Great version of a classic. I used to have an lp of a women called Julie Driscoll singing season of the witch, loved that song but never knew it was written by Donovan. Anyway nice work man.
Ha! I was wondering if I'd get a comment on the choo choo line. Fun to sneak something like that in a song, gets the kids interested in riding the rails.
So cool to hear a new song from you my friend! Leave it to you to make some real authentic folk, with all the pleasure intact! That guitar sounds really nice, sounds like you are experimenting with your mic placement, and it's working! Really good to hear your work again! Favorite for sure!
Yeah, I might have found a sweet spot, I just recorded it again and got a nice level and tone. I had it mixed with some drums and vocals and they were fitting in the mix better.
I stop by your place when I want to hear some of the real stuff...straight up down to earth music. never stop Wayne..always enjoy a listen here...well done again man...(cool lyrics too by the way)
Thanks! I bought a Martin D 10 Sapele(mahogany) acoustic guitar last year and have been moving the mic around to see where it records the best and I tried a different placement on this track and am happier with the sound. Plus the guitar is starting to warm up a bit more, starting to age a bit, getting it's individual tone. It was a bit mid-rangy when I first got it, gonna age nicely I think. Always loved the sound of those old Martin dark mahogany guitars.
Hey Wayne, is that the COVID free train, I'm at the platform waiting to hop on board, simply great track, your voice and guitar spell folk. Happy New Year mate always a pleasure to listen
Hey Wayne - well this is close enough to the goats for me!
Your voice is just perfect on this one and lets not mention the guitar and cool lyrics to boot : )
Great track - fun lyric and very fun, but cool and classy arrangement

IF you dont already know it check out The Mountain Goats 2015 album beat the champ - all inspired by wrestling
In my view their entire catalogue is worth checking out - and Ive seen the band live 3 times too (great)
As always very well wrote Wayne, very funny, laughing at this, so much character, just like wrestling, I have friends who are both pro cage fighters, UFC and Bellator, love the fight game all styles, tough boys step in the ring. And yep I watched wrestling as a kid, the English stuff though absolutely hilarious, big daddy, giant haystacks, kendo nagasackie, Mick macmanass. These where household names in the 70s uk,started Saturday early evening after the football results. I can't believe forty fifty years later their names just roll of my tongue, thanks for the memory jog :)))
It's pretty funny the things you remember from being young, wrestling was part of my youth. I grew out of it when the real world of working for a living kicked in. Hulk Hogan, Bruno Samartino, Bob Backlin.... memories! lol
Pista poderosa amigo Wayne, me gusta como suena, hasta los coros están en su punto. Tiene sensación de tocar en vivo, lo que me encanta. Gran final desvaneciéndose con la voz. Que tengas una buena noche compañero. Paz y salud.
A fun track you created here, Wayne! I used to watch wrestling all the time, strangely enough, I don't remember a Sgt. Slaughter, but yet I remember the signature move. This track is making me want to get back into now. Great track. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.
Thanks, I grew out of it as I became a young adult but one of my brothers used to go to the live events all the time, real fanatical about it.
Here is a quick clip of Sgt. Slaughter demonstrating the Cobra Clutch in a radio studio on one of the announcers. Maybe this will help you remember him.
Wayne, this is a fun track. It is well made, sounds good and the lyrics are just hilarious. You say you wrote them yourself?
You know, as kids, my brother and I also used to watch WWF wrestling on the weekends. If I remember correctly it was after the morning cartoons. Wow what a throwback. =D
The lyrics are pretty funny, well, generally speaking wrestling was a hoot. It was wrestling for an hour, maybe 2 if we were lucky then it was the WLVI Channel 56(out of Boston) Creature Double feature which was 2 B rated horror films.
These were the good old days when you spent more time adjusting the antenna's to get better reception than watching the program.
I really liked this tune Wayne. Instruments sound great and the story is very entertaining. Nice vocals. The whole song was great. Sounds like blues to me tho, has that flavor to it.
Do you still splice fiber optic? =)
Paz y salud.
Your vocal sound always fits your music. I have high respect for musicians that understand how to use their gift of music. Great story and track. PEACE. T576 OUT.
Thanks but my voice isn't a gift, unless you consider those prank gifts you give to tease someone.
I don't really have a lead vocal kind of voice so I make it rough sounding so it doesn't sound like Barry Manilow and bore people. I wouldn't sing like this if I was singing in a chorus for example. It is what it is.

I love this track. It sounds like you are
right here in the room. To me, the Mastering
is off the charts.
Great track. Faved.
PEACE...
It's not technically mastered but I get what you are saying. Been working on gain staging lately, been helping with the clarity of the tracks.
Be safe, Happy New Year!

I'm not sure what else I could've done to add to it so it became a short song.
Stay safe.

I've been working on gain staging lately, getting the individual track to a proper volume basically. It's been making a positive difference.

A large majority of rock songs use a blues progression like I did here. There is a blues feel in that regard.
No, I don't splice fiber optics anymore, I am retired.
