good when I want it.Ive been working a lttle bit with a techno sound and find that the overlay is quite helpful sometimes,I would like to find a one shot sequencer so I can play with some melodies that are not pre programed my keyboard (Yamaha)gives me latency.I havent been involved with this a whole long time learning all the time !!Thanks for the review....Rockingchair

on The Lyrics Track by Rockingchair
I am glad we are getting into each others music..
I am glad I am anyways..

Did you play any of the guitars? No worries if not... totally cool either way.. It takes a musical ear to layer the loops in an effective manner such as this.

I was thinking maybe just one-hit guitar sound under the last 2 minutes.... or a synth?? i dunno hehe.. just what i hear in my head.

I really liked the organic bluesy feel..
The tom filled house like beat.
The great synth sounds that added an electro.. modern feel.
It had a VERY ... chill.. yet accumulative feel across wide varieties of genres..
It sounded professional...

I can't wait for the final.. But I will be taking a demo to listen in the car when I am driving at night.

You are the man dejan!!!!

Totally got a fan here!

It's nice to hear the full version, finally.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I will tell all my friends!

I think you could do a lot of things to the drums... Try a bunch of different ideas..
One thought... just a subtle plate reverb on the drums? It might make the drums a little bit warmer.

Either way.. I think you did put a reverb on the guitar...
I dunno..
It's such a great song!!!
I love it!

on Crying Angel by CTPLR
Soo far, and i know we don't know each other really well, you really come off as an artist.
I can hear the Kaos in this, you are a master at that.

I see it like this, it's like....

a short story called "alividlife goes to a club"

"I am going to a club tonight...", I say..
Friend inquires, "ohh what are they playing?"
"...well it's treyc tonight"....
"what does treyc sound like??", asks my friend..

"i dunno it's treyc."

make sense?

Really cool... I will remain critical tho... I could tell they were loops, but the girl voice saying "you know" i couldn't... soooo I don't want to make your heard hurt, but if you could subtly layer effects over each sample sooo as it melts together??? make this like musical grape juice lol....

I guess what I am saying is that it is fucking awesome
fav.
dl.

drum work was TOP NOTCH. there was all types of pulling rhythms in the synth and drums... really cool. can't help but dance.

Keep it up, you keep making them, i will keep enjoying them.

on Beach Days by Planetjazzbass
I really do.
I think that is sooo cool.
It adds such a great air to your tracks.

I will be critical, as this works, and then it doesn't.. It feels like just pure stream of consciousness saying one thing. Just jazzy and flowing. Moving from tension to release and strange states of yes.. and no...

So... I am trying to grasp the beach , and then trying to grasp your music.
It is very cool.. Trying to figure out what your life might have been like.

Very cool.

Silence of the Lambs.. Awesome.

THIS IS DISTURBING. And I love your ambient sounding stuff a lot. Chernobyl is like one of the best songs EVER.
This is not as accesible, but the imagery here is amazing.

on Two Worlds by Planetjazzbass
I heard about this collab about two weeks ago.
VERY POWERFUL. Sorry I didn't catch it sooner.
What kind of poetry do they consider that.
It's like... Abstract, and an older english form...
tho, I think this can be completely judged by it's own standards.
Elaine should have done a steven perry rock and roll scream at the end... (teehee, soo messing with you sir)

I did enjoy the poetry, but I do think Elaine was a bit subdued.
I had to strain to hear what she was saying.

But... ON the other hand, it made your incredible guitar playing stand out.
JUST
incredible
Latin, yet Medieval.
Nylon butter, but modern effects.
Great visual imagery and lyrical content.
I think I shall fall asleep to this song tonight.
Planetjazzbass
Planetjazzbass replied Unknown
Yes I agree about the levels..there is a reason as I had to compensate for some background rumble on the voice track..any lower with the music and it became apparent..However I hear exactly what your saying..the music should be a lot more subdued and underpin the poem...giving it more visual appeal..the next one will be better...cheers mate..planet :)

This is really good. I do agree with Matney a lil bit... I dunno, if you have the mix still in your DAW, you should just go WACKY and try things you may think will work, or ... you know.

Very cooool.

I love seven years in tibet.
(I should get the book)

1:50 mark serious chills. That is an awesome pad. Fearful almost.
Ominous. And then wistful.

That was awesome.
I love it, you managed to mix a great solid ethnic feel, and then a serious ghetto-ass hook style beatboxing, breathtaking pads.
My only qualm is there anyway you can clean up the intro?? Sounds like it was taken from tape? or the thunderstorm sample is a little crappy, but, it's ok.

I wish there was a good rain sample/thundersample.. I actually have created rain by taking vinyl distortion, filtering it, and then adding pingpong delay, you could also try taking a heavy metal guitar, then dropping it 12-18 semitones, and adding filters, and piecing it together, creating an awesome thunderish sound.

This is Great stuff, in fact, I have Rock It, on my ipod, and when I am shuffling thru the looperman mix, it's always a stop everything and moonwalk/breakdance moment.

I have a feeling a lot of your tracks are gonna be like that for me.

YOU are Really good.
Thank You soo much for sharing your insane thought, and talent!

This was justinPM... thanks for the download..
Goin' on the iPod
the hi-hat fill was a bit too much in the mix. (in the last seconds)

I would assume you have a mic...
take the mic... record stuff.. then add hella effects
and then add them to the track.
AND JUST subtly... not many dbs...
just do it. so it is in the background.
You know that is a pad?.. in my opinion it is.
I think it might make this a really really good track.

on No More Rain by MightyMemphis
this was ambient.
almost Down-Tempo.

I like the groove.
It's peaceful.
Just thoughtful
Effects, changeups on the Breath sound... From..? cystem?
I think that could add some different feelings to this..

You have such a nice mix... you have to watch out for that point of... dude, did I go tooo far? did I fuck up?
That is not a fun place to be.
Keep it simple, but add some fun effects, and let it just happen.
If it doesn't .. oh well.

Either way, this is a great song.

grab a ping delay, sync the three channels to 2-beat, and then fade in and out as you overwrite the strings in a punch in overwrite...

this was normalized to -6 , -3db is loud and typical for music.
Of course as I have stated 0 db is what i shoot for heheh.

You are just getting better and better.
Arp gave me chills, the effects were really cool, it actually felt like a wave of hallucinogen sweeping thru my ears!

on Its Over- Kage1 challenge sing it by Rockingchair
the lyrics are tight.

This RIDE IS OVER!!!

wow....

That was just very very pronounced... his come off is... well that he knows what to say, but he needs to get a little bit of swagger. Just say it like you were talking to a friend!

but it is just soo ironic, because then he says, you don't care what i say anyway.. and then the way he says that... just brilliant.. So thought out. If some chick ripped me off, if some drug deal went bad, if I got fired from a job. No worries if even my babby mamma got robbed!
Got me riffing on lyrical ideas.
(I have not fathered a child THANK GOD!)

that is deep, literaly, and it works across any listener.

Why is it soo muffled??
Remove the blanket from the mike and go buy some headphones?

heheh.. sorry.. not talking shit... I love it!

wow.. third listen... did you chop his vocs?... he should try and get a deep breathing feel... sooo you can hear the emotion in EACH word... LIKE SLOW.. but then when he says each word, it is just a fucking SLEDGEHAMMER.

Tell Josh he is a poet, and then a rapper... and also... GOOD luck with that.
