Very well done. Awesome recording and production for a live bit. That is not easy. I can tell you felt what you were singing and thats all we can be asked to do. Your voice is absolutely beautiful as all have already mentioned. Is there anyway you can add bass or piano to your live stuff? I really loved the harmonies. I am a harmony person also, so did you dub those in after the original take? Thank you for such a gift!
Hi Carole,
You have been away too long!
I am glad I found this new song of yours: your voice is beautiful as usual, warm on the lower register and simply lovely on the higher tones.
I really like this "Janis71" unplugged feeling :-)
Very good!
Ciao, Domenico
I was sad to be kept away from here and I'm all the more happy to come back now that the sky's clearer.
Reading such warm words as yours make my heart smile and I thank you a lot for that.
Thx for being and letting me know you're there...
Big hug and kiss.
I had my first attempt at making dubstep the other day and it was utter dog sh1t!!
This on the other hand is pretty good. You nailed those crazy dubstep basses and you got that sexy french rap thing going on. the "la la la la la" is quite amusing and perhaps you should take that out?
Not bad for a first attempt and kudos for having a crack at it.
FR
beautifully by your honesty in singing than can be felted while I was listening...I like the parts when you sing higher...and this rough sounds...makes me feel just like we are in the same room...and I have the privilege to hear you in a live concert...
Aw thx, OxygenFree ! I'd love to share such a moment with Loopies somewhere, having a jam session and laughing a lot with much joy in the heart.
I'm happy you had such a sensation, to me it means I managed to get close to people through music and that's a very precious privilege.
I wish we could all meet some day...
Merci beaucoup for your valuable comment.
Peace
I say it every time i come round but your tracks always make me wish i could sing.
This is great. I love the way your voice carries the tune. Perhaps you could have turned the music up a little bit as it has taken a back seat in this number. That said i like the layering of the vocals and singing in french is sexy. I love the french language, I got a copy of that Rosetta Stone to see if i could learn it. So far i've used it once because i got p**sed off with the fact that it didn't like my pronounciation of "Une Fille" & "Un Garcon" i tried and i tried, then i threw my headset across the room, turned it off and haven't tried again since ha ha. One day. One day.
Anyway great track.

TO ANUBIS :
Oops, don't know what I did but my reply got posted before I finished it, sorry. Please don't take the last stanza into account, it's full of mistakes ( was lazy and found some lyrics with mistakes on the net and was checking them ).
I thank you for your kind words, especially about good and relaxing sensations. I appreciated them a lot.
Merci :)
"When the light shivers offshore
Through the tide of oceans
We are shining in the rising sun
As we are floating in the blue
I am softly watching you
Oh boy, your eyes betray what burns inside you
Whatever I feel for you
You only seem to care about you
Is there any chance you could see me too?
Cause I love you
Is there anything I could do
Just to get some attention from you
In the waves I've lost every trace of you
Where are you?
I Love you
Is there anything I could do
Just to get ome attention from you
In the ways our lives take trace of you
Where are you?
Consider yourself severely chastized for staying away for so long HaHa (actually I had to be away for most of the past month myself)...well...you can sit there with your guitar and play as long as you want and I will keep listening....thats the way many many of my fav songs of all time have been done....and I always enjoy your songs Carole....well done again.....Ed
I can't help blushing like a peonie (French calked, lol) while reading your words, my dear Ed...
I'm lucky you didn't see me playing that one-fingered chorus and Bm chord, ha ha...
So reading such positive words from you is more than an honour to me...
Merci from the bottom of my heart, Ed.

Hi. This is a really good cover of a truly great song.
Your voice is excellent but doesn't have the weird and powerful edge of Beth Gibbons. She's got some disturbing menace and pain in her voice. That makes it kind of special though it can also get a bit grating at times (especially on a track that's not so good).
But I can't fault most of the singing except for 1:44 where the volume you're singing at overloads the mic and introduces clipping.
Lots of your phrasing I like a lot.
2:52 good job in mimicking the vocal effect of the original. Good attention to detail there.
Overall - an excellent cover that's very close to the original without trying to sound quite like Beth Gibbons.
This is a hot track.
From the opening line it's just brilliant. I've often thought of writing a love song but i'm far too dark, moody and hyper to do it.
Maybe when i hit the age of about sixty i'll calm down but at the moment it's "Rave to the grave" lol
But anyway, that's completely off topic so i'll just finish by saying i love the guitars and the percussion. But i don't like them as much as your voice.
When are we going to do that collab then? hassle hassle hint hint lol
FR
I don't agree with you, my dear N. I'm sure you'd write wonderful love songs precisely with that dark side of yours. I so wish you'll try some day...
As to the collab, I'm still in ! Please send me sthg and I'll have a serious try :)
Thx for your words, coming from you, they mean a lot to me.
Take care, N. Promise ?

Agréable de t'entendre à nouveau dans ce style très dépouillé et très folk .... mais toujours avec ta grande particularité vocale reconnaissable entre tous ....
Hey Carole, haven't seen you around for some time so i thought i'd pop over and check out your tunage.
I always loved the original of this track and you've nailed this cover of it.
Flawless from start to finish and it takes me back to the ninetys which was probably the best time of my life (for now)
Anyway, hope you're ok and it would be nice to see you on the site again.

Sometimes I wonder what else is worth singing about but love. I feel each person we love instigates a different feeling in us. This one, tainted with doom, is maybe one of the deepest.
Did my best to play and sing it with my heart.
You'd have a big laugh if you saw how I play the Bm chord, Attila ! he he
Merci for your friendly review. Hope you're fine.
Kisses in return :)
A pepper mill.... I like it, creative for sure. There is something about a vocal and an acoustic guitar that works for me, especially when it is as beautiful as this song. Gave this one a few listens, love the lyrics. The chorus is great, nice change. Simple and beautiful, thanks, glad to have you back!
Hi Wayne and thx a lot for your warm review on that humble cover.
I discovered Woodkid recently (they're French :p) and was so moved by their video clip that I tried the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQu8FOjJXdI
"Today I will tell you the story of a man who drowned in the cold waters of the ocean after losing the one he loved. This is the story of a man who died twice." is the translation of the priest's words in Russian.
There are songs that become unforgettable and will always convey a special feeling or memory.
Although awkward, I put a lot of heart in that cover and I'm very glad you liked it, Wayne.
Merci for your time and attention,
Peace
You have a great voice.. And Janice had a great voice. You added your own distinct sound to this classic. Maybe it's a simple as imbibing too much southern comfort? I wouldn't know as I have an awful voice. But I do know I enjoy listening to your voice.
