Description : I make weird music, so brace yourself. This is a somewhat emotional beat; RnB/hip hop type song. This is my first attempt at making a rap instrumental. I know the bass is kinda like in your face, but other than that all criticisms are WELCOMED. I made this a while back, so cut me some slack, I've made progress. Regardless, please give me as much advice as you see fit.

Also, feel free to rap or sing to this or whatever you do.I'd love to hear what people do with it. Just put a link in a comment. And thanks to Chefboydee for the drums.

I dont like rap as genre overall, but this one is a nice one. Maybe a bit too long (for me), but cool. Good job!

I really like this:)

I really love this beat. Thinking of throwing something on it. I seem to be in the minority though, as I feel the vibe get thrown a tiny bit by the shouts. I wouldn't have put them in, but that's just me. Otherwise, it's clean. Very nice man.

MrShores replied 1st Aug 2013 - 13 years ago

Thanks! And I see where you're coming from. I guess the shouts are just a matter of personal preference. Either you like them or you don't. No harm no foul. But I appreciate the listen anyways.

Oh that piano!! Loved it.
Overall a VERY good track - and a pleasent surprise - I usually avoid everything hip hoppish...don't know why.

MrShores replied 1st Aug 2013 - 13 years ago

Thanks! And I don't blame you. Hip hop these is days is kinda... ehh >____> but that's why I make music. I'm glad you liked it.

nothing weird about it to my ear MrShores...Its just good music put in a modern hip hop context..actually I don`t find the bass overstated at all...with the kick its holding down the bottom end well and I have noticed that bass is generally a more prominent part of music that it used to be...as far as EQ in your high mids go...I always give the lead (piano) its natural space and make other overlapping sounds go around it...I like the track...its really well done..and I really don`t think it needs more than you have here.....much enjoyed....Ed

Haha Okay *wink*

DjRymZ 5th Jul 2013 18:20 - 13 years ago

Nice one dhoe...Can i have that ay! shouting??...It's sounds good

MrShores replied 5th Jul 2013 - 13 years ago

I'm glad you liked it.... But that ay! is my own little special loop. I listed how to make one in a previous comment, so you can just do that, but I'm keeping this one for myself. Nothing personal.

Its strange that I played guitar professionally for many years, but have always admired the sound of a piano. This is a beautiful song and piano can tell a story like no other instrument. Use a little subtractive eq in the mids and this will clean up nicely.

MrShores replied 3rd Jul 2013 - 13 years ago

Thanks for the review. Yeah I noticed the mids were a bit sloppy. I think it is on part due to to my lack of panning. There is no sound strange so the middle is a bit crowded. But i have put that on my to do list. Thanks for the constructive criticism. It's how I grow.
