I like your flow, but you need a better mic (just something that I thought when I heard it) also, using ableton us the eq to make your vocals "fit" better in the mix. (The sound kind of flat)
Hey really unique sound! I really like how crazy the track is, except i would say that the pulse lead melody that plays at 1:46 could have been made better by turning down the detune, because it makes it sound like you are playing bum notes over the bass line.
Hello, thank you for the good comment! Apologies for taking so long to respond, but I've been working like crazy to finish this to my satisfaction. The update is here now. You were right about the pulse synth... the detune was intentional, but has been removed, and in the process I realized that this synth has gone WAY out of tune... like it was in the key of F instead of C! Thank you for bringing it up! Also repatched and improved the scaling of the modular bass, so that helps. I appreciate it!
Amazing work so far! Really love how groovy the track is! I would add some live playing, but my mic isn't of good quality so I think it would detract from the song, not add to it.
Hey! Don't limit yourself! Please, feel free to send me what you'd like. Y'know, a few good bars of live playing. As for the quality, I'm sure that can be worked on or edited. I encourage you to participate with this song man. My plan is to get others to add in his/her own stuff, and create a big collab track. Just send me a message if you're interested, my friend. And everyone who is involved, will absolutely be credited. Peace!
I like this, but maybe you could throw in some new house elements in there too, like some more melodies and maybe a breakdown of epic proportions to make it different.
Thanks Rico, this track is quite old and the stems were deleted couple of years ago (bad habit) But thanks for the tip. However it does need work I must admit.
Really strange yet peaceful sound. Could really feel like something was being painted onto my consciousness while listening. Props to you sir! The only thing I could say is to get a new water sample because its looping pretty hard lol.
Wow, thanks Rico. I hear it at least 3 missing timings. This is definitely an encouragement from you. :)
I do like trance so I couldn't help not putting those pads. Will try on trance some time.
Really great track here. Love how airy and open your chords feel, great choice of sustained chords to your credit. The only thing I would have to say is to maybe lower the volume of the vocals when they come in so they do not squash the mix so much.
Hi Rico,
I will consider lowering the vocals in the final mix: I tend to keep vocal parts much to the foreground, but in this case it should be considered as an "instrument" (and for me is always difficult to lower the volume on Janis' voice, I like her voice too much).
Loving how groovy the entire track is. Also love the ambient feel by the vocal shouts! Great work on the bass as well as the filler melodies in the background by the strings. Loved the gritty synth use during the funky part as well. All fantastic work here as always Static!
Thanks - groove is probably my greatest inspiration in music. Then far out and beautiful sounds and probably then badass riffs though it's hard to rank these things (and I don't really need to).
I'm actually a pretty crap musician without a groove so I kind of need to knock good ones up in order to really feel a piece of music and play something good along with it. So, if any of my tracks don't have a good groove, I've probably failed.
You are the first to mention any vocal shouts. There are just occasionally brief bits of that same female vocal instrument from my heavy track Valvedriven. Remember that one?
Yes, the filler strings melodies perform an important function. Good fun getting them to fit here and there. They're excellent as a background element though I, of course, had to bring them right up front at times, especially the last 90 secs (my favourite section).
I think that gritty synth is somewhere around 2:00-2:30, where things get a bit more bombastic and I have a few synth layers, all playing nearly the same thing. Plus rock guitar on top (which I strongly considered removing).
No more new tracks from me for a few weeks as I'm working on some difficult heavy ones. One is a jazz metal one that used to be part of this track. Just as well I removed those sections as they would make this a weird trip and I prefer it as a more streamlined dance-chill thing. Best not to go off in jazz and metal directions in this one.
Thanks ludwicke! It was a song I wrote while still in high school that I finally got to record :) I started playing guitar about 4 years ago haha. But the stuff I'm playing honestly isn't too difficult, if one knows how to strum and handle a pick. I guess it's simplicity is where the beauty lies haha. Appreciate the kind words!
Loved this spivkurl,
LivingInSilence would love this too I'm sure because he loves making his own instruments and you do a fantastic job of that here. Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the good work!
Hey, thanks for the feedback! I guess I didn't realize LivingInSilence was building instruments, I'll have to look into that! Happy that you enjoyed listening to this. Appreciate it!
