WTF! Thats a killer f'n track man! Holy f'n shit! You guys are an awesome band! Wow, i'm really impressed bro. I had no idea you were on this level. After checking out the website I can tell I definitely need to pick up some of your albums. Andrea has a fabulous voice, lots of power and range, perfect for this type of music. I love this style of music and with Andrea at the mic it's a different sound from the older stuff. Very Amy Lee - Evanescence sounding. All the instruments are spot on tight. Extremely well played Guitar, drums, and the bass player killed it man! How long have you guys been together? Didn't see that reference on the website but its obvious you guys have been playing together for a while to be this tight. As far as any suggestions, my only thought would be to tweek the high eq on the vocal track a bit more, Andreas voice sounds a bit muffled in spots. I imagine the album version will take care of all that anyhow.
Great stuff mrwolf, best of luck to you guys. By all means let us know when this is available to purchase. Thanks for the preview and the look into your rehearsal room. That is super cool shit right there. Huge props and much thanks.
And thank for the input on Andrea's voice: I also believe that we should improve the quality here. She uses a wireless system from Shure (not sure about the model). She has a better model for concerts, but I think that the one we use regularly has too much "mids" and it gives her a nasal/muffled voice.
Well, I came to your page hoping for a recent addition, but instead for something which is new to me! This is very excellent, especially when taken as the end of side A! I like compact disc releases which are obviously intended to be on a more appropriate media such as record or cassette. It leaves it up to the listener to imagine the intended experience, but there is value in that as well. I liked every bit of this song, as it was out of the ordinary yet pleasant to hear. The title seems very appropriate, and at the same time it makes me think of the name of a reverb preset (ha ha). Very trippy drums throughout. Thanks for sharing this one! Fave!
Hi Spiv,
Thanks for your kind words... the title of the song is actually "strongly inspired" by the reverb preset name, good catch :-)
I have not been recording anything in the past months... simply too busy.
But I still enjoy listening to good music, this is why I still come back here at looperman.
Take care, Domenico
Hey, this is awesome! StaticNomad and those like him were just not there when the shit went down, so they cannot understand. This is so early nineties, and it's awesome. Makes me look forward to the cure live that I will see in June. We love the music you do, deep and wide. Heavy and heart-full. Love it! Faved!
Love that rhodes piano, then we get hit with that bass line. then the spaceman dirty blues guitar. I love the usage of this pella. So different from what I used in "House Witch" (which was a partial usage of the opening phrase. You bring out the emotion in a blues-psychedelic way with the voice in your arrangement. The sax and guitar answer session at 2:16 is momentous. I didn't want it to end so soon!
Ciao Steve
Hey MrWolf, nice work man! very cool spoken word piece, I like the live almost cavern feel you've created here it's almost minimalist in nature but has an ambience that floats those lyrics perfectly creating an excellent ambience....great composition with a strong message! cheers Dave
This is a cool jam, has a very 70's funky rock sound to the guitars etc. Quite jazzy too, nice! Love the groove, perfect song to wind down the evening with, well done! :)
Domenico, terrific work here. Bass line is just so solid, with that wonderful guitar work drifting nicely along with the bass. Definitely one that goes well with my morning coffee. Chilled to perfection on a crisp fall morning.
Beautiful work my friend. And Franco's always a great addition to any song. I hope all is well.
I love the emotion of this. I love the spoken word, but the musical arrangement is so good in this one. Perfect use of minimal bass and guitars. Bluesy and yet progressive. Awesome work my friend. Though Billy's Vox of utopia(paradise) lost is unrealistic to reality, (we are actually improving the Human condition not regressing) it's still a great listen.
Cru
Thanks for the kind words Cru.
Actually I also think that we are improving our condition, despite what a lot of people cry. I find it a bit strange: elder people are stating that 40 years back everything was better ... of course it was! they were 40 years younger!
Nevertheless I find Billy's poem on the idea of a "lost paradise" very romantic.
Hey there, this is very cool! I thought I hadn't seen a new song from you in a while, but did not realize it had been this long. All of the instruments really do jam with each other in this piece, something to be proud of! Your guitar is always pleasing to the ear, and the other parts are equally well performed. Like Cruce, I dig the reverb use on this one, subtle but effective. You are one of the most accomplished musicians around here, and I will patiently await your next song! Fave!
Thanks for the kind words Pat.
In the last months I am a "full-time" daddy, so there's not much space left for music. I still play (more or less) regularly with my "prog-rock-trio" project but recording music is (for me) a very time consuming activity which I can not pursue at the time.
Take care, Domenico
I only recently discovered PD's music, but when you throw your hat into the ring with him, well, then it's pure musical magic.
I loved everything about this one, from your guitar work, to your wonderful driving bass line, to PD's keys. There is nothing to critique here my friend. Massive props for a job really, really well done Domenico. Congratulations on the new addition to the family as well! It's a great thing and I know you are happy being busy with him.
Thanks a lot Bear; sorry for the late reply but in the last months I don't have much time and I am trying to spend all the time I can dedicate to looperman just listening to the music: we are really lucky to have many talented guys on this website ... and of course you are one of the most talented!
