I really love this beat. Thinking of throwing something on it. I seem to be in the minority though, as I feel the vibe get thrown a tiny bit by the shouts. I wouldn't have put them in, but that's just me. Otherwise, it's clean. Very nice man.
Thanks! And I see where you're coming from. I guess the shouts are just a matter of personal preference. Either you like them or you don't. No harm no foul. But I appreciate the listen anyways.
nothing weird about it to my ear MrShores...Its just good music put in a modern hip hop context..actually I don`t find the bass overstated at all...with the kick its holding down the bottom end well and I have noticed that bass is generally a more prominent part of music that it used to be...as far as EQ in your high mids go...I always give the lead (piano) its natural space and make other overlapping sounds go around it...I like the track...its really well done..and I really don`t think it needs more than you have here.....much enjoyed....Ed
Hey I love this song and I am going to try and write something worhy of putting my voice to this. Thank you for your generosity and thank you for ltting us use this.
I'm glad you liked it.... But that ay! is my own little special loop. I listed how to make one in a previous comment, so you can just do that, but I'm keeping this one for myself. Nothing personal.
Its strange that I played guitar professionally for many years, but have always admired the sound of a piano. This is a beautiful song and piano can tell a story like no other instrument. Use a little subtractive eq in the mids and this will clean up nicely.
Thanks for the review. Yeah I noticed the mids were a bit sloppy. I think it is on part due to to my lack of panning. There is no sound strange so the middle is a bit crowded. But i have put that on my to do list. Thanks for the constructive criticism. It's how I grow.
Very imaginative intro that leads into a smooth opening with the deep drums and that rev. orgran type sound. In fact those strings, expressive, do provide a reflective feel. Can get lost for awhile just in thoughts about it all. I sensed a smile after seeing all the madness one has been through. Made it thru the storm I heard a soft voice gently singing near the ending. I'm no good with levels but, to me seems good and it works for this moment. Thank you for the share, good ideas here. Keep at it man, Peace.
Glad you liked the track! I've had this one in my head for a while so it was good to finally get it out. I do indeed write weird music, but i like it. And i appreciate the listen and your review. Thanks man.
Nice track, like how you made the track different because it makes you unique in that way ;) And very good for first attempt. Looking forward to see someone doing the lyrics on this song and I hope you find someone
I appreciate your comment. I noticed the strings issue during production, but couldn't figure out how to fix it. I'll try panning and mixing some more. I'm glad you liked it... for the most part. Ha.
That's it! You, my friend, are a genius. This is why I love looperman. I noticed the whole strings issue during production, but I couldn't figure out how to fix it. I tried to fix it in my mixing and EQ'ing but it didn't fix the problem. I forgot all about panning. Thank you so much.
beautiful lyrical intro. i am really hearing the rap over this one so I think you have succeeded. introducing classical feeling with strings, extended melodic sections is innovative fresh sounding. the "shouts" remind us we are still in hip-hop land! the dissonance in piano at the end is unexpected bite! nice work.
Thanks, I appreciate it. And yea, the shouting was originally a lady screaming "DJ!" but I cut out the first syllable and put an echo on the "Ay" part of Jay. I didn't think anyone would notice it. I'm glad it stood out. Thanks.
read your comment about the bass It's funny I just learned this today so hope it helps I am using FL 10 but if can try adjusting the mixer volume or a parametric equalizer or a limiter helps control the pitch power and volume of the bass again hope this helps and I love your work.
Yea, I work with Mixcraft 6, so I've been using the EQ on my master track. I just wanted to try to keep the punch but lower some of that reverb. I have master limiters on all my tracks to control the volume, but I'm still working out some of the kinks. I may even leave it as is, but I'm grateful for your input.
hey as far as I am concerned you knocked this out of the park. I am new hear but can only hope to make beats that good maybe after a few hundred more tutorials lol. You going on the fav list for sure bra! great work.

you need to work on your panning...everything sounds to centered...panning will give it a wider sound
when the strings come in at the hook..it just a bit to loud
it's drowning the rest of the instruments.
nice mix tho
