As you see I've put slashes between possible issues to make it questionable...ok, there's no clipping then...but what about other two options ?

I can only echoe what Bear and Spiv already said and this could have been easily among Top 5 in my books if it wansn't for some inexplicable harshness/distortion/clipping in the last movement, particulary on the right chanel...May I suggest you to listen to it again very carefully and possibly fix the issue...there's still enough time:)...but overall excellent job !:)

Compliments and good luck_____Orlando

there is no clipping dude I checked each individual channel, every group channel and the master out with a level meter and clip statistics, nothing goes over 0

Sounds very cool so far! I like the bright sound you got on the piano part. Nice calm tone to the bass as well. Cool balance of frequencies in the master! I still find that some of the electric guitars are masking eachother, but they work well together. Definitely a nice stereo field here. Cool how everything gets sparse near the end. Great work!

thanks Spivkurl that piano yea I noticed on the spectrum it didn't have any top end at all and I decided it was sounding a bit dull and I wanted it to sound brighter so I put a high shelf filter on it. I monofiltered the bass below 80hz to tighten up the subs. But yea the guitars were the hardest thing to mix they were all over the place bits out of tune and all kinda shit I decided that 2 of the guitar parts had to be more dominant thats what I went for. Cheers

Ahhh, another really solid job. Beautiful wide mix, with great clarity on the instruments. All of them have room to breathe......bass is good and solid as well. Nice use of dynamics at 3:10 to transition into the final segment, and the work you did with the ending as well.

Not a lot to critique on this one. It is a really good mix. You overcame the majority of the "problems" presented with the stems. Terrific effort. Thanks for entering. I hope all is well.

hey thanks man, it was a good exercise for me and the fact that you like the mixdown has reaffirmed to me that I'm actually getting quite good at mixing.

I did my usual standard mixdown on this. My own stuff is a lot more minimal and less musical electronica so it's easier to mix. This was quite challenging but it's nice to know that my technique kinda works.

Thanks for the opportunity and the lesson. Z

really nice production, funny making music story process behind it, it catches my attention and it is an anchor on the entire track. really good quality of the recording, nice experiments. Congratulations, Alex

I'm amazed of how you manage to bring all those sounds together without drowning any of them in the process - it's sounding crispy clean and evenly...compressed?

Great work and mad mixing/mastering skills.

zombieme replied 22nd Sep 2014 - 11 years ago
thanks man, I very rarely use compressors on individual channels. They're tricky things to get right and you can end up loosing all the dynamics and completely f'ing it up so I use tube pre amp emulations to get things loud and eq to separate the various frequencies whilst checking things on a spectrum analyzer. I do use a maximizer/limiter on the master throughout the whole process, seems to work.

hi again zombieme, this tune is still in progress I guess...
the funny thing is that you create some kind of expectations at the beginning of the piece using the female voice and wait too long then start slowly some meditative-chillout music (and this is a very nice chillout!). Maybe it's just me but the character of the vox intro doesn't fit somehow to the first part(0:11 - 1:30)... But still it is some very interesting composition. I like the use of all syhth pads in here - this is very nice!... I thought about some old band Astral Projection and it's 'Dancing Galaxy' when listening to your piece. The groove that starts at 1:30 is quite similar to their work...
Very nice production, chill and really easy to listen to.

hello mate yea I know what you mean it does sound a bit weird. I really need to do some more work on this tune, I got kinda stuck on it up to this point. It's interesting you say that because I really like that old kinda trance music and I think it comes through sometimes in my own compositions. thanks again Alex.

I like a bit of drum and bass so those swirling pads and heavy bassline are a nice thing to wake up to this morning. I can feel it building now, yeah nice sweet atmosphere, it's pretty chilled for a d&b piece but it all gels together really nicely. Your pad work is excellent throughout and the mix is crystal clear. I like the way it has kind of a dubby vibe to it with a futuristic sounding overlay. The samples are nice as well, where did you get those from?
Great track.

Deep darkness i love. Excellent steady pace with this, with intricate cuts and extreme focus on the actual atmosphere. Very good ideas here, synth is gritty and dark sounding too. Waveform did seem like a concern like Static was saying but it seems you know what the hell your doing. ha Downloaded and faved. Amazing dark work. I'll be looking out for your tunes. peace

Hey my friend, great track. As you are possibly aware Looperman & Loop Radio are trying to arrange a day of Looperman celebrations on the 31st May. I am hoping to do a 2 hour show featuring Dance music from Looperman artists & would also like to feature Looperman tracks in my regular show. As this is available for download (thanx for sharing)I hope you will be OK with me airing it on the day or on another show?
Thanx.

Nice track, love your choice of vocal samples, definitely trippy. I would have liked to hear a sub bass to beef up the low end during the main sections though.

yea I love that shit, Grooveriders Mysteries Of Funk is one of all time favorite DnB albums which btw was produced by Optical who is prob my favorite Dnb Artists. I met Ed Rush a few times and he's a bit of a knob head so not so much him lol
