Hey there, I just discovered your tracks on looperman. I love the classic rock sound you have going on. You catch a vibe that I've been looking to find. I've listened to like 10 of your songs now and loved every one. Just my kind of music.

I wanted to get in contact with you because I noticed you don't have vocals for many of your tracks. I'm a singer (Amateur) and I would love to have permission to sing over some of your songs. I've been searching for almost a year for some instrumentals that match my voice as well as yours. My skill level doesn't match your musicianship but I feel I could come up with something worth listening to. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to my music but here's one of the songs I've written vocals for to get an idea of my voice. https://soundcloud.com/user-414706677/theblues. Thanks for your time!

Sorry, I am just getting to reply. Life has been busy. Feel free to help yourself. Let me know if you want the stems and if I can find the original masters I will render the stems for you. Thanks for the interest.

Wow, that's good VG, TV ! Great job on the vocals too. Good raw sound and does kind of have that late sixties early seventies hippy rock vibe to it. Lyrics are a bit OT with the baby stuff, but if Tommy James' baby did the Hanky Panky, why not ! I dig it bro !!

Thanks, Neo. Yeah, the lyrics need refinement for sure. I tend to always go for vocal melody 1st and then try and expand on lyrical content. Quite a few of my tracks that have vocals don't even have actual words, just sounds.
I have been trying to get more involved with Virtual Instruments. I suck at keyboard and MIDI arrangement but have been getting better. Thanks for the feedback.

Thick, heavy, raw. The reverb and effects soften it, I think that is good production. Sounds like you were going for it on the vocals, attitude comes across well in vocals. A bit trippy, psychedelic in a way. The track rocks.

My suggestion would be to work on the vocals and the delays on them, to make the initial impact of the words stronger. I love delay, prob my fav effect. I listened both on speakers and headphones, thought the vox could be louder, more out front.

Thanks for the listen and feedback Wayne. I agree with everything you brought up. Vocals need to be refined and brought up in the mix. I am still going through old hard drives looking for the master. All I have right now is a rendered mix of where I left off at. I hope I can track them down. Would love to try and polish this.

Thanks again.

I think this is a bit different offer than usual...a certain degree of departure from basic rough rock style...leaning to something more progressive, I think, and that's not bad by any means...on the contrary...it demonstrates ever evolving creativity of a musician as yourself. To me this was very rewarding listening experience. Keep up with good job my friend!

Thank you my Freind. Yeah I do tend to lean more towards rough Rock most times but I do occasionally get inspired but other genres. I even have a few Rap/ Hip-Hop tracks I am working on. Maybe someday they will get posted.
As always I appreciate the listen and feedback.

Hmm not to bad indeed. I dig it though. Indeed not sure about the vocals. But it doesnt sound to bad at all though. So no worries there. If i listen to the ingredients & elements of this track. It does sound like a solid modern rock tune to me though. So yeah overall point of view, you did a prety decent job there. So well done. Anyway keep up the good work. And keep on listening & creating. Cheers

@TopVega
I liked the feel of this. The guitar is my favorite part it sounds like several instrumental groups of the 50's for example Lonnie Mack. I think it could stand a break or some tangential excursions, but a vocal may be just he tonic for it. Good job, vig

Sounds good man! I like the mix the phased instrument and overall feel of the track. The electronic elements and effects to the song really add to the atmosphere and groove. It drives forward like a Queens of the Stone Age song. YUP!

I like it tv ! Is that a flanger or phase shifter effect on the guitar? Good start on another cool track. Would sound good to work in a lead and a key change or bridge would also help improve the structure.

Solid rockin' track tv and very much sounds like the Zep with Jimmy on his Les Paul. You can really play man ! Yeah I love your variations with the chords and finger picking combinations, sweep picking, hammer-ons, pull-offs etc. Very reminiscent of Pages playing style. Zeppelin was such a great band! Man listening to this I may have to get the Led out and go immerse myself. Love it tv, instant fave !

topvega replied 5th Oct 2017 - 8 years ago
Thanks, Neo. Yes, Zep is one of my all-time faves. The first 4 or 5 songs I taught myself on guitar were Zep. Stairway was the very first and then Black Dog followed by Rock and Roll. They basically got me into guitar and music in general. I appreciate the kind words.

Cheers.

Great guitar sound and skills mate it works well
And yeah get the drum less repetitive and bit stronger in the mix (more compression on the bass drum and snare) and the track will be top !

I dig the sticks in the intro.
Laid back groove with a nice rhythmic push and pull from the rhythm guitar.
What are you using for dirty leads through this?
I like the backing guitars growl and the drums seem to fit well. Good stuff.

It's funny you say that about the sticks intro. I have been going through old tracks I have left on my computer and I constantly felt like I need to revisit JamStix again for my drums. They have a certain realistic feel you just can't get with AD or EZ Drummer.
I pretty much use the same thing for all my guitar and bass sounds. Guitar Rig 5 I believe it is. Lots of great sounds in there.

Thanks for the listen and the feedback. Always much appreciated.

Super cool self-jam session here! I was happy to visit your profile and notice something uploaded this year!

I thought the guitar tones were pretty sweet, and your playing style was flowing and enticing as usual. I think you were born to make music like this!

I can't help but wonder about the title, as in if it was put in place before uploading, or if it had some long ago reference. It could mean different thing at different times to different people. I like that in a song!

thank you for sharing this!
topvega
topvega replied 16th Sep 2017 - 8 years ago
Hey, Spiv. Thanks for giving it a listen. I did upload it this year but it is an older project I found on my computer. This is the kind of music I kind of gravitate towards. Bluesy rock is what I was raised on. If I remember correctly the title came from the fact that I had been working on this track for awhile and it was a long time coming till it was completed.
I plan on uploading some newer stuff soon. I have been working on getting better at singing as I am constantly told my music works better with vocals. I don't know any singers so I have to try and get it done myself.

Thaks again.

Nice southern sound, lonestar music? I definitely dig the overall sound and you have some cool chops on that guitar. Some of the transitions seem less fluid though and that takes out some of the overall punch this has. Also i really think its the wrong snare drum on here, too high in sound, might be taste though. Keep it gritty, cheers man

Thanks brosef. I suck at drums and don't really know how to alter shit. I really need to get better at flushing things out and cleaning my tracks up. I tend to move on to the next song in my head.
