what i mean by writing "chris spedding"?
i apologize but it will be easier for me to copy paste informations about Chris spedding from wikipedia :) i thought you knew him lol
Christopher John "Chris" Spedding (born Peter Robinson, 17 June 1944)[1] is an English musician, singer, guitarist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and record producer. In a career spanning more than 40 years, Spedding is best known for his studio session work. By the early 1970s, he had become one of the most sought-after session guitarists in England. Spedding has played on and produced many albums and singles. He has also been a member of eleven rock bands: The Battered Ornaments, Frank Ricotti Quartet, King Mob, Mike Batt and Friends, Necessaries, Nucleus, Ricky Norton, Sharks, Trigger, and The Wombles.
AllMusic has described Spedding as "one of the UK's most versatile session guitarists, [he] has had a long career on two continents that saw him tackle nearly every style of rock and roll, as well as sporadically attempting a solo career. The fact that he never quite broke through to stardom, except in his native England and parts of Europe, and in professional music circles, is more a result of bad timing and worse luck than any lack of talent or commitment on his part."[1]
Spedding pursued a solo career and released his debut album Songs Without Words in 1970. Since then, he has released fourteen studio albums, and two live albums. His solo albums have met no success, failing to chart anywhere, while his only single to chart was "Motor Bikin'"
Hello Wayne,
Wonderful Rock Track mate.
I do love the vocal mate, also please give Jimbo my very best for his outstanding work in this track.
Great track well done to both of you mate.

Thanks jamid! I will let Jimbo know. We will be doing more songs together, I have a few songs arranged and hope to do some recording soon so you'll hear more from him.
Absolutely refreshing to hear something like this... very welcoming collab...rough and straightforward in best of ways. Besides, it's very nice to hear you in excellent vocal form which makes very strong element of the tune...man you can sing really well! Thumbs up!:)
Hiya Leon! Jim has the ability to play the rhythm and lead parts at the same time and the little tasty crunches between the phrasing, I think, adds to the whole way he plays. I asked him to give me separate rhythm and lead tracks too and with the bunch of tracks he game me I had way more than enough material to make something.
The vox I just went for, I'm not a lead singer, more a backup singer. But it's fun to belt it out so why not throw some singing down, it is what it is, ha!
I would guess Jim is playing a Tele...got that nice combination of twang & rock bite...Really nice job on the vocal Wayne...its one of those good for the soul rock songs...feels like a comfortable blanket to this ol boy...yeah...ain`t the politicians of the day real winners...tempted to laugh at the daily gong show but its too sad to think of where it leads...all round great bit of music my friend....well done...Ed
I think he was playing a Tele Squire through a Fender Bassbreaker amp so good ears Ed! Yeah, our great Leader....
Oh well, it sure makes life interesting. A good sense of humor is needed during such times. lol
Thanks for listening in. Straight up rock and roll, an old pair of shoes, comfy blanket.....yup.
Hi Wayne,
Good to hear something so "fresh"!
I like this song a lot: it has some touches of the Clash of the beginnings (Give'Em/London), specially your voice and the rhythm section: Clash never had such a great solo guitar player :-)
Good work on the bass ... and I would never believe that these drums are programmed: they sound so "live".
Again... well done!
Ciao, Domenico
Thanks Domenico, Jim and I both love the Clash! Yeah, Jim's guitar playing eclipses anything Mick Jones could do. And when he can play the frets off a guitar(and stand up bass too)why not feature him? I'm certainly not a lead singer so his playing needs to stand out.
I do a lot of chopping up of the drum midi files and notes to get a good enough variety of fills and interesting bits. I am able to separate the drums into 8 individual tracks in Ableton which allows for more options when it comes to editing and mixing the drums. EZ Drummer is adequate for me, it's midi of actual drummers playing live.
As i wrote you this afternoon there's something from Chris spedding in this track.
The guitar lead make the job, it drives the track during all the duration, Let there be rock :)
It smells true, it sounds true! everything you want to hear from a band!
Hey Bleep! Chris isn't on this track, I sing on this one. And I'm not sure what you mean by "spedding", that is not familiar to me.
Thanks again for stopping by! This one is all about Jim's guitar which really set the tone for this one, it's his musical idea but lately he's been a musical juggernaut! I hope to record some of Jim's own songs in the future and also have him help on a few of mine as well.
i will comme back later to listen to your track again and completely! now, i apologize but i need to go back to work lol
sure, first impression, there's something of chris spedding in your voice and in the global render! i really like what i started to listen (until 02:00)
this evening i will post a complete comment about my feeling and thanks for your comment on my track ;) i will answer you too this evening (in france)
Good to see someone who has been here longer than me!
There is a lot to clean up, the mix isn't perfect and neither is the playing. If I spent a week or so arranging it and composing some better parts it could come together.
The track has a nice flow to it. I think it has a very wide range of vocals that would fit to this track. the mix is good and ready to explore the deep ocean sea!
Nice and cool surfing jam Wayne...well,... sharks - those beautiful yet deadly creatures would abandon a thought to attack you hearing this....I bet they would ask for more...:)
Thanks man! It's just something to mix, nothing special really.