Take care, Domenico
Don't forget to clean your needle off when playing your records, he. Nice intro, I don't miss the crackling noise while listening to music these days unless it is an effect like here. Hey Domenico, hope you are well!
Billy Dragon's pella's are always interesting, he has his own style that stands out. I like the relaxed feel to the track, very 70's to me. The keys and guitar with the blues style drums set a neat tone and feel to the track. The vocals are not typical of this style of music but they work great. I like the guitar stabs, nice attack.
Hi Wayne, sorry for the huge delay.
Thanks a lot for listening to this track: this is the 1st track I have recorded using "looperman-material" and it's still one of my favorites.
So... kudos to our MrDragon!
Ciao, Domenico
First off have to echo thoughts from some other reviewers, this a very professional sounding piece that could be on radio...Vocals excellent...everything about the instrumental is spot on, no faults from here mate...love it...FV...peace n Respect...Mosaic...
Nice piece, great guitar, even nicer vocals, Farisha has one stunning voice, nice easy beat that works nicely with the guitar and vocals, great track, enjoyed the listen...Fav...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...
WOW what an outstanding piece, beautiful clarity/arrangement/the whole lot brilliant, this sounds like should on radio matey...Nothing more to add but admiration and respect...Hear some great stuff here when reviewing, occasionally one hits you being something special, and this is one of them....Made my night hearing this being the last track reviewing before bed...MASSIVE fav...Thank you...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...
Thanks a lot! I know I am no "real guitar player" but thanks for your kind words.
The little boy is keeping me very busy...but of course I am enjoying it.
Take care, Domenico
Oh hell yeah...just a great live feeling bit of music guys...You and Pat make great musical company Domenico...it has a little bit of the Allan Parsons feel with a good helping of rock and a dash of funk...comes together really nicely...O.K. take a bow boys...and do some more like this...fav from me....Ed
As usual Ed, your words are very appreciated (and you are very kind).
I have already some more key tracks from Pat: I hope to find some time soon to put together a new track. Unfortunately I am very busy, but his talent deserves the right amount of attention.
Thanks again!
Ciao, Domenico
Thanks for the kind words!
And considering that this collaboration crossed the oceans... capturing the live feeling was not an obvious thing :-)
You are too kind! Thanks again!
Wow man, excellent track! You definitely nailed the "live jam session" feel with this one. Nice, smooth and groovy. Really took me away, the way I remember tunes being back in the 70's, when you listened to music for hours and it swept you away! EXCELLENT JOB...well done!
Thanks MrSkinnyBoy,
Though I am too "young" to have experienced the 70s first hand, a lot of the music I hear comes from those years.
So, your words are highly appreciated!
Ciao, Domenico
nice keys. and guitars! I have no idea what 'clubbing' means here but thiat might be probably my favourite track from you MrWolf so far. Very very funky and so nicely performed. I really like funk bass in here. Good cooperation MrWolf and MrPDMuzak guys!
Very nice rock/fusion track.
Thanks a lot! All the credit goes to Pat: his work on the keys is really giving this short song a different meaning.
Ciao, Domenico
PS: with "clubbing" I was just referring to "spending time in a club".
To explain it better, please let me quote the "Urban Dictionary":
CLUBBING - A favourite activity of the moronic majority, this involves being shunted like cattle into a converted warehouse... sadly not to be slaughtered, but to wear ridiculous trendy clothes, listen to crap eardrum-shattering music, try to pick up brainless members of the opposite sex, and generally stand around aimlessly in a desperate but pointless attempt to show how cool you are.
A very well composed chill out piece you've made here! I really enjoyed the guitar work especially. The vocals were very well recorded, though not my favorite style... that is all personal preference though of course. A great sounding mix, and I think it could have a more chill out effect if the mastering were a bit more gentle. All in all a pleasant listening experience!
Hi Spiv,
Thanks for the comment.
I may have "over-compressed" this a bit: I tried to put together several different songs to build an album and of course it was hard to have all the tracks playing "as a whole" and not as a collection of separate tracks. I am no expert in this, so I may have overdone it in some spots.
And thanks also for the comment on the vocal line: I liked it a lot, but of course this is a personal preference. And you have all the right in the world to disagree :-)
sweet sweet reverb. I loved this one Domenico. it's spacey, jazzy, Carlos Alomarish guitar sounding in parts. Beautifully panned. A real Gem. The groove had me bobbin in the studio today. And the keys were cool. There was this low tone buzz sound that was stereo spaced that was quite cool as well. I loved that. Then the chords got all dissonant but in a very mathematical way. Super fine song, great sounds and well thought out and that ending into darkness was brilliant.
One hand hitting the other is the sound you should receive for such a great tune my friend.
Steve
Hi Cru,
Thanks for the comment: I have to admit that I don't know who Carlos Alomar is ... I just googled for it and of course I have heard his guitar: Young Americans and Station from Station are two of my all time favorites (actually everything from Bowie... really everything... I know I am a desperate case: I even liked the Thin Machine).
So, thanks again for the kind words!
