Intro with some vocals...not so common on your tracks. Classy.
Then at 1:25 the synth arpeggio comes in: superb sound and the contrast with the "noises" (whip?) works very well.
I really admire your ability to build "moving carpets" with these pads. Good.
What is not "on-par" (according to my humble opinion) is the sound you chose for the synth melody at 3:33
(exactly half of the number-of-the-beast ... wow! firs the witches ...now this...what are you doing to me Cru?)

The slaps come in ... and I love the lead synth sound at 4:22 ... simply beautiful. You are the master!
Also the scales you are playing create little dissonances which prepare perfectly the chords in the next section.

The end "closes the circle"...

What can I say?
This is a thing of beauty.
Loved.
Ciao, Domenico

PS: have you noticed that you are dangerously moving into the zone of MrNomad track's duration? ;-)

Monsieur Loup.
Merci for the nice comments. "Whip" drum was my attempt at something new.

"Moving carpets" is a cool expression for the Pads.
"exactly half of the number-of-the-beast ... wow! firs the witches ...now this...what are you doing to me Cru?)"

As someone who doesn't believe in fairy tales, I assure you the 3:33 is just a coincidence. (Or is it Muoooohhhhhaaaaaahhhaaaaa.sic evil laughter fades out into a seriously dark reverb panned hall)

"Also the scales you are playing create little dissonances which prepare perfectly the chords in the next section."

Good Catch, I solo'ed in Fm over a Cm scale.

"PS: have you noticed that you are dangerously moving into the zone of MrNomad track's duration? ;-)"

Ahh no fears as most of his works are twenty minutes long chopped into segments. Myself I wrote this long before I listened to his work and I think I have only recorded one tune that exceeds the twenty minute mark.

ood to hear from you
Ciao

Cru..(666...illuminati....redrum...) Sorry bout that...don't know what came over me....oh yes I do...irrationality...good day. ;-)

yes an avantgard track from one of few avant gard musicians here ..
piano movemenT which begins the track is dolce & gentle & in the same time melancholich & imagery (especially with those haunting sounds )..a serious parT for pianO ..
smart & interesting transition around 1:39 which says :
'' U're listening to a Crucethus track , so U usualy can expect a variation or modulation ...''
wished I was born as the wind ...Steve ...
wished I wass born as a sound , a voice , a memory or a thought which has no physical & solid existance...which can fly away from here ...
...this one was talking without the words ....conceptual & also expressive & impressive ...
merci for sharing this ...
hope everything goes fine with U beyond that monitor ...

Badalamenti has this way of making beautiful sounds turn ugly without ever losing it's beauty. If that makes a lick of sense. I had never heard "Nostalgia" before. I'm glad I have now. Thanks for the link.

When the ancient Celts would make their knotwork, they would always intentionally leave a flaw. It was their opinion that the only thing capable of perfection were the gods. Once I heard that years ago, it gave me a new appreciation for flaws in our work. It keeps it human. It's almost a little more intimate. So, that missed note at 1:06 gives this song more life than it otherwise already has. I can fully understand why you left it in. I would hope, if you revisit this for that modern workover, that you leave it in.

Again, Take care.
Aaron.

very cool V

The Piano Intro came after the creation of the song and is based on the ending cinders of the song where you may hear a whisper of the piano rift. It was my first attempt at a Piano based intro and by the end I was so emotionally into the piece I was jammin hard on the keys and slightly touched off that wrong note. So I will keep it there to remind me that we are all flawed. And that that's OK.

Your best yet. The piano sounds superb except for a small bit after 1:06. Sounds a lil out of tune. Loving the break down with the drums, the snare that hits every other bar or so is nice. I like that wave like pad after 5:15. Spaced out vibes. Would of also liked to hear a bit more done with the drums. Otherwise, really like this track, excellent job. peace

1:08 I am jammin all the keys with intense emotive expression, and yes................. I hit a wrong note...good ear. I am not a trained Pianist so this was new territory for me back in 2003. But I like that there is this fault in the composition. I may revisit this in a modern way so who knows what will come of the modern mix in the future. As Always thanks for your insight and appreciate the props.

Great track you got here Steve! The piano is so beautiful and the vocals in the back gives a hunting but beautiful feeling! Even though this song is an old one, it still has a new feel to it which means it was ahead of it's time when you first created it. Very cool and complex piece here! My favorite part has to be the avant garde styling of the piano in the intro, amazing use of intervals and the like to evoke a feeling! Very interesting synth sounds and samples you've used in here as well. Definitely one of the coolest chill out songs I've heard! Deep and thoughtful. Very good stereo field and frequency range throughout. Thank you for sharing this beauty! Fave and DL!