It makes me nervous getting into the water, floating around and swimming against the tides. Sometimes you see bait fish around you and that's when I get the heck onto the beach, something's chasing them around. I know they satellite track a few great white sharks that have been tagged and swim about 20 miles off shore, up and down the coast.
DBT were on a Tiny Desk Concert podcast a little while ago. I do like their music, good story songs.
Been working on instrument sound quality lately, now that I can hear things better I need to make some more adjustments, things are slowly getting better, hopefully.
Blood and death seem to be the request of the day for this track. Can't say I was thinking of doing vocals for this one but stranger things have happened.
Do I need some killer lyrics or would serial killer lyrics on this track be better? I mean what would Nick do?
You describe the way I most enjoy doing music Wayne...I very seldom do anything but one takes on guitar & bass...& if I screw up too bad I just hit delete & start again or it is what it is...actually this whole thing sounds damn coherent to me...and my mind is catching a bit of the old Surfer Music vibe (and thats where I first started playing...Ventures...Shadows..etc...)
This is my kind of music my friend...absolutely love it...its real..got the feeling...played with talent...Great stuff...big fav.....Ed
Hey Ed! I usually do 2 takes as the first take is where I work out some ideas and just play, mistakes are common. By the second take I have the ideas in my head then need to play it better and tighten it up. As I never practice, the pressure is on to perform and to just play from the heart. I can tell by listening to your songs that you hit the red button and just play, a lifetime of skill and musical know how makes it fun rather than work.
I shouldn't say it has no structure as there are distinct parts to the song and they flow because I mostly play in one key and intentionally played distinctly different bass parts with different dynamics. I think there is a key change in there somewhere but I am not going back and figuring it out, he.
I've always loved surf music, great stuff! Take care Ed!
This should have vocals about murder betrayel and some more murder; got a nick cave feel to it so that's why. Cool piggy sound for the bass, i like the grawl.
"....and some more murder" lol! Nick Cave reference, dig that.
"Piggy sound"? Can't say I've ever heard that expression. :) The growl that the bass guitar has is just how the Fender Jazz bass guitars sound. Mine is the Jaco Pastorius 1962 reissue, well know for it's exceptional tone. They were designed by Fender to compete against the Rickenbacker electric bass that was very punchy and bright and was popular and sold well at the time.
I go from the guitar into my bass amp, direct line out into my Focusrite Saffire pro then into my mac through lightening connection and am starting to get the punch and tone the Jazz bass is know for being, the best bass guitar in the world. I don't use any pedals or software to enhance it, other than some eq and compression in Ableton.
I like the live jam sort of feel to this one! Those one take recordings can be gems a lot of the time, and I would say this is one of those moments. The bass playing is quite cool, and puts me in mind of the recent New Order album, after Peter Hook left. Very stylish rock style, which is very much the style I've come to know from you, and you alone. Very groovy and fun! Dig it! Fave!
I used to do about 35 of these quick ideas several years ago and now I do only about 30 songs total a year. I can hear the tracks much better with my new gear and the input signal is about as good as it's ever been. Getting in and out of ideas like this teaches me a lot and I am seeing better results with substantially less mixes.
This one wasn't about a perfect arrangement or an unforgettable guitar performance. It was about spontaneity and working out an idea a little with a limiting bass line which I had no intention of changing. It was a fun challenge.
There are parts that are interesting and cool despite winging the whole thing, lol. Glad you liked it Spiv!
the first two chords like an R.E.M. song and that's lead through...towards the end you rowed to the fields of the jam...bass tone is very good again...
Thanks man! Been working on getting the bass sounding better. The git has an inherent grounding issue that causes me to clip some of the high end freqs so I am not totally happy with it, it could be a bit more punchy.
Not much i can say that others have not already said. Pure piece right here man. Everything is very warm and inviting. If i ever learn to play the guitar, I'll send you a link to my first acoustic track. I however first need to learn piano to a mastery degree, the piano is my ABSOLUTE favorite instrument. Not even the guitar beats it in my opinion, no diss to guitar players though lol Flawless execution here brother, peace
This is great. Am i sensing an influence of velvet underground in this piece. The lyrics are great. I often get that feeling that some people are put on this earth for the sole purpose of pissing you off, so i couldn't agree more with the point of the track.
The only annoyance is that it's too short man. You could have at least got away with another couple of minutes of that.
Top tune. I'm going to download this and put it on a compilation CD for my mate, He's really in to this kind of thing so i'm sure he'll like this one.
FR
It has a bit of Lou Reed in it I suppose. I had so much fun writing the lyrics. When I first played it to my friend who is into punk music he loved the words, they were meant to have some humor to them and he was laughing out loud. Kinda weird that I took it as a compliment as he was laughing at my song but I guess that's what I had intended all along.
Glad you liked it, one of the first songs I posted here. It's short, punk should be short I think. I just say hit the play button again, lol.

Intro made me think if a cross between Sister Hazel and Drive By Truckers. Verse more Truckers.
Really enjoying the bass guitar throughout. I would have overdone it and ruined it. You made it tasteful and interesting, and with a great tone.
A kind-of happy/murky feel coexisting. Not murky in tone or sound quality, but in conveyed atmosphere. I dig it!
I hope all is well.
