Well i had listened to both of the other versions before heading hear. and i got to say im glad i saved this one for last. super plesant suprise how differnt this one is. super contrasting but really seems to tie the three toghether nicely. i am very glad to have taken that trip. Awesome production freind, brilliant concept! great stuff! Bless!
For me... the one thing that's really cool about reading reviews isn't someones critique on production or the mix and master. It has to be how other people relate and interpret the music. That's priceless. Thanks Arkeyetexture for the review and kind words.
Dude... it just sounds good... I think. I do have another version of this track that I found in the closet... that's a little more polished and extended. All the original data was lost. I'm happy that you dig the track bro. thanks.
This is one smooth track! As has been said, the strings sound really good! I like how the glitches and the guitar sort of take turns! Awesome drum beats too! This definitely belongs in a movie!
Dude... to this day, this is still one of my ultimate favorites.. period. I've always been a sucker for strings and horns. The way the two work together, though quite repetitive..is pretty cool. Thanks for the listen.
I listened to this after seeing Nomad's post in the forums and was blown away by the song(s) as a whole. The title alone makes me wonder. In the context of the track I to get a political vibe. Not a menacing form of dissent, more of a frustration or bleak view. Sonically the whole track is great. The rapid percs mixed with that heavy kick create a cool rush feel. Makes for some great imagery. I'm wondering what that low end sound is. Didgeridoo or a bull roarer. Very unique sound though. Cheer's on a great track and collaboration :D
N0mad23 supplied the yes... bull roarer and it fit really nicely. And honestly, the sound I was looking for took me in this direction and kinda by surprise. Thanks for the ear.
Can never get sick of this beat man...again this gets me moving, the breakdowns are neat to me and in the 'Now' after finding out the order of the tracks the outro of this piece seems perfect for the introduction into Ham radio...each track almost a prelude into the next and it works for me...great work with melding the percussions..the ambience make the track wide opening listening also.
Thanks again for the collab and so glad you accepted the offer of doing so....dabbling with the Mardi Gras vibe and fusing the African percussion with your Apache drums seems distant now and the way it has evolved since then has been a treat to witness.
Dude... it turned out pretty good. I appreciate the work you've put into this collaboration as well. I believe that all three were influenced by the ground work YOU laid down. From some stuff sitting in the closet into three..count em'..three great variants of the the same formula. This collab has introduced me to a different way to not only hear but listen to the music as well. Not to be braggadocios... but I believe we all did right by the music. Glad you dig the track bro. THAT'S what's up.
some great ideas here brother... you set the sound scape up well...for me theres a few things amybe fx that could have been add to give it more texture and more interesting to listen all the way through... the production is good...all the elements work well together...really make you feel the track...nice...keep 'em coming brother
The saying goes.. a song is never finished... only abandoned. I understand what you mean about the possible addition of things FX wise to the track. But I think that the track sits nicely. Didn't want to overload and make it to heavy with much more going on. Good ear though. Thanks for the review and the listen.
First, this had to be a beast to mix because of all the elements you have going on.....you have something occupying just about every frequency. Unbelievable how well balanced this is.
I like music that makes me think. This did just that.
I'm intrigued with this project - it certainly has three really talented people working on it.
Well done. I'm off to "view" the next panel of the painting.
Actually... it took less time than I had originally thought it would. As far as the music making you think... that's cool. It's layered with so many angles, that everyone is bound to visualize something and/or feel a certain vibe. Thanks for the review and the listen.
Instantly faved. I really love how resolution (interpretation) lies with the audience in this piece.
On one hand, I can hear "Action Figure" as a sort of sonic fetish - one that can be used by either the defender or aggressor as gris-gris for aggressive action. Who needs bullet proof jackets when you've got sonic protection? Behind this is a kind of "reality" that's completely ambivalent to the short term actions of the human agents. Geological time prevails.
Amazing how you've fused so many musical traditions in this piece.
I'm kinda digging your insight on music mate. The way you can feel the music is great and shows the depth and love you have dancing with it. And I'm glad you really dig the track bro. Three of three... right? Thanks for the review N0mad23!
Its cool that you liked the track. The flutes were made by Salook. I manipulated them with audacity and g snap. Came out pretty good. Thanks for the ear bro.
a v effective mix - makes me think of malik's 'thin red line' in terms of cinematic juxtaposition - nature/beauty vs war/horror - wrenching, much respect
That's what's up. What I really dig about the track is the contrast. How much can be symbolized and balanced depends the listener. But most of all... I think it all came together kind of cool.
You have two great producers that you chose to work with, I recognise the music from their great tracks. The bird at the beginning of the song reminds me of when I kayak, I always hear that bird call, ha. Mix sounds pretty good and I love the sound of the bull roarers, nice job on this one.
Sad statement about the site (double edged sword maybe?) - 300825 current members, and I only discover this song a year after it's been posted.
This is very, very cool work. The contrast between the glitchiness and the vocals is really surprising, and works incredibly well. I think it reflects the title somehow - the scattered and fragmented thoughts accompanying mourning. But it carries a kind of sonic optimism too, doesn't it? Amazing.
Thanks for the ear mate. I'm glad that you dig it. More so.. love that you get it. In mourning, ones environment is fractured. Slow is the process of "picking up the pieces". Sometimes though..the pieces don't fit... you never get over it but only get through it by making the pieces fit. Not having the chance for closure only complicates everything and makes the process even harder to deal with. What's missing though is a better mix and master on this one. I did plan on working on it... but decided against it. It's better left as one of those moments.
I see why you don't get tired of this one! It's the internal "Spirit" of the thing you've captured, a kind of timeless sound that First Nations people would have found as familiar as Celts at the same time. Yet it still is absolutely contemporary at the same time.
That's not easy to do.
I actually really dig the repetition of the percussion - it's one of those things that you can loop and shuffle dance to for long periods of time.
Very, very nice and a real motivation to check out more of your offerings. Thanks.
Awesome track. Kinda reminds me of Noah's Ark or something like that. Wonderful feeling track. I could def hear something like this in a future movie score.
Thanks John for the words. As far as adding vocals....a song is never really completed...just abandoned..lol The only plans I have for this track is a better mix and master. If you have some ideas for some vocals..I'd love to hear.
I really enjoy cinematic pieces. Have u ever thought about making music for movies and thing. U would be very good at that. I recently just been looking into it, and u can make quite a bit of money. I know alot of people dont pay attention to music in movies, but us musicians do and really the music makes the movie scene. Have u ever muted the scary scene and tried to watch it? LOL it's not scary anymore. Anyways, just a thought. Great wrk.
That's what's up Becca. Your right about the cinematic value of a movie score. Soundtracks are meant to accentuate the tone of the movie...but more and more now a days..its there to hide many holes, inadequacies and bad acting. Its funny you should mention making music for the movies though. My dream is to win an Oscar for best original Soundtrack. As always...thanks for the listen and appreciated review.
I really enjoyed this. When those strings came in I melted. I absolutely love the vibe of this track. Its beautiful. U did such a great job on this. I really can tell u put alot of thought and emotions into ur work. Another fav
This is a beautiful track. The title had me very curious. The vocals r beautiful, and the sounds are amazing. I really enjoyed listening to this, definately going on favs.
