on Dark House by Mokeone
This one is very good, but I agree with Red. It ins't quite House. The drums are either Jungle or Breakbeat. The Bass are kinda Dance or EDM (in a Bossanova sorta way) and the leads are Electro or Tracey (in a subdued, Dreamgate sorta way).

I really love it's overall composition because everything is so upbeat it gives this an added energy.

If you wanna make a House track just remember a few things/tricks...

Drums- The more basic the better and be sure that they have a heavy emphasis on the kicks, the hi-hat, and a third (like a clap or cowbell)

Bass- Usually mimics the drums with a basic theme (but sometimes its cool to lace other aspects into it, like an additional channel of just a flowing up and down, humming tone). Think of the kick as Boom and the bass as Bum and try to have them interlace on another like Boom, bum, boom, bum or bum bum bum, boom, bum bum bum, boom.

Once you have these two the rest just kinda falls into place easily. This is where you start to picture what the song so far reminds you of genre-wise with other stuff (like does it remind you of Latin America and Salsa-type stuff or does it seem darker and grittier, where Urban or Industrial styles would serve it best).

It's also keen to keep in mind House's roots and how it sounded in it's infancy. So giving it a soulful, retro, or disco feel adds to it's appeal/flair.

Sorry for that long ass lecture thingy. I really like this tune man. May even D/L it. Lates!

on Wadda Ya Call It by Mokeone
This is the second track that I've heard in which you've used stuff from that site you mentioned. I do believe I will now haveta go n check it out (and later try to produce my own track from it and then feature the link on my ADHD page).

Which also reminds me of something (at around the 1:30 mark). I've got a loop that I think you'd really like (and might just be a nice fit there) entitled 'Sark Steps' that I needta upload on here after this.

I might haveta download this and add it to my Looperman collection. Thanx bud!

KIIIIIILLLLLLL! Assimilation is not an option, lol.

This one reminds me of a wicked blend of Gravity Kills and KMFDM. The only thing that would make this track any sweeter would be the addition of vocals (a girl with attitude or a guy with supressed anger, kinda like the chicks from Kitty or Hard Knox or the guys from Staind or Type-0 Negative). I might haveta forward this to my buddy DJ Minox coz I think he'd really dig it. Lates!

Kool, Mr.DV. Go ahead and pass it around. Do you know anyone that would want/be able to put lyrics on this? (I Love Type-O Neg. Deathly sweet.) Thanks for listening & all the great reviews. aka Bill

The beauty of creation comes about through sheer mistake and from a lack of insight. The female vocal samples kinda remind me of the first music prog I messed with (not MM7).

It's pretty nice for being your first one. Very structured and organized. There is some flightiness, but it ties together well. Thanks for sharing this with us mate. Cheers!

That's the first thing that came to mind upon hearing the opening leads and pads. As you said, very dark and I could imagine someone in a room of mirrors surrounded by a bunch of things that go bump in the night.

I could see this one scoring a thriller or suspense film. Kinda like A Clockwork Orange meets Halloween takes on House of Wax and Resident Evil something or other. C-c-creepy!

on Island Fun by Mokeone
Make a sister track for this one too. So far I like what I'm hearin (and since I'm a big fan of drums and island sounds this is perfect). The synth sounds like a mix between old Michael Jackson and Disney show themes from the late 80's. Haha, sorry!

If I do make a spin off I'll prolly try to keep the same percussion vibe, but will switch the snyth stuff to bass. Rawk on!

Thanks for the review. I mix genres all the time since I don't know just what makes one or the other different. Do you know where I can find good descriptions of what makes a track one thing or another?

The way people on this site come together. Of the loop sites I've been to this one has the best community of all. In which brilliance like this is spawned through the linkage of like-minded musicians and where their mastery is bridged to create smarter sounds!

on Eastern Thumper by Mokeone
Where the beat goes BOOM bidi bidi bidi bidi boom tis tish tasha. Hahaha, sorry. This one is superbly ethno-centric and somewhat mix-matched between various regions. The drum sounds somewhat Eastern European (in a Waltzy sorta way) while the Sitar sounds more Arabic then Hindi. Nice hybrid ya made here!

Boomers, Cocktails & Diamonds, The Arena...

For yer request, step 1- go to Jacksonville, NC. step 2- scope the killer local metal/rock scene. step 3- find a band to collab with. step 4- set up a gig at any 1 of the number of cool establishments for 'em there. step 5- play, wow, and enjoy!

on Is There Hope by Mokeone
Was the intent of the mixers and musicians while they threw this together.

This track kinda reminds me of the scores for certain action arcade games of yesteryear. Namely FPS's and starfighter sims. Kinda like there's a large unknown force approaching with hostile intent and our side has to assemble to fight 'em off with loads of laser beams and power-ups. Rawk on mate, rawk on!

This is very very cool... I love how the beat kinda weaves in and out, getting heavier... and the sitar was a great touch. Enjoyed this very much! ~Lisa

on Going Wild by Mokeone
kick ass track...first metal track ive heard here....it would sound really good with vocals...about being performed live it would definitely sound good...if i was playing it live the only thing i would change would be the drums...dont get me wrong they sound great but since im a drummer it would be cool to put something complicated with those guitars

Thanks for the review. I got a couple other metal bits here you might like too. If you'd like to play with this, I'll cut out the drums & send you an mp3 of the guits only. You can put on vocals & drums. Cut it up if you want. A crazy drum solo would be cool. Let me know if you're interested or not. Later dude.
