Great tune Scott, this brings me back a few years! The horns in the original are unbelievable, you did a great job with this version. I'm always watching all kinds of music on you tube and I'm always finding myself listening to 70's music, there was so much great stuff then this one being quite memorable.
Wow...I dont listen to jazz a lot but this really kept me interested all track long. So many rythms and melodies mixed together without feeling forced. Really good job. Thanks for sharing!
I am not familiar with Return To Forever, but regardless I am enjoying this rendition very much! Quite cool in it's minimalism and composition. I don't listen to enough of the real fusion - jazz fusion. Very cool sounding mix, gentle and potent. Very expressive instrumental work here. Was this all performed on keyboards, or were other instruments used? Or maybe just precision sequencing? Either way, extremely good song! Fave!
The drums were done on my Alesis electronic drum kit. The drum sounds are good and a hell of allot easier than miking my acoustic kit. I can also get the different sounds needed like Latin and orchestral percussion.
Cool track very, very nicely done lots of feel here with flavour...
I think you've out done yourself with this one My Man...
This is truly worthy of being a CD cut, royalties would be in demand
but you could make some cash with tunes done to detail like this...
that is some great keyboard work Scott..like the stand-up bass..I`m not familiar with the original but I certainly can hear the amount of detailed and talented work that went into this mix...I could get into this style very easily (even though I haven`t been exposed to much of it in the past...its the kind of music that seems to draw your attention to each instrument as it does it part...great job on this Scott...much respect....Ed
Thanks so much, Ed. I appreciate all your kind words and glad you like it. Since you like it, maybe you would like to check out more. Here's the whole album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoPyLJTN7ss It is fantastic and my track is nowheres near as good.
Thanks, glad you like it. Here's the full album if you want to check it out. It's some pretty intricate stuff played by some masters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoPyLJTN7ss
No, I had some help with some of the tracks. Wish I had the ability to play all tracks, but not in this lifetime.
I can imagine this must have been a big challenge...such an intricate classical composition, but my ears and senses are telling me you did it with excellence....very admirable work!
Soooo sorry for not getting back sooner. Not sure how I missed you, but my apologies.
Anyway, thanks so much for your comment. Yeah, this one was a bit tricky with the odd time signature, but if you just stay with what you are comfortable with, you don't get better, so the challenge was good.
Absolutely pleasing soft rock track to listen. Very solid instrumentation and some very nice effects used on the vocals!
Well done...keep up good work!
Nice track. My only comment is the lead guitar needs just a little more re verb. It sound way to dry. Other than that great I like the strings and orch stuff.
This was better than expected! Great vocal character and positive lyrics. I also like the changes, helps to break it up.
The only suggestion I can muster is I felt the vocal panning was too extreme from left to right. Not a big complaint at all. I still really dig this track.
Thanks allot for chiming in, my friend. Yeah, I used the surround effect on just that ambient vocal track. I didn't (and usually don't) pan the main vocals or bass tracks on my songs. I thought that vocal intro would give it an interesting effect going from one speaker to the other.
How are you, my friend? Thanks so much for hitting me up with your kind words.
This is a bit different for me, so I wasn't too sure how it would go over. I found these vocal loops and they appealed to me, so thought I'd try to work the music around them. I love orchestral music so thought I could also work some in along with a favorite instrument, the mellotron.
this is some really enjoyable tune, not really a proper 'song' that much for me but just a nice combination of different short instrumental solo sections and that is perfectly fine!
I find the bass line and the keys really inspiring. to me funk styles will always sound modern - they are a true source for a great amount of contemporary music.
I will check out the bands you mentioned, thanks for some nice inspiration.
Wow really nice track. Brings back good memories, and when you said Unfortunately, this music is lost on today's artists. I am a little lost in this since I do not hear music in today's artists.
I think Soundhound and I am on the same page also.
Glad you like it and took time to comment. I agree...I seem to dwell in the past, musically, since I just can't find anything in today's music worth listening to.
Hope things are going well. We have corresponded in awhile.
You are right Scott...
This style has gone by the wayside, like Classical... :) the bone yard
is full of good music, that this generation will never understand...
They have dumb down the music playing tools, so the don't have
to think...Just Drag and Drop...They don't need to play anything
anymore, there is really no work involved " No Talent Needed " to
become a Star or so they think...
Back in the day, if you couldn't play it there was no instrument
that would say it for you...
If we had these tools back then, and did things the way we did
Man...The whole game would have been different, it cost me a
small fortune to do the tracks I did back then...
You've done Motown some Justice with this track...
Nice 1...My Man...
Thanks allot, TG. Your comment of doing justice to Motown means allot! You're right, the kids today just don't get it. Unless you go to an oldies show or listen to an oldies station, you can't hear it. I knew there was something strange when a guy scratching records on stage was considered a musician. In the early days, scratching records was considered noise. Now it's considered music and a turntable is considered an instrument! Oh well.
Oh yes...it is funk...and not just that, it's a sensational
one! Due to lack of time I won't go into details but this is as inspiring and powerful as it gets! Faved for sure!
But you are playing this music Scott, fortunatelly (o.k. you are not tody's guy...:-)
Sensational groovy based music with your innovative drum...tha bass is more than good...that part from 3.03: the drum, bass duel is outstanding...
Yes, I create what I love, so even though I reach back to the past for inspiration, I always hope other fine musicians, like yourself, can still appreciate it. Try as I might, I just can't find inspiration in today's music, unless it's jazz.

Incredible soft-rock with that violin...:-)
Voice, guitar and the groovy are from your best...
When I listened to your track, a Hungarian song flashed in...donno why? probably the same hopeful moments and feelings...:-)
