Valley of Giants, Well Doom I was not expecting that beautiful intro and then that kick arse beat. The strings in this are fantastic the double bass, you build some much tension and release it with a drop in to beautiful melody, great mix and sound production the outro a beautiful match to the intro, really good listen and fav
Yeah the bass in the strings part is pretty intense. I figured the frequencies in those ranged are often overlooked, shelved, or avoided in some way. It's unfortunate. There are no rules. It's what classical would've sounded like if they had amps.
Nice work - love the way it transitions and draws on different dramatic/ thematic elements in different parts of the tune - ends with some really gorgeous gentle melodic beats and especially just love the tone of it - magic.
I think I missed this one before - this is very cool, wonderfully quirky and complex and a joy to listen to and absolutely fantastic job on the sound production - quite a task getting so many disparate elements in sync but it is simply perfect in blend and balance. : )
I was the low man on the totem pole, even though I wrote it, and had to really step it up on sax and guitar.
I've been forcing myself to simplify, focusing on timbre and white space, which has dramatically increased my production speed (this project took maybe 6 hrs total).
Try the "Rick Rubin" approach for yourself, you may end up with more gratification than the long projects that have to be "perfect."
Hi.
So now i want to ask you for a second opinion about this track without vocal.
Mastering is still not my thing and i still dont know how i can make some sounds louder without overmudulation.
I didd give it a try with many filters and make it louder in audacity.
I want to ask if it can stay in this way.
Dont forget that im just a poor beginner lol
Thanks for your explanation.
That i was wondering why if i want to use hard sounds everything start to over-modulated.
I need to learn much about mastering pfff.
Have a nice day
Hey mate I did listen to this but it was late so never commented, and obviously forgot. Yeh , dam right this is you spot on with the dubstep, that's why I didn't comment while listening as usual I was doing a mean c3po bot, this is pure mental happiness it's everywhere the synths are so finely balanced with lazers I could well be in my own little space battle too, I've got to try something like this I've got lasers drones atonals pads side chains this is now something I need to have a go at not yet though time for another listen and dance first, the intro is f#cking bonkers, it's like my head at times I love it
If you want to use any of my stuff for any reason, just steal it... I do not care.
I know all about "bonkers." I'm not going to get into the details, but lets just say when someone asks me to not be so analytical, or logical, or "smart," I say "OK just tell me where to put the scalpel." I tried to break my mind as a teenager with chemicals, unsuccessfully.
If only I had addictive tendencies, alcoholism would solve all of this.
So, it's either musician or mad scientist super villain. We will let society decide... how convenient for me.
The intro is so cool.
Everything is so cool!!
You know ? I didd try this week to create something like this but i dont have enough sounds for it and dont know how to make basslines.
This is just awesome..really!!
Listen the 6 minutes with pleasure.
Well done mister
The trick is to level all the loops to about -6dB, otherwise the loops clip like crazy and ruin the master (this is a good rule for any loop really). Then I do a bunch of "wiring."
I tuned them all to the same relative keys as well (or a similar key variant), which can be tricky, and stretched them to time.
I can do sound design, but not in a time efficient manner. I'm a far better arranger/composer than anything else.
Paz y salud.
bringer, so this is proof there's really no bottom to the creative well you draw your ideas from. An interesting listen for me from the perspective of dynamics. The highs are astronomical and the lows are the Mariana Trench! Once again imaginative and clever since dubstep is not your first choice!
M.T.
Thanks really to the loops on this site (about 30 or so). Just search "drum" or "bass" as the keyword and "dubstep" as the genre. Tune, stretch, manipulate, chop, layer. I use my ear for key.
The mixing looks like a circulatory system, each capillary a loop chunk with its own fx chain (but really pretty systematic), each major intersection (bus) with its own FX chain, and multiband compression/saturation and chained compression on the master.
I've been experimenting with multiband compression and cabinet emulation quite a bit. My next two tracks (already done) will be long but very pleasant journeys (lofi/ambient influenced, with a hint of modern industrial); the antithesis of this.
thanks for the listen and comment, rather than worry about whether or not I am in my "comfort zone," I'm removing the concept from my mind altogether :D
cool, Artistic semi- Bro-Step. I wasn't sure if anyone was doing that anymore. I like how you don´t fixate on any one element too long. You made this creative. 3:02 had a moment of sane arpeggios, but it was just a tease. Technically well-done mate! respect on the mix! I even heard elements of 8 bit in this one. You really brought the kitchen sink to the party. You must really be bored to toy with us with this masterpiece ehh? Great job mate and a nice ending!
"You must really be bored to toy with us with this masterpiece..."
Nailed it.
I like "Artistic semi- Bro-Step." Yeah the sane arpeggios is a teaser. The US interpretation of the genre is generally a couple risers, a couple impacts, and the "drop" happens twice over a two min period in a predictable manner, without much variance.
I wanted to make something that had a little more variety, even if it is dubstep as hell.
I'm basically bouncing from genre to genre right now.
Yeah, nice dubstep. Really cool effects. The intro was really good. Great listen. Regarding titles, I'd be the wrong person. Always have a lot of trouble with that myself.
Thanks, it's all about 30 loops from right here. I just used some filters in my search and downloaded the first page or so of loops, tuned em all, leveled and arranged them, and mixed them with some experimental (to me) routing and mastering choices.
Bringer, where are you and Jynxz headed on Psychedelic Drive? Did you guys get pulled over by the funk police? You definitely made the trip. This is way too funky. It's interesting how you structured this arrangement from start to finish. You ground hard at the creativity mill as I heard you playing melodies on guitar from "Slices of Funk". Your sax is right on point and Jynxz's keys are a perfect fit. Awesome all around and yes I've favorited this funkyness! Be Safe
You are correct, I took "tiny jam," "slices of funk," and three of jynxz's incomplete tracks' (with and without stems) and transposed/arranged them into this, adding a bunch of things of course.
Some of my older stuff (more last year) is actually intentional song structure avoidance (lots of key/tempo/instrumentation change), or two or three movements with their own motifs, within a 3-5 min framework (the average listener gets bored in about 45 sec to 3 min anyway).
The sax tone is pretty brittle, but I never had much of a creamy vibrato anyway, and the music doesn't really call for it.
Gotta be careful making stuff with jynxz, between the two of us it can go all modern-day "zappa" pretty quick.
Salud y paz.