Thanks Spiv, No samples, just sequences and synths. I am happy you have liked this and grateful you acknowledge it. Avant Garde is in both of our souls sometimes and we both need to get it out from time to time.
Always appreciate your words.

If I could fly...something like this would be the accompaniment...gliding smoothly...then swooping up in the current...the special attractions of the landscape that grab the attention for a few moments....its a great trip Steve....wonderful mind pictures painted by one hell of a fine artist.....Ed (PS:your versatility is showing again)

Thank you Ed, I had a moment of artistic indulgence and I started to realize that my work around here may not be mainstream, but is a appreciated as a "Musicians musician". For that I am humbled and extremely grateful. Versatility is just my wanting to explore every nook and cranny of music. That curiosity keeps me going.

I like this one, a lot. It is a nice blend of elements. I don't want to take away from the creativity of it by any means, but it almost has an Angelo Badalamenti meets Ray Lynch meets Dead Can Dance vibe. That classic Crucethus duality between light and dark isn't quite as prominent in this one. I can hear bits of a darker undertone in some spots, but that may just be me. Mostly, though, it's just a good uplifting track. Like a leaf skating on the breeze. Nice work, man.

Take care.

Oh it's there just very subtle, but it's there.

Lots of cool packed into this one Cru. Love the big piano intro and how you transistion into the pads and arps there at 1:38. I was just about to drift into a nice chilled trance...ahhhh . Then WHAM ! You slapped me back into consciousness with that metal whip and bang thing! Very unexpected. Really sweet composition here though with some very interesting twists. I liked it.

Loving the intro. The piano and the melody are great.
I don't think I've heard you a chillout piece before and i'm enjoying it. There's plenty of ambience, some nice pads and trippy drumming with some excellent ride cymbals.
Well done

So this must be where R Kelly got his title for that annoying worldwide hit. Sue that fool for some big bucks!

Nice, big piano intro. Good sound and playing. Vocals are subtle and work fine.

I'm duty bound to say it and you'll probably tell me you can't hear it, but there's a big, big " pop at 1:24. An edit/sample switch no doubt.

1:38 and airy, wandering arps that I like. Not expecting this but I am expecting some stock house beats soon. Will they come?

Good introduction of whiplash clap.

2:27 shit gets a lot cooler with that killer ride. Reminds me a little of some d'n'b and jungle ride work. I should use something like that in my music.

2:41 lead pad sound is very beautiful. Nice, slow attack movement. Not a sound I've heard in your tracks before (I think).

I keep waiting for a big beat to drop in this. Maybe after the next drumless breakdown.

No, not really. Just kick work.

4:42 and you're getting on your kazoo for a bit.

I'm still waiting for a steadier, fatter beat to drop but instead it's some mysterious weirdness and pitch bending in this dreamy, lazy chill track.

6:43 and the piano's back as a sensible return to your starting point.

Overall: good work, good mix, good sounds etc. My only real suggestion is a steadier cooler beat after a while as this seems to be crying out for it. It can still be chilled out though I do also like the drum work you do have (otherwise I wouldn't say so).

Mega electro funk workout coming from me soon. A continuation of my track Reckful. Will probably be called Bright Side Of The Sun.

I have, but he threatened to pee on me, so I declined. (even though I am half German)

Nope I hear it, in future edits I will smooth it out.

" Nope they will not come in this song. so buckle up.

"2:27 shit gets a lot cooler with that killer ride. Reminds me a little of some d'n'b and jungle ride work. I should use something like that in my music."
I am thinking of breaking down the elements of this song as samples for this site so stay tuned!
"2:41 lead pad sound is very beautiful. Nice, slow attack movement. Not a sound I've heard in your tracks before (I think)."
That may be true.
" keep waiting for a big beat to drop in this. Maybe after the next drumless breakdown."
Nope not gonna happen in this tune
"4:42 and you're getting on your kazoo for a bit."
No Dum Dum (flinstones reference) http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71kiXjLfpoL._SL1500_.jpg
No Kazoos or Ducks were harmed in the processing of that sound which went through two synthesisers.

PSYCHE!!!

I love Coda's as a reference point in a song!
