I think there needs to be a special genre here - "rei4real music."
You continually transcend genres with your creations. There are the identifiable elements, but this could be classified in many different genres and each would be equally as valid.
On several occasions in the forums I've written that music is an emotional language. You take it to a new level, as it's really emotional aggregates you bring forth. Like poetry in abstract/logical language, you're able to convey more in a single melody phrase than should be possible with the notes involved. If it were medicine, I'd call it a type of synergy - where the sum total exceeds the elements involved.
Rei, my friend, I'm so glad you've returned to this community. It's a true honor sharing this space with you. Added to personal favorites.
haha ... well, if I should get my own genre, then you would deserve to get your own "featured reviewers box" together with planetjazzbass ... your reviews are always a pleasure to read!!
thousand thx Sean!!
Really good stuff wow, I regret I didn't hear your first draft to compare to. Thank Eshar for the heads up on this! The crisp production really makes this stand out.
hey...really a nice one...i listen a second time to it...
and i would really like to offer this one to my new friend KeMo...
he could do some german rap...and i have a vocal melody in mind...
but there is one thing i would like to have...could you do a mix with turning down the bell melody a bit...all the rest is just perfect...then send me the new mix :)
great track...great sounds...i like the guitar much :)
ich würde mich seeeeeehr freuen :))))))
keep it up man :)
cheers...JW...
das klingt schon sehr interessant, ich denk mal drüber nach ... soweit ich mich erinnere hab ich vor kurzem einen track von dir mit KeMo gehört ... ich meld mich per mail!!
peace, rei
You know, I've played around a bit with Hydrogen and suspected that in the right hands it would be more than adequate.
Your musical sensibilities are really great, and made even better that you've got the skills to implement them! The arrangement here is spot on, and if I was mixing this I don't think I would have done anything differently. The levels of everything are perfect!
What I love the most is how you've captured both the spirit and sound of olde skool funk, but dynamically jacked it into this century. That's truly amazing. Add my name to the list of favorites here!
hey man, thx for grabbing this old tune out ... I haven't listened to it for a pretty long time, and I'm surprised that I still like it ... like you said, there's nothing I want to change (which isn't usually the case if I listen to old tracks of mine ... lol)
thank you!!
peace, rei
So nice Rei, I always appreciate you describing where your inspiration comes from. It helps put the listener in the right head space. Peace to you Rei. Talent doesn't escape you man. I use lots of your loops. Thanks for that.
Take care Rei.
Gord
I think a good description is important when you are doing instrumentals, more than for vocal tracks, because it can make the message clearer ... or you produce a video to a track, that also works, but a good description is cheaper ... lol
thx a lot for taking the time Gord, it's always a pleasure to get a review from you!!!
Don't you like finding an old unfinished track, polishing it off and it turns into a great piece of work ? I love it when that happens...it's like finding a treasure. Well I am glad you found the old folder on this one because it should have never have been missed. The groove is bangin....guitar driving rhythm. Man your chords are so cleanly executed...I love it ans the solo work is fantastic as always. I don't know how I missed this gem but it was a real treat. Cheers Rei ! - Bilbozo
thx Bill ... but I'm pretty sure you left a review when I uploaded this track before, it just got lost with deleting your account ...
anyway, I'm happy that you found it again ... and more happy that you still like it ... lol
Nice Jazz track here guy, iam a big fan of easy listening jazz, you got a nice thing going there with kool catchy melody.Overall Unique also in the smooth jazz vain!
thx a lot for taking the time!! well appreciated ... ;-)
I like Jazz too, but I'm afraid I'm simply not able to do more than easy listening stuff ...
peace, rei
Together, you two put together a beautiful jazz piece. nice use of piano there to compliment the guitar. Seamless transitions, pretty little bells (not sure what instrument, but nice). Man, it all works together, this track is awesome.
Ultimate compliment (I'm downloading it). oh and I'll fav as well lol ;-)
I hear another nmasterpiece here! Elaine's voice sounds just like that one young girl in the 'Mad Max' movie...where at the end she is telling a bunch of kids a story about the future. Very nice indeed.
Your playing and arrangement is very good. Let me know when you get an album together, I'll buy it.
thx Randy!!
someone mentioned before Elaine should record an audio book, I think this would be a great thing for her ...
and you'll be one of the first to know when my album will be ready for the stores ... ;-)
peace, rei
Oh yeah...you still got it. I love the heavy overall sound and bottom bass. When I also sometimes played bass in my band, it wasn't good until the sound waves moved your pant legs.. ha ha.
So this is one of your best songs I've heard to date. I like it alot....so keep 'em coming.
this track was pure fun to create, and it was just an experiment ... but maybe I should try to do more of this ...
about the vocals ... if you feel inspired by one or two of my tracks I want to invite to do some vocals!! I can imagine that you would come up with something really good ... think about it!!
thx for taking the time and listen to some of my older stuff!!!
peace, rei
well, it's a mix of both ...
usually I use up to 5 different guitar tracks only for the rhythm section of a track, sometimes even more ... and sometimes I record the same riff two times with different sounds and pan them left and right, or mix them together to one track ...
to be honest I don't remember atm what exactly I did when I recorded this track, but I'm pretty sure I did a little of everything ... lol
thx for your review man, well appreciated!!
yep, you're right!! Elaine's vocals are indeed perfect, so it was pretty easy to use them ... ;-)
thx for taking the time John, always appreciated!!
peace, rei
I was playing around with some vsti's, so it was more experimenting than writing, but it turned out pretty well ... ;-)
thx again for taking the time ...
peace, rei
well, I guess this one's good as it is ...
and yes, I try to do many different things and styles, keeps my music fresh ... at least I hope so ... lol
